  1. Big C; your point about self-referential songs -- certainly, as Paj says, it don't suit all songs. In Brand New - Okay I Believe You But My Tommy Gun Don't there are some great lines; The whole song is a non-stop self-appreciating attack on a heart-breaker who should've picked a less poetic boy to bust-up. It's an "I'm Over You" song that gets the listener grabbing a torch to join the march on broken love. And I love it. Any Brand New fan will tell you that this song is inspired HOOK ME THE FUCK UP
  2. I want to say something really awesome for this special day. I beat you at chess. Yeah. That was pretty awesome. :P
  3. I never said that there is no Jacob, just that Ben's been faking it to his peeps - like that house? Moving chairs? Maybe all an illusion. I know 6 = end, but the whole season won't just be 'end' :P They can't fill up 16 episodes like that, surely...
  4. I KNOW. lol :P And then the plane STILL crashes, but just into the ocean, so the last scene is everyone looking at each other, unknowing that they sorta knew each other for like 5 years, then DROWNING. Only a season building up to it would just be mega-annoying. I do wonder what the next 'thing' will be (considering s1 = island, s2 = hatch, s3 = others, s4 = flash-forwards/widmore crew, s5 = BACK IN TIEM), as surely they're running out of options... I do think sawyer, kate and juliette leaving the island will be part of the next 'thing'. Surely they really are returning to 70's rest-of-the-world, and not 'flashing' back to 2005 or whatever, because that would kinda leave them floating around the bottom of the ocean amirite? So they'll be in some sort of past, doing some sort of, er, thing :P Alpert/Ben/Locke is still fascinating. Locke insinuates that Ben faked Jacob, based upon his meeting with Jack's 'dad' I suppose. I dunno. My head hurts thinking about it all.
  5. Ok, so... Maybe Ben wanted Locke to die just so that when the island is 'fixed' in a temporal position again, Locke will go back to being dead, and maybe next season sees everyone trying to make sure the plane crash actually happens by making sure everything that happened happens again before the crash, by arranging that everyone gets on the Oceanic flight in teh first place - so clare's boyfriend leaving her is done by our losties, the numbers the crazy man repeats are given to him by our losties, and so on, and so on. I'm so totally wrong, I'm sure -- but simply... I love this show
  6. An interesting thing to think about - while vegetable oil would be renewable (to some extent), it isn't actually eco-friendly, so it's not truly an alternative power source as you're still burning the hell outta the carbon in the vegetables!
  7. Well played, mafia dudes :P I never knew for sure about anything -- except that the newspaper dude was good!
  8. lol me too... BUT I WON 3-0 WTF!! So, liek, happeeeh!
  9. Coolness Bears 4 teh votor. Let's get rollin'!
  10. I'd be all up for implanting some memories of trips that are impossible, but if I could actually go on the holday and experience it while it happens then I'd rather do that. I do think there is a difference between experiencing an occasion in the present, and the subsequent memory created by it. it's like, would you rather have sex or be implanted with a memory of having sex? The morals of whether it'd be 'cheating' or not, though, is more interesting. Skipping to another Phillip K. Dick inspiration; it would be thought-crime! ...Maybe.
  11. Not totally wrong - the closest yet you have the 'ty' (tea not being coffee) bit right. Answer is Platty. I'll let someone else have a go as my cryptic clues clearly need a bit of work
  12. yeah house has been top-notch again for the last three or four episodes since, y'know, Kutner... One episode left! Should be a good one.
  13. it's certainly not coffee, but it ain't right.
  14. Shouldn't be starting 'til around the 20th of May so you're safe it's essay/exam/dissertation season at uni/college, and I think we can all do without the distraction for now.
  15. Nobody's right. Tsk to all your cryptic solvings. I'll pop back at the end of the day and resolve it.
  16. I'll chuck a new one out now to save time, then. A Styled hair that just isn't coffee :P
  17. RoadKill, I reckon
  18. but the sig rocks, amirite?
  19. I really don't know how to accomodate for my two :P I think one will be fine with whatever I pick, but I don't know the other's taste too well. I don't think my mixes will be too different to last time. I don't have much new music actually on my laptop. Dyson; have you done it so people are trio'd up and sending to each other, or is it all crazy random? Rephrase: the two I send to, are they the two I will receive from too?
  20. haha - yeah it doesn't fit in at all :P I should've distinguished it - got it for a ladyfriend who wants to watch it with me.
  21. A 2-2 draw with Haden where i was in the lead twice, and I'd missed a penalty in the 2nd minute. I should've put my aggression up from 'careful', maybe that'd help, but all in all I have to b pleased I got any points at all. The one I get from this match keeps me in the survival race. Unfortunate that Cube's draw against oddy also saw him drop a place. Oddy and Roostophe face off next week which'll make the title race interesting. Oh yeah, and my only two good defenders are both injured :P Damn...
  22. Sounds cool- just thought I'd say from what I remember the inside of the caff isn't too massive and didn't have all that many chairs and stuff, but there is a sheltered outter bit so it should be good It's the other side of the serpentine to the place I X'd on the map, but only a few mins walk either way.
  23. Today I made a list of Things I Need To Do Really Soon. I managed to tick off one thing on the list before the day was out, and that was the first thing I put on the list. "Make a list of things-that-I need-to-do-really-soon." And I watched about 4 movies and ate a stupid amount of chili peppers and drank some cider and stared at books longingly, but choosing the visual droning over the intercranial exercise. The Road is a really good book, btw. Propz to DareDan for the mentionings. Tomorrow I really ought to cross something else off my list. Germany, maybe. *laughs evilly*
  24. Fancy that! I've just pinched it from teh tubes today. Been watching A Fistful of Dollars, A Few Dollars More and The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, as a sort of encore for my Clint Eastwood stint. The films get progressively longer, and after seeing Wolverine at the cinema they are refreshingly content as movies - that is to say, these films are in no hurry to tell you waht's going on, or to remind you of a character's name or try and affront you with some deep meaning - these are good westerns; films that rake in the grains of morality and don't pretend there's anything magic about the beans that grow from them. I mean, westerns just boil Men down to their basest forms, treading the line between man and animal. While "the man with no name" actually had a different name in each movie, and while Back to the Future ruined teh ending of the first one for me, there was still enough atmosphere and trademark-lines to ensure the trilogy lived up to its legendary status. I mean, the intro credits? The signature theme tunes? yeah. Awesome. Watched Schindler's List (and got confused, as always, between Neeson and Fiennes) and was almost brought to tears on a couple of occasions. Now I've got The Third Man, Apocalypse Now, Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, O Brother Where Art Thou, Raising Arizona, Miller's Crossing, Big Nothing and The Man Who Wasn't There to watch As you can tell, a bit of Linklater and Coens. Then I'm revisiting Lynch and Kubrik, then checking out the Clooney movies. THEN... I dunno.
  25. DAMN STRAIGHT. I just watched e10 and 11 and... my god, the guy was acting so, so, sooo badly throughout. I think his side of Dollhouse is by far the weakest element. Far too contrived and flukey too often. And we all love sierra because as a geek... she was damn hot.
