  1. It always amused me that sony and microsoft 'came up' with the same idea at pretty much the same time. Industrial espionage, I'd say. I think it's worth noting the difference in the technology, and the potential applications. MS were fairly keen to stress the interaction with the dashboard and zune which makes me imagine that there's potential to combine gestures with a controller without having to restructure the controller, in case it all flops. Not sure that makes sense, but effectively once the 'hey let's stand around and look like morons!' market stabilises the money will be made from converting the hardcore, which will require far cleverer ideas - which I think kinect is able to offer as that doesn't require dropping your standard controller.
  2. I'm Lucario. Some gay pokemon thing, which I hate because of all the SSB characters this is the one I know the least about. I targetted ReZ and Paj. My role means that anyone who targets one of the above will actually target the other. So! Tellyn targetted ReZ, found he was evil. But actually he was targetting Paj. BUT! This wario-smoke may mean that the investigation has been screwed with. I don't see how this wholely works. What would the smoke power be? if it is to make an investigator's results wrong, then more than half the time it would be a useless power. What if a role-blocker was caught in the fog? As Jonnas points out, I am not saying ReZ is innocent, I am just saying that Tellyn's results are for Paj. And I am not saying Tellyn's results are correct, because clearly we have some confusion as to whether his intel was correct. So essentially we don't have any guarentee that either is good or evil, but most likely both are not mafia! Not sure that helps at all. Because I realised I'd missed out on a pages worth of posts, I recinded my vote for Paj as he had come out to who his character was, which just added confusion. Unless there is any other investigation that we've not heard from, we really do not have anything to go on. Another write-up can give us more clues. I'd appreciate it if I was given protection tonight.
  3. Vote: Paj. I switched ReZ and Paj over last night, so anyone targetting ReZ was actually targetting Paj... I think. So yeah, I'd believe ReZ for now. Er... Ok so a whole new page of stuff appeared after I posted that. Great. Changevote: Nobody for now. I r confused and sadface triplepost for great justice! Er, yes. So I've stupidly come out with my role too soon, thinking that we were on the cusp of lynching ReZ when I knew it wasn't him. my role switches the minds of the two I target, so that any targets on character a are actually going to be tagetting character b. So if anyone targetted either ReZ or Paj, just be aware that your results will be switched. Here's hoping I can survive further nights!
  4. Great post, smeagol! I'm uncertain of how to interpret the "friend" and "companion"; The character in boots could be a pilot from the starfox games, who has been confused/switched roles with the ike/marsh character later on. If so, who would the woman be? It acts like Peach does (the 'companion' being toad), so in theory why would peach and starfoxguy be called 'friends'? There's nothing but speculation on my part for now. Half-leads. I have no new information.
  5. I have a bunch of stuff that I am supposed to do but I am unable to actually get on with it. I am looking forward to; - Pub quiz tomorrow - FINALLY seeing one of my closest friends in brighton on wednesday - Sister giving birth to my niece - Fallout: New Vegas, Black Ops - New season of house/smallville/supernatural/sons of anarchy - EVENTUALLY getting to visit sheff again to see my mates Tomorrow I need to do 'admin stuff' to get my life on track. job centre. CV. Got a job to apply for that will greatly affect all future endeavours; if I get an interview then I can't go to sheff for a couple of weeks, if I get the job then theoretically I can't go to sheffield 'til I book some time off, and I'm not likely to be able to do that 'til january. So I don't know. I'm really, really not very good about the future.
  6. Shorty and Nami played that a lot - a game I'd gladly pick up if I had a frequent partner to play with!
  7. Happy birthday Wes! It's a shame that you must think people only noticed you once you started posting your 'one-liners' as I always enjoyed your posts regardless of presentation. You're a very strange chap. But one I'd love to have a drink with! Enjoy your day.
  8. ... yes I know, and I don't really see why you thought you had to remind me of that?
  9. I always find that a great way to get rid of a song stuck in your head is to replace it with another similarly adhesive track! Best way is to ask someone "I have a song stuck in my head, can you guess what it is?"
  10. Yeah, previously I've had emails send them extra pronto. Just got off the phone to a lazy indian girl. Don't know if it was my paranoia but I swear I heard the click of a voice recorder before and after I said my name. I think they're planning to hack into my Future Safe. Now all they need is one of my retinas! Noooo! Mild moment of panic when I entered teh code and it was all "lol noob that was SO not a valid code. Fs." I realised I was putting Ts instead of 7s! NOW I HAVE MAD POINTZ!
  11. I suppose so. Bioshock's loading screens were fairly lengthy. Now that I live in an attic I might install MW2 if it reduces disc noise. I'm an a vague hurry to purchase Castle Crashers in time for an epic gaming sesh tomorrow. Needed some extra points and - for some reason - I always forget to bookmark whatever place I'd used last time that didn't demand I used paypal or google checkout. I've found some american site which does 2100 for $30 (yeah, not a great price, I know)... But after I placed my order I realised that they are eevil bastards. They have said that I have to wait at my phone for 30 mins for an account verification call. So I've got another 10 mins to sit here and panic about them having my card details. I might cry a little, too.
  12. EENUH; A&E stands for 'accidents and emergencies', which is pretty much the emergency ward where ambulances nee-naw their latest batch of drunken disasters and old, brittle, dying people. I think someone died while I was there. In the same room as me. I may have seen a dead body now.
  13. Ah, yes I did Diageo! I think I confused myself, there.
  14. When I arrived at the reception I said i was struggling to breathe, not knowing that was my 'sore throat' more than the allergic reaction, but that did get worse as time went on. Last time, in sheffield, my reaction was far more severe and I was sat waiting for probably 45 mins or more. The nurses (four of them, then another two as the shift-change occurred at 6.30) were very good about it all. The main thing is that the sore throat wasn't caused by any reaction whatsoever, it's some virus/flu thing that I'll have to live with for a few days. Also, it isn't clear whether I had a reaction to potential MSG intake or to the aspirin as it was timed so that it could've been either, and it wasn't likely that the burger even had any MSG. I'm going back to that pub on tuesday so I'll be having a word with them and trying to wrangle a free pint or portion of chips or something.
  15. I have a friend who used to be so routinely late for everything that we started telling her to be there an hour later than the rest of us would be there. Subsequentially, she'd be foaming at the mouth with apologies for being an hour late when actually we'd only been there a minute or two. Of course this all 'backfired' when she turned up on time. To stretch the joke out, we all decided to turn up an extra hour late, just to rub it in.
  16. The Wind That Shakes The Barley is on my watch-soon list ^_^ I'm utterly novice at 'world cinema'. I did go through a phase of renting every Tartan Cinema dvd my local video store had. My housemate last year was very much into his french 'best-seller' movies but I am very bad at remembering any of the titles.
  17. Issue #1 of gamesTM signed by shigeru miyamoto. Pretty much the only thing of any 'value' I have. I'm fairly sure it's a one-of-a-kind. When shigsy came to london for a signing issue #4 was out and there were a fair few people with that. Shigsy himself had a leaf through the mag too! Anyway! My dad's got some vintage wine that's worth hundreds per bottle that he bought for a tenner. Wine's a good area to invest in.
  18. Today was another was of a day because I spent 6 hours in A&E. And it's a shit reason. But near-death! It all started when I woke up at about 10am because I was struggling to breathe. It wasn't quite my typical allergy reaction, and besides it was too early to be the case. I'd eaten a pub burger last night, the only potential MSG-addled substance, and typically it takes between 12 and 18 hours to pass before my body starts turning against itself. So I went to a nearby drop-in free clinic, waited around for about 90 mins because I'd put "sore throat" as my reason for seeing a doctor so by default everyone else in the world who needs an emergency appointment gets to be seen before me. Eventually I get in to see a doctor who is your stereotypical low-pay GP who refused to even slightly be swayed by the House mentality that by some small chance, this could be lupus (not that it was) and just nodded and put on her fake smile as I told her of my discomfort with breathing. Anyway, she just said to go get some soluble aspirin and gargle it. So I do. 30 mins later, approximately 18 hours after the burger, I start getting THE SIGNS! For me, that's a ridiculously itchy scalp followed immenantly, however that's spelt, by a swelling and numbing of the forhead. I leave brighton beach, the spot I decided to gargle in front of strangers, and head back home and take some piritin and just ride teh storm, but after 30 mins it shows no sign of clearing up. My eyelids are starting to swell, so I just figure I'll get a bus to A&E because I know what happens next - face swells up, mouth goes numb, tongue and throat swell, I die. Once I get to A&E they whisk me straight in and give me a bunch of injections and i'm tired of writing this tl so YEAH STUFF THINGS HWYDDD?!!"£ Anyway. You guys ever experienced A&E? It's always disturbing. A 77 year old woman had had a stroke, a 16 year old kid had a heart attack and a transexual's vagina was seeping, or something.
  19. No Lynch! I'll just say now that I have some busy days ahead of me socialising, so I'll mostly be posting in teh wee hours of the morning after I return home!
  20. I think there's a common sense to this suggestion I think the decision for day periods should be left to the gamesmaster, purely because they may not necessarily be able to stick with 24 hours precisely and continuously. An option could be that users are advised to not post psat the 24th hour out of courtesy and any such ones are ignored... the obvious danger is that discussions may not be over, that someone with crucial info can only ever log-in close to the end of the day. But then again that sort of frantic furvore could add to the tension of a game!
  21. Just to say, I've had my 120gb HDD for around a year and a half and I have about 95gb left. I could easily prune away a lot of demos, but I don't install any games to the HDD. At this rate I really don't think I'll ever fill it up.
  22. Yeah she's not got enough posts to post links, so this thread is fail. Rosalita; if you have a link, PM me with it and I'll re-open the thread.
  23. Virgin Suicides is good. For some reason my mind allocates it with Stand By Me and Dead Poets Society. They all have that tone to them... None are mindfucks, but all are wholesome, not-quite-family films that seem to me to be a good stepping stone between childhood and adulthood cinema, leaving you with something to feel, yet getting you there in a rather didactic way that isn't seriously challenging, just unexpected.
  24. ... Anyway, here's a list of the 'mindfuck' movies I have that I'm working through, if anyone's interested. Bolded are the ones I've seen... 12 Monkeys 2001: A Space Oddysey American Psycho Being John Malkovich Cypher Donnie Darko Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind eXistenZ Fight Club Frailty Jacob's Ladder Lost Highway Memento Mulholland Drive Naked Lunch Oldboy One Hour Photo Pi Primer A Scanner Darkly Scanners Session 9 The Game The Illusionist The Machinist The Others The Prestige The Sixth Sense Vanilla Sky Videodrome A Beautiful mind A Clockwork Orange Adaptation Barton Fink Brazil Dark City Dead mans Shoes Eraserhead Identity In The Mouth Of Madness Lucky Number Slevin One Point O Pink Floyd: The Wall Rashomon Requiem For A Dream Revolver Spellbound Spider Spun Limited Synecdoche New York The 13th Floor The Butterfly Effect The Fountain The Jacket The number 23 The Salton Sea The Usual Suspects Waking Life What Dreams May Come --- The Five Obstructions (not sure if it's mindfuck, it's un an unmarked folder) A good mixture of movies there. What would people recommend I watch next? Synecdoche is top of my list...
  25. My mate went to see this. utter disgrace. He was telling me about it, and how much of a waste of money it was for him -- he had to get several trains and a plane to get there, and they (axl) rob him. He's still fighting to get his money back. A few years ago I went to see The Used at Brixton Carling Acadamy. There were two support bands, each were an hour late onto stage, and there was an hour gap between them. When The Used finally came onstage they played 10 songs (about 45 mins) then came back to do 3 song for their encore. And they were shit.
