Caught the end of the NY one - the race was thrilling to watch. The iraq/bethlehem one was... meh. Started well and ended well, but the desert scene was so poor and so annoying and so unfunny that I was unable to laugh at any subsequent scene. Racing convertables across a rocky desert? They are constantly fighting complaints of scripting, so they do something that is completely obvious and dull. Meh. It was one of two things i was looking forward to (motd was the other) and after a day of the tv blaring constant soap operas at me... bleh.

Despite the draw I just wanted to say; that's right bitch, I guessed your formation. I didn't pick the best counter-formation, but I guessed yours nonetheless! Possession/shots went my way. I think not having my freekick specialists on the field made a difference - and ReZ's home advantage would've swayed it. I gotta be glad for 4 pts out of 6 against him.

Complementing people is a rather grand thing to aim for. Is daft brooding? Does he want a lady friend? Or... did he just sperror... ANYWAIS. I should probably drink less. I have it all rationalised. I'll be starting my (voluntary) jobs mid-jan, so getajob is being dealt with. Ish. Booze intake will go down as responsibility goes up. I think. I'm not good at resolving myself/revolving myself. As to what I hope to achieve this next year; - Have a holiday (not had one since Italy 3 and a half years ago) - Make a bird table - Get my own place

I am up for doing a mini-meet anywhere, bear. Specifically; I'd love to host a South England meet in Brighton as this place rocks your socks, but that can be for another day! Just tell me where and when (I know, you kinda have already...) and I'll be there!

One of the haunting memories I have is when I was the captain of the cub scouts football 5-a-side B-team during a tournament. Our keeper got sent off, so I went in goal for a penalty. I dived teh right way, even got a finger to it -- but it still went in. It's a bizarre thing to haunt me but it does. I even saved another penalty in the next match - from my school's 'best' footballer who went to a different cub scout group. I regret taking the course I did for uni. I regret not being a better friend to... well, all my friends. I'm very bad at keeping in touch with anyone. I regret leaving sheffield as soon as I did, but then things down in Brighton haven't been all bad. It's hard to regret things when you're happy with where you are.

Back from bournemouth; - Long john thermal trouser things - thermal socks - hiking socks - scarf - £20 (bought The Corner and The Stand books with it) - Year membership for Duke of York cinema (and its sister cinemas, ftw) - New wallet (not as good as my current, dying one, so may not switch) - Sliders season 1&2 (yesss!) - Star Trek: TNG Season 6 (told my dad I already had them all downloaded...) - Killer Su Doku book - 3D Su Doku puzzle pad - Su Doku CD-Rom (... I'm not THAT into su dokus...) - Torch (for my nightblindness!) - Bobby Fischer's "My 60 Favourite Games" - Roll-up chess board - Chess pieces (with a white pawn missing :'() I think that's it. Hard to remember. Pretty good all in all Last year I got like three things so it was a very surprising one this year.

Slaggis; I don't enjoy it because it's nothing new, and because I'm not a fan of that easy-going, art-doesn't-have-to-be-good sort of thing. It's why i don't like soaps/pop music.

mewrrrrrycrhsismass! Just got back from my 'holiday.' nintendohnut; who is your bearded, young, peg-legged character? I asked you yesterday and you avoided the question. Vote: nintendohnut. he has a wooden leg. It's so bloody obvious.

Tales; if you consider that at your current rate you'd double each value, then you can see where some players may need more focus than others. Otherwise I don't think it's a bad one. My players are all 7+, that is with 2 on 7 and most players on 9 or more. I'm treading water sitting just above the relegation zone, but I'm still confident. I've been sending out a mixed team each game rather than what I did last year with focusing on certain players in the first half and ignoring them the next. I'm hoping to get everyone up to 13-15+. This year I'm really noticing the difficulty in the dev value. P.S. AWESOMEWININYOURFACE

I've skimmed the last page of argument because it's another stupid one. Jammy, your argument of 'memorable moments' is a purely subjective one. you may have less memorable moments simply because you have aged, seen more TV, more films, read more books, learned more about all sorts of subjects. To me the N64 was the ultimate memory manufacturer - but that was due to the time and place that I was in. There's no way that I can say that this generation is poorer than previous generations. I've spent more on games, played more games, invested more hours and therefore enjoyed myself for more hours this time round. Nostalgia holds you back, bro.

You take it in turns to put a piece of your colour onto the board. You start by putting one down in your corner, then you have to connect to that piece via the corners of both pieces... It sounds a little complicated but it's very straightforward and you quickly realise there's a lot of tactics at your disposal! It's really hard to dispose of all your pieces. A game lasts 20-30 mins (wouldn't be so long if people didn't spend ages thinking) and the way the scoring works means you aught to play several games in one sitting. I'm looking forward to trying it out! Yeah! Rhino poo! Comes with a banana seed so I can grow a banana tree, allegedly. It's from the National Geographic company so it's legit... I think... I was debating this with my girlfriend. I say debate; I posed the question and she told me how it was. Essentially she wanted to open the presents with me there.

I spent christmas alone last year. Was great fun! Cooked myself a proper roast, set my ironing board up for company, laid back on my lay-z-boy and watched whatever I wanted. But I wasn't properly alone. People called me, and I knew that my family and friends were out there somewhere enjoying themselves. It was one of my more memorable christmasses. I quite enjoyed it.

You've not defected yet, which means you're bad! Vote: Cube President: Heroicjanitor

Ah, not many that you're interested in. Well, can't help you there. Don't know how individual your taste is. New ip; Prototype, mass effect, crackdown, viva pinata, left 4 dead, portal, dead rising, dead space, kane and lynch, pure. gears, assassin's creed, deadly premonition, The darkness, rockband, blah blah blah. You can't complain about a lack of new IPs (of which there are many) then complain there are too many sequels (which is really the only way of telling that there's a new successful IP. Many of the ones I listed haven't had a sequel yet but clearly intend to). I'm pretty sure this generation has had just as many, if not more new IPs as any other has (quoting every title on the PS would be taking the piss, however). Having an issue with sequels is silly. Nearly every nintendo game is effectively a sequel. Even nintendo are doing sequels on the same platform again. None of this one-game-a-generation nonsense anymore (see: Mario 64). I don't get it. You buy a game, you like it, it has a sequel, you know you'll probably like it.

I just wanted to announce that I will be afk from now until monday afternoon - it's christmas and I'm travelling. Please do not consider my inactivity to mean I don't want to play! If my sister has the 'net then I'll try to log on. As it is, I'm far too... 'jolly' to read the thread now. I don't appear to have any information, but my scan of the write-up suggests we may have a few new leads

I got Traders and barbarians! It looks really, really, really confusing. There are all these 'scenarios' you're meant to play. It comes with so much new stuff, cards, pieces, tiles, etc... it's scary just to look at! I will probably get a game in on NYE and I'll try and let you know. I think my mate has one of the other expansions for christmas (it was him and his girlfriend that got me mine, and she had a present for him that looked to be a similar shaped box) so we'll see. I have a mate with catan and the 5-6 expansion but nobody I know has any of the proper expansion sets. But yeah - this expansion looks massive! Really looking forward to it As a present to myself I bought this; ... It's really good fun. Only had one game but it has such potential!

I know the ones you mean! They are too sickly. I usually think that they must be fairly new couples, or that they're going to be a fairly short-term couple. The long-term couples I know never feel the need to express their undying love publically, and I love that aspect in a relationship. The ability to just be together in a mixed crowd. I don't know how couply I appear. We walk arm-in-arm or hand-in-hand most places but not all the time. We're not all over each other's faces. What's weird is that in the last few months we've acquired another couple/. We do stuff together as a foursome. It's an odd dynamic that I'd not encountered before but it's really quite fun, if a bit grown-up for me. As for pet names - what do you have? I was instructed early in the relationship that we were not to have pet-names, so I try and call her something different each time. I don't know if she knows this. We have one stalwart one though; "you" ... It's cool as we can use it in public and nobody knows. That sort of secret language is definitely in the definition of a relationship. She's probably going to read this and tell me I'm completely wrong.

I'd honestly love a third film in another 20 years, but I doubt hollywood is capable of being awesome in that way.

Escaping into one's own mind is a fantastic thing. Coolness bears should write stuff. My personal forms of escapism are mildly varied, but safe 'things' that I have to do once in a while. Typically, downloading and watching an entire season of something as quick as I can. With cider. Or weed. But mostly cider these days. Weed makes the imagination flourish that little bit more. Anyway! I pretty much watched 70% of all Good TV Ever Made in a year (HYPERBOLE!) a few years ago, so then i started watching the epics. Tried to watch all the UFCS (there's 124 at, I got from 1 to 60? and seen all from 100), and now I've entered Star Trek mode (just about to start season 5, started watching definitely less than a month ago). I get immersed in that and forget my own failings in life. Occasionally a game takes this place and I just play maybe 20 hours of game in three days. My other form of escapism is the best in the universe, and is surely my greatest addiction (which is saying something) -- dreaming. I can have lucid dreams, and I have vivid and memorable dreams every night. I love dreaming more than (nearly) everything else. MMMMMMMM! Aside from that, occasionally thinking too much about things, like coolness does, except I don't fantasise as mentally as him. I think I am known for randomly posing a question when there's a comfortable silence. "if you were a bag of crisps, what flavour would you be?" was my first memorable one in 6th form years ago. Stuff like that. Not quite on topic. GAAAH WHY DOES THIS FORUM MAKE ME HAVE LONG POSTS OF LONG?! Stop now.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-11988466 Don't think this has been posted yet. Voyager (the space probe, not the star trek series) is soon going to be so far away that it will be in inter-stellar space. The gap between stars. No more solar winds. Just hardcore emptiness in space. This is the craft that has a naked man and woman etched onto the side. Imagine what the aliens'll do when they come down and see a bunch of bipeds with multicoloured fur roaming about. They'll think we killed those naked humans!

Lego Black Ops & other game parody Vids

JESYUS this thread is amazong. 'On a similar note' and/or 'a classic'; ... Not as real-lifey as the previous stuff, and found it on kotaku so you guys may've seen it. Not as funny as the rest of these - I think I've used all my thanks on this thread alone! -
Want to see moar pics of you two with people. Was anyone else dressed up? How will you top this next year?

So nintendohnut you're a young, bearded, peg-legged pirate. Who are you? I can't think of any pirates that fit your description! Another thread to follow eventually is to investigate all of the double voters. If they're captains of ships then it makes sense to have one good, one evil, one neutral.

I'm still awake. Sex me up or I'll find the key and the bold and show you what steel vertical venetian blinds look like.
