Yeah, it doesn't add that much, but it's just Marilyn's take on it. I'm not sure how to define his style, but he did the same thing with the cover of Tainted Love. The sorta "growly rock for teenagers." He's got his fans, and they like him for that, so this cover fits in well for that. It won't be remembered like the Johnny Cash version, or the Tori Amos one. They put their own spin on it, and it's pretty different to what we had with the original. I'm not a huge fan of Manson cover, but I don't think it's too terrible.

You know, I don't think the Marilyn Manson version is that awful. It's not particularly great, but I've definitely heard worse.

Haha at the first bit. Brilliant song, though. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_Jesus#Cover_versions_and_samples I think Johnny Cash's version could be my favourite cover of it. Now, do I like it more than the original, hmm. Very closer.

It depends what sort of end you want for the album, I think. The rocky ending, or the soft ending. What we got was pretty awesome, so it's really just some small what-ifs or nitpicks. I do tend to listen to a lot of songs individually nowadays rather than albums, so it's not particularly an issue that means a lot to me at the moment.

It's not really in the best place on the album, and it may have been better being the last song on the album maybe? Or the one before Everlong. Hmm, possible.

Hmm, that's a bit of a blow for Arsenal, I think. No doubt they'll march on, but he's such an influential player for you. I think we should start doing a prediction for upcoming games. I was going to post my prediction on the internationals. England 2 - 1 Croatia Wales 0 - 2 Russia Scotland 1 - 2 Netherlands They were my predictions. I was a bit out with that England scoreline, and the rest it was only really a goal here or there...heh. I'm a tad bit worried about the game versus Spurs. It's going to be a juicy game. I've got a feeling we'll see something special this weekend.

Really? I prefer that version, there just seems to be a lot more substance there. It's got more of a kick to it, in my opinion. Hmm, you see, I actually love that song, and it's one of my top songs off the album. It's a great album, and I'm not sure myself which one I'd class as the weakest from it. Hmm.

I've heard Muse are releasing a new album. Is this true?! I can't find any info or impressions anywhere. I rarely post in here, but the Music Warz has made me realise that enough people do not appreciate the Foo Fighters here. It's also on the X-Files Movie soundtrack, which is pretty sweet. I love this song, and could happily sleep listening to eet, as it is so soothing. I can play it pretty decently on guitar, and that little rake of notes at the beginning is my favourite part. Its so satisfying. Dammit, video embedding is disabled in that video.

Stop That Pigeon...The One Faster Than The Internets!
Fierce_LiNk replied to Fierce_LiNk's topic in General Chit Chat
True, maybe there is some dispute regarding the size of the data being transfered. But, my bet is that the initial size of data which that staff member was transfering was 4GB. Which then traveled slowly, and which he claimed "Could be transfered faster by pigeon." That's my bet. Hence why it was done with that particular size. Still, a fun challenge. Do not underestimate your office workers...or pigeons. -
"I Wish I never had taken this Dare I wasn't quite prepared." "There goes my hero Watch him as he goes." (wrrrrr waaaa wahhhhhhh wrrrr wooo worrrrrr)

Good man. It's generally regard as The Holy Grail by a lot of Foos fans. So many quality songs on that album. My Hero, Walking After You, Hey Johnny Park! and so forth. I don't think they've made a better album since. (although I love There Is Nothing Left To Lose, but I think the previous has that touch more quality)

I rate both songs extremely highly. But, in any contest, there are very, very few songs out there which I would put above Everlong. It's one of these songs that I've listened to for years, and it's always there for me. The same can be said in part for Fake Plastic Trees, but Everlong is much more personal to me. I didn't pick this song because I wanted it to win the whole competition. I picked it because I liked it more than the other song it was up against. Naturally, I would be happy if it did win, and it's got more than enough quality to do so. But, in essence, it's a music grudge match. One song against another, one goes through, one song against another another, one passes on, rinse and repeat. If it's struggling against Everlong, what is the betting that Fake Plastic Trees wouldn't struggle in the next round anyway?

Hehe, seeing the Dick Dastardly love in the other thread inspired me a little bit for the title for this one. A member of staff at Unlimited IT, based in South Africa, complained about the speed of his data being transmitted on ADSL by the country's biggest web-firm, Telkom. He claimed that "a carrier pigeon could send the data faster." So, the challenge commenced: An 11-month old pigeon, with a 4GB memory stick attached Vs. Telkom, the Country's biggest web firm. The data was to be sent from Unlimited IT's call centre in Howick to the company's office in Durban - a distance of 60 miles. So, who won? It took the bird one hour and eight minutes to travel, and a further hour to upload the data onto the system. In that same time, the data transmission by ADSL had only transfered 4% of the data... I find your lack of faith disturbing. What is with this Everlong un-love? Seriously, does it just not help you guys come close to orgasm? Its beautiful. Just listen to that opening guitar before the heavy one kicks in. Listen to eeeet.

Nooo...it couldn't have been a trick. I mean...damn...it could have been a trick! This morning, I woke up, and I think I've taken my anal virginity for granted. Oh, what could have been. In my head, I was a bit scared that she would turn out to be freakishly small, like...3 foot or something. She kept mentioning that she wished she was taller, and in my head the alarm bells were ringiiiing, haha. I was a bit worried I'd have to carry her on my shoulders at Disneyland, so she could see the parades! In all seriousness, nah, I was not worried. The only thing that worried me every so slightly was the thought of us not getting along or something, heh.

Trailer for the New Zelda game may be released in October
Fierce_LiNk replied to canand's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I think we're going to see Nintendo do a 4th person game. 4th person meaning that we're actually controlling the person who controls the main character in the game. Kinda like a puppet...with another puppet attached to the one you're already controlling. You know, this started out as a daft post, but I'm convincing myself. Give me my fourth person game, Nintendo! -
There are two concerns that I have with him. - Like you said, he kept floating offside and needs to make more of an effort to come back onside. - His finishing wasn't that great with his two chances. But, is that down to confidence or ability? I have to agree with Ramar, Heskey did a lot of work last night for the frontline. I lost count on the number of times he closed down defenders or the goalkeeper. He also tracked back to midfield and won a few balls there, which then led to an England attack. You can't doubt his work-rate, imo. The only thing he is not doing is putting the ball in the net. Also, like Ramar says, Rooney was a bit off-colour. Although, saying that, he set up one goal (Gerrard's second, with that lovely lobcross into the box) and scored the fifth (although, it came gift-wrapped). So, for someone not having a great game, he still didn't do too badly. I think his movement was still pretty good throughout. The midfield were seriously impressive though, particularly in that first half. They won everything, kept possession well, and built up their attacks. It was a mature performance. Fresh: Like you say, there's a lot of wingers and players on offer for the team. It's just a shame for countries like Wales where we just don't have the players coming through. It's a big problem, in my opinion, and I don't think we'll reach a World Cup for quite some time with what's on offer. Compare the team that played last night to the Russians, who boasted Arshavin, Pavlyuchenko, Semshov, etc. There's a struggle to build a team there, nevermind one which can actually challenge or compete with the bigger nations. Also, Arshain is injured for the game against City. Damn, I wanted him to destroy them.

That Devil's workout does look quite tasty, and so does that Ab Ripper one, too. Pretty much any video I've seen has always stated that you need to cut down on body fat first, so I'm still working on that. I'm trying to do more cardio/running work more often...and it's tiring me out, haha. My legs and triceps were knackered yesterday from the previous two gym visits. I went today to do some chest work, which was pretty ok. I've noticed that I've found it a bit of a struggle with my bench-pressing and pectoral flys, so I've moved the weight down a notch so that I can just get back into the rhythm again. Gonna try some of these ab exercises tomorrow.

Derren Brown predicting the lotto numbers...
Fierce_LiNk replied to flameboy's topic in General Chit Chat
The guy is good at what he does, and he gets people talking. I haven't seen it myself, but it does sound like an awesome "trick" to pull. When everyone tries to work out what he does, I think it can get over the top, and sometimes the audience themselves can kill the magic. He's an entertainer, so he's aiming to entertain his audience. So, as far as that goes, he's doing a good job. But, how will you feel once you do find out how it is done? Sure, it's cool knowing how exactly he has done it, but then I think the magic in the act itself is almost surely lost then. -
That was a pretty nifty England performance. As Ramar says, it just all seemed very together. I think the players actually enjoy playing for England under Capello, whereas before they often seemed a bit intimidated by the shirt. I guess with it comes expectation. As for Heskey, I did have my head in my hands when he missed those opportunities, but overall I think he did his job well. He really needs to work on his finishing, though. I also can't remember the last time a player actually played better for England than they did their club. Lennon probably had one of his best games playing for England. Looked a threat all night and the Croatians couldn't handle him. If he plays like this more often, he'll cement his place in that line-up. On another note, another pretty disappointing night for Wales, losing 3-1 to Russia. To be honest, we haven't looked half decent since Mark Hughes was in charge. Even then, they weren't World Beaters, but I think better football was played, and there was more cohesion throughout the squad. The problem is there's just no quality. It seems like a struggle to find players for every position, which means the team just has to make do. You compare the Wales and Scottish line-ups to the England team. The England sub's bench is probably better than the Wales (and maybe the Scottish) first team.

Aww, thank you for this guys and girls. Hopefully there will be more years unless she decides to keeel meee naaaw. Which she won't. I hope. I like my life. Please don't kill me. Welllll, it pretty much came from nothings. There was a post that one of us made on the forums about Belgium being a few tongue spaces apart from Wales, and then I sent a PM because I thought it was funny. I think the next day I just asked how she was doing, then we struck up a cool friendship. It was during the summer, so I was working during the day, coming home, and then visiting N-E for a few hours or so. So, it quickly got into the rhythm of work, come home, see how the regulars are on MSN (them being...ViPeR/Joe), and seeing how she was. She quickly became the other woman in me and Joe's relationship. Homewrecker! I remember being pissed off and tired from work, so wanted a nice break somewhere. So, she suggested I go to Disneyland, and I said I had noooo one I could really ask to go wiiith at such short notice. So, she joked about herself going, and then we chuckled. Thinking "ya right, like that's ever gonnna happen!" So, a few weeks later, I was still tired from work, and said I really needed a holiday. We joked about Disneyland, and then I thought "Why not?" So, we just booked it. It was never ended as a meet-up for sex0r or something, it was just a nice little break-away, I think. Although, the prospect of being with a hot female did appeal to me. Screw you, Wales - I've gone European! Eurostar tickets came, the hotel was all booked up, and so the big day came. We were going to Paris, but I said it would be nicer if I went to Belgium first to get her, because it seemed a bit rude to get to Paris and for her to get there alone. So, I got the train from London to Brussels, then we went to Paris. It was a pretty scary day for me, because I was a bit worried that we wouldn't hit it off and she'd think "oh noes, he is a disappointment! I'm going to my room!" kinda thing. I left my house in Brighton at about half 4 in the morning, got to the train station, got chatting to this tall Nigerian bloke who was also waiting for a train, made my way to Londonia, and then to Belgiumland. The rest, I think, is history. No webcams or animals were involved or harmed throughout these events. So, how did it come about? Quite randomly, I think. But, probably the best random thing that's ever happened. There's probably a lot of the story I didn't tell, heh. I like that post. Very well thought-up.

Haha, Evra and Park are best mates. Carlos Tevez was also a close mate of theirs, before he defected to City, so I don't know what's happening there. But yes, they're crazy. I laughed and groaned at the same time. Well played.

There's quite a few films I've seen lately, but the trouble is I...seem to forget quite a few things theeese days. Lost in Translation I know a lot of people do not like this movie. Or, that quite a few people think that they are forced to like it. Thankfully, I didn't see this film straight after it came out. Infact, I didn't see the film until about two years ago, when I was around a friend's house, after I had finished my last day of working at a particular call-centre. Needless to say, I got pretty drunk, and we eventually made it back to his place for a sit down, a few films, and a bottle or two of Magners. So, he went out the back for a smoke on his cigarette (and spliff) for a verrrry long time, and I sat and watched pretty much the entire film whilst he was gone, haha. I sat there, drinking my cider, and having a daaaamn good time. That is when I first saw the movie. I remember being sucked in, and just in awe of it, particularly the awesome soundtrack and the beauty of Scarlett Johansson. I've seen it quite a few times since. It still feels as fresh to me as when I originally watched it, and it just seems like a fascinating journey to go through. I think a lot of us, at some point, feel a sense of isolation or loneliness, or feel that they are in a place which is sometimes alien to them. I identified with that, and I think it made the film that bit more accessible to me, perhaps. Bill Murray is awesome, and he's always had a brilliant sense of humour, and this was no exception. The relationship he had with Scarlett throughout is something I could watch over and over, particularly that scene when they're on the bed and he's talking about how life ends when you have kids. (and where he touches Scarlett's foot so subtly with his hand). Then, there's that final scene, when the Jesus and Mary Chain music kicks in. 9/10 It's one film that I hold close to my heart. Straightheads This was on last night, and it stars Danny Dyer and Gillian Anderson. Now, I am a big fan of hers, because I find her very attractive, and the X-Files, of course. This film is very different to what we've come to expect of her, so it was quite interesting to see how she'd perform. In this film, Gillian and Danny are involved in a very vicious attack on the roadside, which subsequently leads to Gillian being gang raped. The rape itself is quite graphic, but it is shot from a particular angle so that you see Gillian's face, and not the attack itself, kinda. Through a chance encounter, Gillian comes face to face with one of her attackers, and her and Danny plan their revenge. It's a pretty twisted film, although it is very short. I think it only clocked in at around 80 minutes or something, so very short. As a result of being short, I don't think you develop too much of a backstory for the characters, and in a sense you feel less like you can identify with them, or learn about their personas. That being said, you sympathise with them because of their ordeals, and there is one particular scene at the end of the film where Gillian gets her revenge by:

As with all Rock Band and Guitar Hero games, the off-putting thing is the price. It's just too damn expensive for me. Getting a game itself is tricky enough, but buying all the instruments for this too, it's just way beyond my means. I bought Guitar Hero 3 with a guitar, and I still play it quite a bit. I love it. Brilliant game. If I had the money, this would be a no-brainer. But, it's just way too expensive. Enjoy your purchase, Dazzy.

Hmm, you could be onto something there. I think there are about 3 or 4 qualities that you need from a goalkeeper. These would be: Agility You want your goalkeeper to be quite nimble and quick on their feet. Somebody who can reach that bottom corner, then be back on their feet quickly, alert to any danger. Height If you notice one thing about the goalkeepers for pretty much all times in the Premier League, you'll notice that they are quite big lads. If you're taller, it just makes it easier when you're coming for crosses, or for reaching that bottom corner, or when it comes to closing down the opposition. Reflexes/Split Decision Making Keepers need to be quick. A sluggish goalkeeper is a useless one. Think about how fast players like Cristiano Ronaldo can strike the ball, that's something you always need to be alert to. Ben Foster made a terrific save with his feet the other day against Arsenal. Also, with crosses, you need to decide in your head whether you are coming for the ball, or whether you are going to stay put. Otherwise, you get caught in no man's land. How tall are female goalkeepers? How agile are they? What about their decision making or reflexes? These are some of the questions that need to be asked of them in order to improve the quality of goalkeepers in women's football.
