xmas bish? Errrrrrrr.... I'll do those when we have the n-e forum awards counted :P You're right though; it is a bit of an awkward time to start BISHing, but theoretically it should work a bit different this time, and it might even extend into July ('awards ceremony' perhaps to coincide with the meet :P)

Pro mode is kicking my ass! We've got infinite ammo turned on, but we're not using the rocket launcher. While magnums and shotguns are sweet to use, they're a bit slow. I might switch to a shitty inf. machine gun while I save up to unlock a nice better gun.

I've really enjoyed the last four/five episodes, but it really abused its own reputation for about 12 eps in a row. As Dan mentioned above (and as I did before him :P) the secondary cast were useless; a massively uninteresting waste of screen time. I think the series only really got awesome when they knew they were getting cancelled, which is annoying because they can practically do anything whatsoever because they'll never actually have to resolve anything (As Carnivale did, too). BSG, The Wire and (personally) Lost were/are the best things on TV. Kings is the current prospect but Ashley has informed me that's already been cancelled too. Badlands is showing minute potential, too... But my general feeling with SCC is that it was a let-down, and totally their fault that they got cancelled. I'm currently getting into In Treatment, which is very well written and, usually, very well acted -- it's just not got the massive mankind-spanning scope that shows like BSG and SCC can offer. Don't give up on TV just yet :P ... Pretty obvious that it's not the Gervais shit then :| The US show.- 3920 replies

Chilled day. Some Peggle (got three achievements for Nami as I wasn't signed into my own profile, dang!), some backgammon... came 2nd *cough* to last *cough* in teh pub quiz (they are strangely fun aren't they, Big C?), played table football, pool and quiz machine. Usual stuff. I have precisely £5.25 to last me until the 20th of April. That means a week of hunger, stress and sobriety! I do believe I have enough food to last me scimpingly, and I have dregs of tobacco about the place So I ought to be fine. Thing is, the ex is coming up on tuesday. I wanted to at the very least buy her an easter egg I won't be able to afford to feed her, go out with her, nor to fall for the temptation to go with her back to Leeds. Very nervous about it. Don't want to bore her, and of course I want to show her that I am able to provide for another, even though I clearly can't. Well, I'm gonna watch a few episodes of In Treatment, then try and get up for 11am to see my friend off on teh coach. Smart thing to do tomorrow would be to get going with my writing, but I can see a day of Assassin's Creed/Peggle/RE5. And I don't mind that ... Love is fucked up. "However having previously read other academic insights into popular culture dealing with theories and debates I am more aware of[here] I’m sure there will be cases in which people with philosophical backgrounds may find it oversimplified." Just gives a much-needed pause, homie.

Yes. Seriously, it's hard to find the willpower to keep coming back to this thread when it seems to be an endless masturbation session over the same bands that goes on for pages and pages! The amount of times I've wanted to make a "Music Thread where you're not allowed to talk about Lady GaGa, Bjork or Tori Amos, or britney spears" is scary. Elbow make me more depressed when I'm already depressed. Precisely what music really shouldn't do :P I would genuinely put them on the flipside of the coin to bands like Royksopp in the sense that you listen to both when you just want to sit and chill the fuck out and forget about the world, only one makes you smile and the other makes you a glum bastard. Got the lineup for the Blackfield Festival! Bands I know are bolded; VNV Nation, ASP, Apotygma Berzerk, Diary of Dreams, Projekt Pitchfork, Mesh, Suicide Commando, IAMX, Letzte Instanz, Zeraphine, Rotersand, Faun, Staubkind, End of Green, Destroid, Frozen Plasma, Fetish:Mensch, Kloq, Santa Hates You, Dope Stars Inc. ... Spread over two days all on one stage one after the other, and with a 'Warm Up Showcase' the day before it starts with Seabound, Absurd Minds and Soman... It's crazy cool. €76 for, what, 23 bands and camping? Just got to find a cheap flight and work out the tenting kinks and precisely whom will go with me and BLAM! I'm raving all weekend in june, then returning to see Brand New straight after. Anyone here know any of these bands? *looks in Somme's general direction*

I've got a creme egg one laying on my desk... but I've checked the 'use by date' and it coincides with when we move out of the flat, so I'm gonna save it for then :P And I'm pretty sure I've asked shorty/nami about three times who it was that gave me the egg, but I've gone and forgotten again... I'm totally going to have to get an egg for the 'ex'...

Easter Sunday. *shrugs* Gonna get outta bed shortly, and maybe watch Mirror Mask before pub quiz tonight. Maybe some Rock Band. WHO KNOWS! Could go for a hot cross bun... "However having previously read other academic insights into popular culture dealing with theories and debates I am more aware of I’m sure there will be cases in which people with philosophical backgrounds may find it oversimplified. " Comma that bitch up :P Aside from that, the book definitely sounds very interesting. I'm sure your review will get people interested. Shame you can't plug a link to amazon.com and get a bit of sponsorship back, eh. I like the "NESpace" mentioned... this site could totally steal that for something.

Dollhouse wasn't, in my book, the most zomg episode yet, but certainly it kept with the recent standard and provided us with plenty of potential Shame it's not looking set for a second season. Sarah Connor Chronicles, again pulled out a simply brilliant episode. It is such a shame that the start of this season and the end of the last were so slow and drawn out, because the last four/five episodes have just exploded the potential for the show... but my understanding is that this was the last ever episode... which is just, frankly, insulting, on many levels; by the network because they, again, refuse to give a sci fi show a decent run, and also by the show itself for doing the whole "screw you, we're going down so we're going to give you agony to remember us by". The show really has developed and changed, from a RUN FROM THE TERMINATOR OF THE WEEK and LOOK HOW GIFTED A HACKER JOHN CONNOR IS show into one that actually looks at how John Connor is developing into the future saviour of mankind. I don't want to spoil any of the 2nd season for anyone, but I will just say that the secondary cast was utterly shite, useless, and hugely distracting and detrimental to the show on the whole. SCC's schedule change to help boost Dollhouse was especially damaging when combined with the latter show's poor openiong 6 episodes, which just lends the fanboy extra reason to be angry at the studio. With the Salvation movie coming out, the studio must surely reconsider their choices. If another season could be tied closer to the movie's storyline then Fox would be wise to pump more money into it (and the tie isn't that far of a stretch...)- 3920 replies

Actually no, that was posted on page 13 of this very thread :P But it's ok -- the last summer meet made me practically invulnerable to any amount of thread-skipping whores. I think last year we said 12pm, and us Hostelers were there from probably half 10? I dunno. It was ages. Other people turned up hourly from 2pm, though.

I wrote a post and it was really boring so to sum my day up; felt insociable, but got drunk so it was easier. Had a good meal, saw nami try to drink a cocktail on the table while she was standing on her chair in a restaurant below our flat that we'd never been to. Got drunker, but then wanter MOAR but I have no money and am scared that I have only £10 to last me 'til my loan. Want weed. Want ex-girlfriend. Currently got a bottle of leftover beer to go with an episode of somethingorother, and feeling a little depressed about life and I don't know why! WOo!

The Big Daddy/Little sister not being like the quest in the previous game made me sigh in relief. I could see that being hugely frustrating. I'm still a little confused -- is this game set a decade after the old game, or before?

Happy burthday, Rubik! You were the gutsiest person at the sheffield meet for walking up to a bunch of strangers the way you did

CONCERN! I've had a few spells of FACESPLOSION-type allergy reactions to I know not what, and I'm getting some of the early signs right now. Popped an anti-histamine pill, really fucking hope it works because we're going for nami's birthday meal later, and people are coming over, and I can't just coop up all day. EDIT: Found this and thought of FOUGHT OFF ReZ. Loller.

Man, yesterday was a good day. Drank bloody maries while playing backgammon and listening to 70's psychodelic music in the hours before the gig. Took some MDMA, and left! Got started on by 6 guys and was thinking "need to get to a populated area... fuuuck there's not one for ages..." but my mate was cool and we just kept walking. Hassle, annoying, and the first time that's happened to me for years! Missed the first band and didn't care much for the second support, but met some cool people while smoking. Then Zeromancer... man I was right in the middle of the crowd. Dropped some more MDMA and spazzed out! They played maybe 4 or 5 songs I recognised (House of Cards, Neo Geisha, Need You Like A Drug, Send Me An Angel, maybe some others, and of course Dr. Online for encore)but no 'Something for the Pain' or Eurotrash -- but still a very good mix of old and new. Afterwards, went to the merchendise stand and went 'meh' at the tees. Spoke to the girl working the stall and she gave me a CD to promote Blackfields festival, and my mate bought me a signed zeromancer poster (fuck yeah!). Back at my flat we took some more druuugs and listened to the CD and decided that we have to go to this blackfields festival-- it's in Germany but... VNV nation, suicide commando, Projekt Pitchfork? Dewd! Industrial, EBM, dub-step... gonna be zommgg! Then took some ketamine for the first time, and it was hilarious fun. So damn wobbly, so damn funny and confusing and... yeah that was cool. Just lying on the kitchen floor laughing about 'Special Flakes' at 3am... damn it was fun. I tried to write a poem with my mate, but all we got was "The dangly other orbits the glum, while the pleasant sitter..." So today I'm just trying to not acknowledge my hangover. Nami's day of celebrations today so I might hair-of-the-dog my way through teh day, and we'll rock band through the night. SWEEEEET
