I haven't tried front squats before, so may give that a try. I've got about 80kg worth of weight at the moment. I do bent over barbell rows, as I prefer them to bent over rows (using a bench and dumbell). There's quite a bit I can do. I tried doing some sort of makeshift t-bar row the other day, but scavenging around the house looking for things to "secure hold" the bar was quite a task. :p

I managed to watch The Fountain after renting it from LoveFilm. Fuck, what a film! Simply incredible from start to finish. Also, DAT SOUNDTRACK! Some of the best music I've ever heard in a film. It's beautiful to look at during certain parts, whilst also containing quite a few different messages. I also feel that the last 10 minutes can be down to interpretation, to some extent. Possibly the whole film can be interpreted in many different ways. I curiously read up some reviews afterwards, checked the IMDB score and RottenTomatoes...shocked to see it got quite negative reviews. Don't really know what's not to like about it...

I don't think either player really had control of the ball. There wasn't a lot of intent to cause harm, either. Genuinely thought both players were just going for the ball in a typical derby-like fashion. Saying that, I can see why it's dangerous, they're both off the ground, it's quite high. Liverpool's problem is to do with the transfer window. Borini withstanding, they badly needed a striker. All that possession today and nothing to show for it. They won't catch United playing that badly again.

Yeah, England don't really play with a partnership. Could be Rooney and Welbeck from now, could be Rooney/Defoe. At the moment, there isn't really a front two. But then, I'm not sure how relevant it is to have a front two these days. Spain certainly don't play with two strikers, or at least they didn't in the Euros. The reliance seems to be on the midfield these days, and on the wider players. 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 might just be the future for England, as it would stop them getting over-run in midfield, in theory.

Dragooooo lost. First time we've lost in about 16 league games or something like that. I rested Benny because I wanted to give the others a run out, and at his age he's not really going to rise in skill. He came on and got man of the match...lol.

My eyes hurt from looking at that tackle over and over in the gif. At first, I was certain Shelvey should've got a red. Then, I thought both deserved it. Now, I can't tell if it should have been a red at all. Feel quite sorry for the ref in this instance. They have to make a call on that in real-time. Even after looking at it at least two dozen times, I don't know what the call should have been. You could argue that it's two committed players going for the ball, you could also argue that both could have caused serious injury to the other. Also, I felt that the Valencia penalty was one, Johnson didn't get any of the ball from what I saw and hauled him down. From what I saw with the Evans/Suarez incident, it looked like a great tackle from Evans at the time, just getting enough on the ball. I'll need replays to clarify that. None of those are clearcut for me. Can't really put my hand on my heart for any of them and say they were definitely red cards or penalties or if play should have continued.

I can't believe we won that. Didn't turn up at all and were so, so poor with the ball. Ferdinand and Evans were our best two players, Lindegaard and Rafael also had solid games. Apart from that, we were poor. Nani was our worst player by far, couldn't keep the ball, couldn't pass it, couldn't dribble, created nothing, didn't defend well. If it weren't for Ferdinand and Evans, we would have been ruined in that game. On the other hand, getting 3 points there is massive, especially after that performance.

Yeah, I agree with you there. I've found it so much easier to get my workouts done (and a lot quicker, too) since I bought my own bench and weights. The only exercise I feel I'm missing out on is leg work, but my goal will be to get some squat stands at some point in the future. But still, I'll still be missing out on leg presses and the like. Also, back work is a bit limited without access to a lateral pulldown or some sort of pullup bar. Plus, I need a bit more weight to really push myself with the deadlifts. Right now I'm doing them stiff legged as I don't need as much weight for that. But yeah, can't tell you how many times I've gone to a gym with my workout plan in mind, only to see that it's busy or all the benches are taken up or that somebody is hogging some of the weights that I need.

VOTE: N-Europe's Top 25 Wii Games! (THANKYOU!)
Fierce_LiNk replied to Retro_Link's topic in Nintendo Gaming
This thread has been open since the beginning of the month. There's been plenty of time to post in it. PES shouldn't be bundled in one separate entry because it's not fair. Each version is different, even if they're not all completely revolutionary when compared to their previous editions. I know that 2012 isn't very different at all to 2011, but 2011 has quite a few differences to 08. Also, as it has been pointed out, putting a game in your top 10 list when you haven't even played it is unfair. -
I went to see this last night. Although there's a ton of trailers beforehand (about half an hour's worth!), what is it with people turning up at 25 minutes during the film? I had the most annoying prick next to me. Arrived late, took up too much room as he was mega fat, left for a bathroom break during some of the best bits, rustled his bags of food, etc. I could have terminated him! Film was excellent. So much better than the first, which partly felt like an experiment, I guess. This one was just fantastic. The dialogue, the choreography for the fight scenes, the banter between the characters, so much better than the first. I'm not sure I get the hate for Chuck Norris or Chinese wifey, as she is now known as. Seemed great to me. Obviously the acting wasn't stellar, but you don't go into this kind of film expecting something in line with No Country for Old Men. It was over the top, it was at times just ridiculous, but it never crossed that line where the action lost its impact and it became "meh". I felt it pushed its limits but it stayed within them, to awesome effect. Terry Crews and Dolph Lundgren are my heroes.

I'm watching the Real Madrid/Man City match right now. Jesus, the atmosphere inside the stadium is fantastic. I would love to be there on a night like this.
-
Haha, yes! How poignant with the scoreline. A bit disappointed that my team didn't carry on in the second half like they did in the first. 6-0 at half-time. Madness. Would love it if I got a good result in the away game.
-
That's actually a very fair point. Still, why didn't that version have online?
-
I'm with Dazzy on this one. It seems like the game has been cut in half, with one half being released on the 3DS and the other on the WiiU. Why not even have some sort of system where you buy the game once and own it on two platforms? I understand the need to differentiate between the two systems, but this really isn't the way. It's amazing that this is coming, no doubt about it. But, there shouldn't be a need to compromise on this kinda thing.

I'm expecting a loss in my next game. I'm playing the Comerade, both home and then away. I don't think I've ever beat him. He killed me 6-0 once. If I can get one victory from him, I would love eeeet.

I played a few hours of this earlier. Am now stuck:

Graphically it still looks very good. The sound quality in that game was superb, too. It really felt like you were part of the films. That opening with the Death Star Attack...so good. Blew me away at the time. There needs to be a Mario game at launch, but I don't think we got the one that we needed. It will sell, so Nintendo will be happy. But, I'm not happy. I feel the same way as I did when the 3DS was launched on a whimper. There just isn't that eye-catching must-have game. I know eventually the games will come, but what are they exactly? Nintendo haven't done a good job of showing us what will be available within the next year, since they tend to reveal things for the short-term these days. I really would have loved it if they had gone out on a limb and tried to give us a massive title for launch, from them personally. I'm watching Ine play Twilight Princess right now and I remember playing that in the early hours after going to the midnight launch for the Wii's release. There's nothing even near that quality.

It's not really worth risking it, especially these days. If a police officer has the opportunity to pull you over for speeding, I genuinely think they will.
-
The optimist in me believes that Ubisoft will let you play the game as one character, without the need for an AI helper. Maybe two singleplayer modes? Otherwise, this could be Ubisoft's huge fuck-up, which we have all been waiting to happen. :p
-
I really don't think this is the case. Reason: The father of a work-mate was caught doing 32 in a 30. But then, you have to also take into account what speed he was actually doing, seeing as how the speedometer may have read 35 or something, due to the markup. So, who knows. On the letter, it just says he was doing 32 and was given his points. Must have been a slow day for the traffic cops.

I wouldn't know, you couldn't pay me to watch any more of this garbage.

What's wrong with it? It's different, but at least it dared to be so. I watched Transformers because there was nothing else on telly today. It really is an appalling film. The dialogue is terrible. Not even corny or cheesy, just terrible. Most, if not all, of the action set-pieces are so disorientating that they de-immerse you from what is taking place. Plus, it's too over-the-top, so you soon become de-sensitised to what is taking place, such as a battle with multiple robots from another world fighting in a small city and destroying every car or building in sight. First time I've managed to watch it all the way through without going "urgggh" and turning it off.

Yeah, I'm not happy with Danny after that. He had a good game, but he let himself down with that. Probably will be dropped in the next match. I'm pretty happy with the result today. I'm glad the penalty incident didn't impact on the result of the game, wouldn't have felt right. Nice to see Hernandez getting on the scoresheet. That Arsenal result was pretty insane. Battered Southampton. There's a few Southampton fans at my workplace and I mentioned to them beforehand that Arsenal were going to batter them. They were just too much for them.

Has my faith been restored? Well, not really, as I haven't really lost faith in them during this generation. Have I lost a little faith in this since E3? Undoubtedly, yes. I can't say I'm excited about the WiiU. The concept doesn't entice me at all, not even in the same league as the DS and Wii did. What really let me down was the poor showing at E3. There isn't a killer game that sells the system like there has been in the past. I remember getting my GameCube and being blown away by 2 games - Luigi's Mansion, and then Rogue Leader. Apart from Ubisoft's efforts (one of which may go tits-up), the launch lineup doesn't have a wow factor.

Game sucks. 13 chances to 5. 54% possession. At home. 3-3 draw. Even better, all three of Gaggle's goals came from free-fucking-kicks. Bit annoyed with that. Saying that, I didn't play my strongest team and even left 2 8-skilled midfielders on the bench, who normally are starters, trying to give some experience to others.
