Discussions would be easier if Serebii could provide us with quotes to back up his absolutes, and did not just conveniently gloss over posts that actually counteract points he makes. It's often not his opinion he's stating, it's Nintendo's. If 'In my opinion' was used then fair enough, but instead the finger is pointed in your face and things are stated as fact.

A Donkey Kong Minecart runner/level would be a cool thing to release on mobile to give people a taste.

By all means state it as your opinion, or find a recent quote from Nintendo to back up what you are saying. But do not tell people what topics they should be discussing on here, or flat out tell someone it is not worth their time, just because you yourself do not agree with it.

@Serebii please stop this. This is a discussion forum. I don't want to speak for everyone, but I believe the vast majority on here are not always concerned with what is and is not always realistically possible. The fun comes in sharing and exploring ideas, and dreaming about possibilities. Being creative and exploring new ideas is no doubt one of the reasons why we all enjoy video games. You do not work for Nintendo and so cannot categorically either way what will or will not happen with the future of the company.

@Daft that was one of my main thoughts too. Nintendo put so much time and money into console development and R&D, they seem to put a lot of pressure upon themselves in this department, as does the industry as a whole. And whilst they dedicate so much to it, worryingly they haven't been doing particularly well at it in recent years and arguably being quite hit and miss with it throughout their history, in terms of misreading industry trends and giving gamer what they actually want in terms of hardware and software. It's exciting to think what they could do in terms of hiring new staff, setting up new studios and developing new industry partnerships with all that weight off their shoulders. However @Dcubed brought up some interesting counter points

I worry that whilst that may be a great game, that it won't catch on at all. I hope they can come up with a cast of characters that can at least be somewhat as successful and have the public care about as much as they do certain Resi ones.

I read someone from Capcom say that a new team works on each Resident Evil (probably since 4?). Getting the Resi 4 team back together would be a good start!

Thread reopened The last page (smartphone app/games related conversation) was really interesting discussion to read as I was going through cleaning the thread up. Let's keep it that way and on track.

What happened to Ghost Recon Online, that was really being driven as a big online game for Wii U during its reveal? I think it was only also coming to PC? The Wii U version just got ditched did it?

It'll give them more time to film it back to back with Justice League

You have the option of Nintendo able to carry on making fantastic games (and actually have the weight and expense of console R&D off their shoulders freeing up more money and time to dedicate on game design) or disappear completely and you choose the latter.

Well before the only place for it was the Wii U thread because no one had created a thread for it. Now there is one, and this will be the place to put it should anyone have something to say on the subject

Can I just pop in and say to the... 'This is the Wii U thread, I want to discuss *so and so* in here' and not *X Y Z*'... There is a create thread button. If you can see a discussion is cluttering up a thread and would be best placed else where, create a place for it! Even if you don't think it's a topic you yourself are that interested in, but are fed up of seeing it getting in the way of others. It's getting a bit ridiculous, it's as though only Mods are allowed to create threads or something and members wait for it to happen and get angry when it doesn't. It would be best for the forum all round if people just got into the habit of creating new areas for discussion, we have both the Nintendo and General Gaming boards for it. Not only would it encourage discussion, it would free up threads and keep them more focused which is what a number of members seem to want. Go crazy. Worst that happens is it gets merged or closed if deemed unnecessary... best that happens is a much more active, happier environment where you can choose the threads/subjects you're interested in discussing.

Nintendo should jump on the Skylanders, Disney Universe, NFC bandwagon.

Well yeah but for some reason it's not happening :p Just thinking how they could re-position it. The e-shop should be flooded with Nintendo micro games, mini games and board games. Why not put all the games in Wii U Party up as individual £1.99 impulse buy downloads or something? that sort of thing. I think the device would be far more attractive as more of a gaming tablet. And having the Layton games pre-installed and things like NES Remix to download to give it a Nintendo differentiator.

Anyone else think the Gamepad would be successful is it was just a stand alone product for £79.99 or something? Have it on the coffee table, pack it full of traditional puzzle games, board games, sports games like pool/table football/hockey etc... Put the likes of Brain training, professor layton on it for families to sit with and share, give it dedicated games like Mario Party for families to pass round and have fun with on a night in... Have educational software on there, books, features like that Louvre tour guide etc...

Dazzybee that is what people are doing, just because you don;t think Nintend should release there games on other consoles doesn't mean it isn't a discussion point/option for Nintendo who are having somewhat of a mini crisis atm. You can'y deny it would bring them a lot of money, they wouldn't have to spend on R&D (which clearly they are doing atrociously at, or at least they very slow at catching up/reading the market). Also it's not a bad thing atm. But will you be playing the next COD etc... online with your friends? It's hard to say, and that IS a bad thing. Where as the other consoles are future-proofed for the next 5-6 years. So there is a problem which will need addressing.

Then with that logic, wouldn't no Wii U mean the 3DS did even better? I don't see how? If the 3DS was the only place for people to get handheld Mario Kart, 2D Mario, and Nintendo handheld exclusives like always I'd have thought sales would be as strong as ever if not better.
