Regarding the 'SNES' comment, all I meant was that it's nice to see a lot of 2D potential classics - just like we had in the SNES era - being brought to life in new ways with all these modern rendering techniques etc; for instance the wool in the new Yoshi title and the fantastic claymation used in Kirby. : peace: Of course a console needs a balance of good 2D games and 3D games but I don't have any doubts that the Wii U will receive a good mix. I'm equally excited by these new 2D titles as I am about playing new 3D titles, they're all surely going to be fantastic, exclusive experiences. But of course I can appreciate the fact that many are getting annoyed at the thought of 'another 2D platformer' coming out, costing the same amount to make as a 3D title, platfomers might not attract a certain crowd to the Wii U but then Nintendo's job is as much about keeping their existing audience interested as it is to attract new buyers; admittedly they need as many people to buy the Wii U as possible right now though I still think it's early days even at this point.

Happy Birthday! Hero-of-Time To one of the greatest Monster Hunters I've ever known and a genuinely all-round fantastic guy, have a great day! : peace: And enjoy a slice of Rathalos cake on us... ...who knows, you might carve a plate from it.

Metroid Fusion, without a doubt... but then, you knew that I was going to say that. Seriously though, one of the best GBA games ever made and one of the best Metroid games in the series to date. : peace:

So the Wii U is becoming the new SNES in terms of 2D platformers and this is a BAD thing? I think it's fine just so long as we get those crucial much needed titles as well such as Star Fox, F-Zero and Metroid in some form or another within a year or so. In my mind that means, so there's a new F-Zero in development? Fantastic but lets have the other games on the Virtual Console in the meantime.

It's all good. : peace: Was quite fun playing online with you both for a bit, also you're pretty well practised with Peach, looks like I'll have to try harder to beat you next time.

Happy Birthday!

^ That's our 'Megaton' right there then!

The whole map on the gamepad hasn't really been an issue for me but I don't see why Nintendo won't just apply a patch to allow people the choice to put it on the screen if they like, also it could work the other way, so that you could put EVERYTHING on the gamepad leaving just the action on the top-screen... completely pointless perhaps but still, HUD-less Mario Kart in HD. : peace:

Thank you, this is what I've been waiting for, now it's time for me to get the VC reviews back on track. You don't think there's any chance that we'll get any more surprise releases today though do you? Surely they will save the rest to bulk out the schedule in the coming weeks. Both good, worth owning... will be downloading them today at some point hopefully, reviews after the weekend is done, which will give me time to catch up as I've been *slacking. *I'm totally blaming the fantastic Treehouse sessions for this, as I've been glued to them.

I think it's a brilliant concept, all I want from it are two things... Pro Controller support - as in I want to be player 1 with the pro controller, only using the gamepad when necessary. Headset support - because... it's basically a TPPS - Third Person Paint Shooter - so it requires communication. Aside from this, I'm sold! : peace:
-
So... are we expecting any more megatons today? Isn't it the last day that Nintendo will be broadcasting the Treehouse Live? Surely there has got to be something good... F-Zero announcement alongside him appearing in Smash Bros is a near certainty isn't it?
-
Well for what it's worth, I liked them... ...neither of the two main games demoed looked like they'd end up being full retail titles at this stage but I think that's the point. It was just nice to see a couple of projects shown in-depth at such an early stage in their development and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if all three games ended up being released as 'Miyamoto Collection' or something similar but honestly I'd be happier if the two newer IP's ended up being eShop titles and that Starfox ended up being made into a more substantial offering shown at E3 in near-finished form next year, due for release a couple of months after. But for now I wouldn't mind seeing the current Starfox appear as an episodic eShop title as some form of teaser a few months from now, I'm quite happy either way. : peace:

ReZ... I'm really sorry to hear that. *man hug*

Also I think that video in particular highlights once again that Masahiro Sakurai in addition to being a living legend is such a nice guy too. : peace:
-
Hmm I thought they were at least going to announce it now at 2am? Did I miss something? I know they will be going in-depth on it tomorrow but there was supposed to be some kind of announcement wasn't there?
-
Calling it... Advance Wars / Metroid combined! :P Metroid Wars!

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate up next.

I've never played the original Elite but I have a huge amount of respect for that game and what it achieved on the original hardware back in the day. This has the potential to be something rather special indeed, almost like a re-imagining of sorts. I get the feeling that this is probably the kind of game that the original developers would have loved to have made and now it's a reality! : peace:

To anyone wishing to remain spoiler free you might wish to stay inside this thread and not check the Nintendo Gaming sub-forum before the show is over as there is a thread revealing what's believed to be one of the leaked titles. So if you're in here, stay here and don't move thread until after the conference is my advice, just a heads up. : peace:
-
I'm not going to spoil it for anyone but I did Google to see and all I can say is daaaaaaaaayyyyummm! I can't wait to see it all properly unveiled in the direct. : peace: Almost as if I won't actually believe until I see it in motion. (none of these words are even a hint btw) But yes... hype levels through the roof for me now!
-
It has certainly come along considerably since we last saw it so colour me hyped! : peace:
-
Great news for some perhaps but I was never interested in the first Dead Island game. So naturally this is just another sequel that isn't for me. : peace:
-
Never played before... (shame on me!) ...will play when this comes out. (balance restored!) : peace:

Hype Hype! HYPE!! All abooooooaaaard!

Vaguely interesting trailer, this likely won't be exclusive to Wii U though so it's one of those download games where you can just choose to get it on whichever platform has it at the cheapest price or even free - platforms permitting of course - so it's Ok but nothing amazing. : peace:
