Lock down your wallets...the Steam sale has arrived!
S.C.G replied to Rummy's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Must have just missed the flash sale on them, still I think it's quite a good price for the decent games that they are supposed to be, yeah it would have been nice to get them even cheaper but oh well, I've been meaning to get into the series so this is ideal. -

I think I paid £6.99 for one and around £5.99 for the other two... still good prices but now they are all under a fiver each. Anyway, I've done quite well out of Steam recently so I suppose it doesn't matter too much. -

Thanks Steam... I bought all of the Ys games in their summer sale and they've now reduced them even more in a midweek madness sale, it's only a difference of a few pounds but still. Ah well they were still a bargain, but they are a real bargain now for anyone who hasn't got them yet. -
There's no need to get conned by Redd, just use this handy guide which incidentally was posted in this thread already a while back, not by me, but still I've used it ever since and have never bought a fake. http://www.thonky.com/animal-crossing-new-leaf/paintings-works-of-art/

Yes... because charging £6.99 for a digital version of a game that regularly sells for £250+ boxed is such a rip-off! Why aren't you just happy that it finally got a release in Europe? Personally I'm overjoyed and I even own an original copy of Earthbound but still picked up this VC release without question. That reminds me, I must dig out my players guide for this.

Games You Tried To Like But Didn't
S.C.G replied to Fierce_LiNk's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Dark Souls perhaps I'm just not masochistic enough to enjoy it... yet. Dishonored some cool elements to it but it all feels like its been 'done before' and to greater effect in other games. Resident Evil 6 *sigh* Rockstar Games yes all of them, I'm not saying that they're bad but when I've bought most of them over the years but have failed to complete any of them... you know something isn't quite right and yes I'll be buying GTA V for my sins. :p Saints Row the whole series really, just feels like it's 'there' which is fine but if it didn't exist... well that would be fine too. Zombi U I feel as if I should love it, but I just don't, annoying. -

Hmm in that case I might as well keep them in case anyone on here needs a particular card, if no one does then I'll probably just sell them. -

How long do we have to sell the cards? Do they disappear in 4 hours when the sale ends? (I've been away from Steam for a while, last time I had it on my PC was over 3 years ago, I only recently reinstalled it so I could take advantage of the spectacular sale) -
Without being too spoilerish, I think I'm about done in the second 'proper' town now as I've just got the second 'main' party member - including Ness - but then I did level up a fair bit along the way which has taken up a fair bit of time. But I am loving it at the moment, devoting every spare minute I have into playing it.

A sad day indeed. RIP Mel Smith.

Things That People Say About Games
S.C.G replied to Fierce_LiNk's topic in General Gaming Discussion
That is exactly what I'm trying to say. I get what you're saying, but I'd consider those two titles - and Pac-Man CE DX for that matter - to be spectacular games in their own right, I just don't understand why anyone would opt to play something as primitive as 'a game where you match socks' people have choice, yet they'll choose something that's clearly not very good. Yes they are 'games' I suppose what I was trying to say is that none of them even enter onto my radar because they just seem so dull, this is more about choice really, something I didn't really put across properly. Honestly though, I wish someone could explain to me why people would pay more than a few pounds for a really bad Facebook game - let's say for arguments sake that it's genuinely terrible - when they could buy a classic game for less off Steam. -
Things That People Say About Games

Yeah but... Justin Bieber doesn't even qualify as 'music' just irritating fucking noise. :p In the same way that the majority of facebook or iPhone 'games' don't qualify as being 'proper' games as they are generally an insult to the definition of the term. Anyone who only plays 'time-wasters' and dares to call themselves a gamer, I cannot/will not take seriously because to me, that's just an outright lie. -
Pocket Monster Hunter...

In a nutshell, as I understand this... you might get a 'great' deal by using this Flubit thing but just don't expect the game on release is what they are saying, obviously all orders for people who are paying the RRP will be shipped first, so I wouldn't do this for a game that you want on release as you'll probably end up disappointed. Might be ok for a game you're not so bothered about though, but then again you could always just wait until the price drops. I guess it's not for everyone. : peace:

I have it, I just... Anyway, Earthbound! Just started it, really enjoying it so far, will put in more play time later / over the weekend.
-
That's... odd to say the least, perhaps it only saves the position of fruit etc? I'm assuming that if this happens, you've got to fight the boss again maybe... but then that goes against the 'bosses take damage and keep that damage when you return the next day' so you would expect a dead boss to still be... dead when you return. I hope things like this don't bring down the review score. You are otherwise enjoying it though, right?
-
For what it's worth, I purchased both without hesitation, but then I was always going to. Fun times ahead! : peace:

Much like Pikmin is the only real-time strategy series that I like, I understand. : peace:
-
... But... Pokemon is turn-based? :p Ah well, each to their own. -------------------------- I can't wait to start playing this today.
-
Downloading now! Shantae AND Earthbound? a week before Pikmin 3 releases? I've really got my work cut out for me this time. :p
-
I can remember a time when 'Eggman' was only referred to as 'Robotnik'! Back then we even had such things as 'Special Stages' in the home console games. And what's more, Sonic only had about five friends... not fifty! *grumble grumble... give us Chaotix HD mumble mumble* ... Those screenshots look nice btw!

LED over Plasma any day... Also I have the smaller version* of that Samsung LED TV and it's fantastic. *well actually it's the model before that as mine isn't 3D but I've never really cared for it on a TV... not until they're all glasses-free anyway :P hmm this probably isn't too helpful...
-
^ That's actually a brilliant idea though it's sad to think that its come down to this... Plus a slight design flaw, a lot of those types of phones have a glass screen so I'm sure you'd get a load of condensation collecting on the phone; not that I care as I wouldn't own one of those but it's a consideration in any case. Honestly though I don't see why people wouldn't just turn off their phones for a short period of time or just put them away.

This... Forget the low-res textures on the ground, you're meant to forget them anyway... :p look at the glorious high-definition world around you, look at each perfectly rendered Pikmin looking back at you and try not to smile. Just don't look down... Besides we have come so far over the last couple of console generations, I still fondly remember the N64 era... my god, textures? What are those... we would cry. Fuck... this is out, in a week... and a half! H-Y-P-E-!
