WHO YOU CALLING OLD?!
Thank you, dude. May your days be blessed and as joyful as your avatar. Fuck yeah, Kirby. Fuck yeah!

Preach that shit, baby! All of you Dead Space Haters lose at life. It was a brilliant game. I'm not going to lie, I think a little pee came out whilst I played that game. Partly due to the intensity, and partly due to excitement. Of the sexual kind. Brilliant game. Controlled like a dream, the pace was well executed and despite there being quite a few characters, they managed to create a perfect sense of isolation. Chapter 9 is one of my favourite gaming memories of this generation.

Thank you very much guys and girls. Also, mega-thanks to the Ine for making this lovely thread for meee. Yesterday was a good day. I started eet off by staying up late playing Cursed Mountain on the Wii, with my candles on in the background illuminating the room. I had to wake up early to pick up my housemate from work. Then went back to bed, only to wake up to the sound of my phone. I spoke to my Mum whilst half asleep. Yees yees yess, mumble mumble, but it was a nice conversation. Although, I went back to sleep, then woke up wondering if that really happened or not. I went to the gym and had an awesome chest workout, whilst watching some of the Merseyside Derby. Got home, had something to eat before tripping off to the pub to catch the United/Spurs game, which didn't turn out as great as I wanted/expected eet to be. Got home, did some ironing and then ordered awesome pizza avec mijn housemates. I was feeling pretty tired for some reason, probably due to the food and drinkings. My housemates gave me my presents, which were a hello kitty car freshener thing (errr), Who Framed Roger Rabbit on Dvd (FUCK YEAH) and a loooovely incense box, which pictures of the moon and stars engrave on the side (megafuckyeah). I had already received Ine's birthday presents for me when she came down. They were Muramasa, which is fucking awesome! Epic Mickey!!! Which I didn't expect. Aaaand: THE ULTIMATE MR BEAN BOXSET! With Teddddyyyy. Best Present Evaaaaa. I went upstairs after giftings to converse met de Ine, and lit my newly given to me Incense stuffs (I tried the vanilla first, and I've also used the orange stuff since. Mmm). My night then consisted of me, Ine, orange scented incense, and Sigourney Weaver heroically going into the Alien's nest to rescue Newt and beat that Queen. THE BITCH.

Yeah, but he said they were in the same room for hours with nothing happening. So, I thought it was just more of that.

YES YESSSS! Lamebook is a secret pleasure of mine. I check that place almost daily. Love it. Some make me laugh so hard. Thank God I'm not alone.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I read his post as: We're sleeping together. As in, we're falling asleep together. And, "some serious shit is about to go down soon" as: We'll end up sleeping together/having sex soon. Is that right?

Those game will sell stupid amounts anyway. But, what about the lesser known games? Those lesser known companies are the ones who get affected a significant amount by piracy.

Got a birthday card through the post today, from Ine. Wasn't expecting that, hehe. Also, got one from my Mum and another from my brothers yesterday. Wohoo.

The key thing there is that you say a version of Ridley. Yeah, she has already fought Ridley in different forms. However, what she sees is not a "form" or version of Ridley. It actually IS Ridley, the same Ridley which she believes that she killed a short while ago. Thats at least how I interpreted it anyway. I did find this battle with Ridley a lot more intimidating than other previous battles. Mainly because this time there was a bit more emotion involved. A lot of the time it was "another boss" but you felt there was a bit more at stake this time. Samus does fight back, though. She is only momentarily frozen by her fear, which is the same fear that she remembers as a child, hence the flashback. Also, Ripley is momentarily frozen as well, but she eventually overcomes her fear and fights back. Hence the heroic scene in Aliens where she goes into the Hive to rescue Newt. There are parallels there.

If Torres went, it would be very bad for Liverpool. Purely because they're recent track record of replacing players has been awful. N'Gog is your second choice striker, which is hugely unfair on the lad when he has so much still to learn. He should be at least third or fourth. Basically, if Torres is out, he's your first choice. The equivalent of that is Macheda being first choice at United. Just isn't ready.

I never owned a PS2, ultimately because I still don't like the controller (even after years of using one for pro evo, fifa, a few other games) and because the system never clicked with me. However, I want to play 2 and possibly the original. I've not heard good things about 3, though, onwards. Huh? What was wrong with Shattered Memories? I thought it was very good. The best part of it though was definitely the exploration parts. I enjoyed the nightmare scenes, I found them quite frantic, but in a future game I would prefer if the two worlds "collided" and weren't seperate. So, it would be good if you had a sense of danger throughout the whole game.

Oh, I know what you're saying. But, what I'm just saying is that it's not the end of the world if the soundtrack doesn't work outside of the game. If anything, if I want to listen to the soundtrack, it just makes me more encouraged to go and play the game again.

I think OR ELSE and Kav make very good points which are hard to argue against. Imo, I think the story in Other M was handled superbly. It kept me on the edge, wanting to learn more. I don't think it portrayed Samus in a bad light or a "sissy" light at all. Lets think about the character of Ellen Ripley for a second, who is taken from the Alien series, of which the Metroid series takes a loooot of inspiration from. Is she a sissy for being reluctant to go to the planet in the second film? Is she a sissy for being frightened when the one alien stands barely inches from her in the third film? No. You see emotion, but you also see strength. Samus's strength is that in each battle she ultimately fights and wins. She was taken aback by seeing Ridley (seriously, who wouldn't. Look at it...) and the Queen. But, she fights. I'm glad the character has personality, rather than one of these "oh she's silent and alone so she must be tough" cliches. As OR ElSE also correctly says, throughout the series she displays moments of humanity and preservation. With the constant reference to Baby, it was there to show the attachment she had grown to the creature, which mirrors the attachment that the creature had towards her. Also, for the Ridley cutscene, it will only not make sense if you don't know the backstory, that Ridley was responsible for the death of her parents when Samus was a kid. As OR ELSE says, maybe an extended cutscene where they showed the deaths or something would have been useful. ~ ~ ~ I finished the game yesterday and have now saved to go back to look for upgrades and stuff. I found the battle against Queeny a bit confusing at first but once I knew what to do it was a doddle. Those fucking Metroids kept jumping onto me, though, which made it annoying the first few times.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3DS
Fierce_LiNk replied to Retro_Link's topic in Nintendo Gaming
As much as I love Ocarina of Time, it still bugs me that somebody will rather play this instead of a fresh new game for the 3DS. Wouldn't it have been amazing to have a completely new Zelda for the 3DS? Right at the start of its lifespan? -
Yeah, but my point is that the music is designed to go with the game. It isn't designed for you to listen outside of the game. I don't really see the problem with that. There may be examples where atmospheric music can work outside of the game, but in this case, I think its fine. Besides, when you judge a game's soundtrack, you base it on how well it sounds inside the game anyway, not out of it. So, its almost a pointless...err...point?

YA RLY. So, lets forget about life after Wii for a second and think about Life During Wii. What are you all playing at the moment, those of you whose Wiis are not currently gathering dust? I've found myself in the predicament of having too many games on the go, and clearly not enough time to finish them. My main ones are: Metroid: Other M Really enjoying this. Its got this new and fresh feeling about it, an energy. Particularly enjoying the cut-scenes and learning all I can about the main plot of the game. Controls are really working for me, as well. Cursed Mountain Considering that I only paid a few quid for this, it's surprisingly quite good. Strange theme and concept, but it works, and the game does have an unsettling and uncomfortable atmosphere surrounding it. Love it. Muramasa Stylish, beautiful, quirky and fun. Four words to describe this game. Really have enjoyed what I've played so far. The combat system is very fun, the story segments are very, very odd and the game boasts a beautiful art style that simply draws you in. Zelda: Twilight Princess Started this before Christmas, up to the third dungeon and just can't find the time to squeeze this in with the other ones. Brilliant game and quite under-rated in my opinion.

Why would you want to? If the soundtrack is created to accompany a particular scene in the game or made to fit the game itself, then why listen to it out of context? Play tha game, agaaaaain.

With Kenny back at Liverpool, I can't see Gerrard going anywhere. Bringing him in was pretty much a crowd-pleaser. I can't believe just how bad things have gotten there. Its quite shocking really. Maddog, I'm looking at your team (particularly that line behind Torres) and as great as it seems on paper, it just wouldn't work in practice, not with the players in their current form anyway. Joe Cole hasn't been anywhere near as good as we know he can be. Nowhere near. Maxi isn't all that, as you mention. And Johnson has hardly played as a RW, if at all, although I think that's where he should play. It says a lot when a lot of Liverpool fans have already replaced him with Kelly as their preference at right back.

Hmm, I disagree with all of that entirely. I don't really see how it makes her a pussy. She is a human after all, and this game showed that. There was an emphasis on her vunerable side, which hasn't been explored before. I'd rather the character had...well...character, rather than just shooting things mindlessly like a drone, which we know that Samus isn't. OR ELSE YOU WILL DIE hit the nail on the head when he explained why she reacted in that way. Completely understandable. It would have been hugely underwhelming had the character just turned up and Samus just fought it. Where's the emotion? It's probably one of my favourite scenes from modern games. I'm probably going to be talking about that scene in years to come. Loved it. There's a real sense of terror and dread. How can that be seen as a negative? Don't understand that.

Game music is veeeeeery important. Even Game Sounds are important, haunting melodies, the sounds of your character's footsteps, creaking floorboards, etc. The sound is a very under-rated aspect of gaming. Without the sound, Silent Hill Shattered Memories would not be half the game it was to me. I don't understand how anyone can play a game with the sound off. Maybe the sound turned down, but completely off? That's alien to me. I even played Pokemon Red with the sound on, despite its repetitiveness. It was part of the whole experience, for me. Although, I do have experiences where I played music alongside the game. For example, I used to listen to my old stuff whilst playing Perfect Dark. It added to the whole experience of being young, for me. I still loved the soundtrack, but there were occassions where I had my music on alongside it. The two blended together to form something quite special.

Screw you, I like the idea. As earlier said, it's a welcome change to "oh noes, I has to find my body parts." I've been playing this for about 3 or 4 hours tonight, and I'm reeeeally, really, reaaaaally fucking loving this game.
-
It is a good idea. But, what I was getting at was releasing the three games on the same system, enabling them to do a collecter's edition/trilogy edition. I have a feeling that there will be a different type of Mario platformer on the 3DS. Something new entirely.
-
Maybe release a third and complete the trilogy? Super Mario Galaxy 3. It just sounds right. Then, they would release a special edition collector's pack which contains all three, and make a mountain of money.

Capcom are dirty thieving bastards, scumbags, sources reveal.
Fierce_LiNk replied to Dan_Dare's topic in Other Consoles
There's a difference between taking ideas and parts off each other and this, which is pure plagiarism. The kick in the teeth has to be the part where they showed this to Capcom, who then turned it down. Which means that Capcom were completely aware of exactly what they doing. They can't even plead ignorance to this because they're well aware of this game's existence.
