  1. Ah, yes I did Diageo! I think I confused myself, there.
  2. When I arrived at the reception I said i was struggling to breathe, not knowing that was my 'sore throat' more than the allergic reaction, but that did get worse as time went on. Last time, in sheffield, my reaction was far more severe and I was sat waiting for probably 45 mins or more. The nurses (four of them, then another two as the shift-change occurred at 6.30) were very good about it all. The main thing is that the sore throat wasn't caused by any reaction whatsoever, it's some virus/flu thing that I'll have to live with for a few days. Also, it isn't clear whether I had a reaction to potential MSG intake or to the aspirin as it was timed so that it could've been either, and it wasn't likely that the burger even had any MSG. I'm going back to that pub on tuesday so I'll be having a word with them and trying to wrangle a free pint or portion of chips or something.
  3. I have a friend who used to be so routinely late for everything that we started telling her to be there an hour later than the rest of us would be there. Subsequentially, she'd be foaming at the mouth with apologies for being an hour late when actually we'd only been there a minute or two. Of course this all 'backfired' when she turned up on time. To stretch the joke out, we all decided to turn up an extra hour late, just to rub it in.
  4. The Wind That Shakes The Barley is on my watch-soon list ^_^ I'm utterly novice at 'world cinema'. I did go through a phase of renting every Tartan Cinema dvd my local video store had. My housemate last year was very much into his french 'best-seller' movies but I am very bad at remembering any of the titles.
  5. Issue #1 of gamesTM signed by shigeru miyamoto. Pretty much the only thing of any 'value' I have. I'm fairly sure it's a one-of-a-kind. When shigsy came to london for a signing issue #4 was out and there were a fair few people with that. Shigsy himself had a leaf through the mag too! Anyway! My dad's got some vintage wine that's worth hundreds per bottle that he bought for a tenner. Wine's a good area to invest in.
  6. Today was another was of a day because I spent 6 hours in A&E. And it's a shit reason. But near-death! It all started when I woke up at about 10am because I was struggling to breathe. It wasn't quite my typical allergy reaction, and besides it was too early to be the case. I'd eaten a pub burger last night, the only potential MSG-addled substance, and typically it takes between 12 and 18 hours to pass before my body starts turning against itself. So I went to a nearby drop-in free clinic, waited around for about 90 mins because I'd put "sore throat" as my reason for seeing a doctor so by default everyone else in the world who needs an emergency appointment gets to be seen before me. Eventually I get in to see a doctor who is your stereotypical low-pay GP who refused to even slightly be swayed by the House mentality that by some small chance, this could be lupus (not that it was) and just nodded and put on her fake smile as I told her of my discomfort with breathing. Anyway, she just said to go get some soluble aspirin and gargle it. So I do. 30 mins later, approximately 18 hours after the burger, I start getting THE SIGNS! For me, that's a ridiculously itchy scalp followed immenantly, however that's spelt, by a swelling and numbing of the forhead. I leave brighton beach, the spot I decided to gargle in front of strangers, and head back home and take some piritin and just ride teh storm, but after 30 mins it shows no sign of clearing up. My eyelids are starting to swell, so I just figure I'll get a bus to A&E because I know what happens next - face swells up, mouth goes numb, tongue and throat swell, I die. Once I get to A&E they whisk me straight in and give me a bunch of injections and i'm tired of writing this tl so YEAH STUFF THINGS HWYDDD?!!"£ Anyway. You guys ever experienced A&E? It's always disturbing. A 77 year old woman had had a stroke, a 16 year old kid had a heart attack and a transexual's vagina was seeping, or something.
  7. No Lynch! I'll just say now that I have some busy days ahead of me socialising, so I'll mostly be posting in teh wee hours of the morning after I return home!
  8. I think there's a common sense to this suggestion I think the decision for day periods should be left to the gamesmaster, purely because they may not necessarily be able to stick with 24 hours precisely and continuously. An option could be that users are advised to not post psat the 24th hour out of courtesy and any such ones are ignored... the obvious danger is that discussions may not be over, that someone with crucial info can only ever log-in close to the end of the day. But then again that sort of frantic furvore could add to the tension of a game!
  9. Just to say, I've had my 120gb HDD for around a year and a half and I have about 95gb left. I could easily prune away a lot of demos, but I don't install any games to the HDD. At this rate I really don't think I'll ever fill it up.
  10. Yeah she's not got enough posts to post links, so this thread is fail. Rosalita; if you have a link, PM me with it and I'll re-open the thread.
  11. Virgin Suicides is good. For some reason my mind allocates it with Stand By Me and Dead Poets Society. They all have that tone to them... None are mindfucks, but all are wholesome, not-quite-family films that seem to me to be a good stepping stone between childhood and adulthood cinema, leaving you with something to feel, yet getting you there in a rather didactic way that isn't seriously challenging, just unexpected.
  12. ... Anyway, here's a list of the 'mindfuck' movies I have that I'm working through, if anyone's interested. Bolded are the ones I've seen... 12 Monkeys 2001: A Space Oddysey American Psycho Being John Malkovich Cypher Donnie Darko Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind eXistenZ Fight Club Frailty Jacob's Ladder Lost Highway Memento Mulholland Drive Naked Lunch Oldboy One Hour Photo Pi Primer A Scanner Darkly Scanners Session 9 The Game The Illusionist The Machinist The Others The Prestige The Sixth Sense Vanilla Sky Videodrome A Beautiful mind A Clockwork Orange Adaptation Barton Fink Brazil Dark City Dead mans Shoes Eraserhead Identity In The Mouth Of Madness Lucky Number Slevin One Point O Pink Floyd: The Wall Rashomon Requiem For A Dream Revolver Spellbound Spider Spun Limited Synecdoche New York The 13th Floor The Butterfly Effect The Fountain The Jacket The number 23 The Salton Sea The Usual Suspects Waking Life What Dreams May Come --- The Five Obstructions (not sure if it's mindfuck, it's un an unmarked folder) A good mixture of movies there. What would people recommend I watch next? Synecdoche is top of my list...
  13. My mate went to see this. utter disgrace. He was telling me about it, and how much of a waste of money it was for him -- he had to get several trains and a plane to get there, and they (axl) rob him. He's still fighting to get his money back. A few years ago I went to see The Used at Brixton Carling Acadamy. There were two support bands, each were an hour late onto stage, and there was an hour gap between them. When The Used finally came onstage they played 10 songs (about 45 mins) then came back to do 3 song for their encore. And they were shit.
  14. I was wondering when someone would mention that! I wanted to re-open sign-ups in case any of those people weren't around. This game will essentially be man vs. machine
  15. Danny; I read back over teh thread and I understand totally where you're coming from. I can't promise that the length will be any different but I can promise that I will write clearer. Half the time you couldn't work out what was going on simply because I was saying stuff like "bob and pete went to meet mike. He gave him his gun. He then shot him, while he laughed at the other him"... the reader had no clue.
  16. I was going to make this exact thread!! I saw a post nando had made in the retro board but what had stopped me was that, simply, my set-up is fuck-all right now having just moved in to a new place. I was considering doing a post-your-room thread... Anyway; Here's a pic; YEAH MAN MY PHOTOSHOPS ARE LEEEET ... So yeah. Not much to see.
  17. Last night I laughed the hardest EVAR. I was with four of my oldest mates, with one of them visiting from the north, and we drank the night away. I was laughing because I was trying to hum whilst singing at the same time. Out of context it's nothing whatsoever... so I guess that context is what made me happy.. - Alcohol - Good friends
  18. Soo I'm going to do another mafia game, and I think I need approx. 20 players. My last mafia game (use the search function to find it; put in "mafiawesome") took several months to do, and actually only lasted for something like four nights. My write-ups were epically long and rather confusing -- this time I'll be doing the same style but with added clarity, which may do nothing much but lengthen the write-ups. So essentially only sign up if you are willing to put up with this! I'll start the game after the smash bros one finishes. Players (20) Jonnas Dannyboy Eenuh Zell Cube Peeps MadDog Ellmeister Paj Nintendohnut Chairdriver Dyson Diageo Mundi ReZ dan-likes-trees Tellyn Smeagol Herioc Janitor gmac
  19. Just watched teh vid on the xbox dash -- you can really see how they're lining up their subscription-based game, with all sorts of ideas being thrown around in Black Ops -- Contracts to lock the gamer in for set lengths of time, currency to acquire new weapons/upgrades rather than automatically unlocking them, and customisation going to a new level. It all looks overwhelming from my MW2 perspective, with the extra game modes, new maps to learn, new killstreak rewards and all that stuff I mentioned above. Definitely very eager to get my hands on the game!
  20. laaawwwl! Won 1-2 away, against roo, who had guessed my tactics! I got 9 chances to his 3 and, dunno if it's worth boasting, the goal he got was actually scored by my defender. Totally unexpected. My forwards still need work/are utter shite, but the rest of my team is performing very well.
  21. I thought it wasn't too bad. Probably your most ambitious thing you've done yet. I'd say it was a shame that the surreality and psuedo-mundane opening was quickly shafted in favour of the Kon-hat stuff, which by itself would've been curious enough but was too different to the tone of the first part. But applause should be given for your consistant efforts!
  22. I've always hated the hyperactive c-sticks on the playstation controllers. They never seemed to offer any resistence to your movements, which led to much 'playing like a girl'-ramming of the sticks rather than subtle, responsive movements.
  23. Taco bell... looks stupid. Fajitas ftw. We should go to a restaurant in Leeds that, I've only heard, is awsum. Tex-mex places are/were more common here in brighton... but yeah! Mexican food is sooo gooooooooood Was in M&S a few weeks ago and my girl's bro bought some. The next day my S.A. mate's mum walks in the room with a MASSIVE bag of the stuff. Sooo alsoooo goooood. Went and bought a bunch from the S.A. butcher and enjoyed for ages.
  24. ... The thread title reads like a sun headline. You should be ashamed. Ashamed.
  25. Don't forget Donnie Darko! Cult movies make more money/impact in the long run, anyway.
