Living the dream tonight. I put the United game on one tv and had the Everton game on the other tv playing through iPlayer. Multi-screen football. Martial played really well tonight and no pissing about with the finishing. Great finish for the last goal, really cheeky. Hope he gets tons of confidence from this and continues scoring.

Musicians Unite! (show your music love, post your gear, etc)

Glad to hear that you got it working! It's a nice bit of kid the Scarlett, so hopefully you will be able to get some mileage out of that + logic. I really like Studio One. It's straightforward, as you say. Everything just makes sense when you use it and you don't feel like you're fighting against the software to get the simple jobs done. I really rate it. I'd recommend PreSonus Studio One. There's the free version, which is pretty great and I will eventually be upgrading it when I have some more money. It's so simple to use and there's a good amount of depth to it. Very professional piece of software that has simplicity at its core, but there's tons more to it if you keep looking. I've barely scratched the surface with it and can tell that music production/making is such a time killer. I touched Ableton Live Lite as the free version came with the Scarlett. I really don't like it. Doesn't feel intuitive to use and just...has a very ugly sort of feel to it. -
This was new in 2017/18. You're just slooooooow.

I've heard nothing about this game online and even if there were people trying to post story details here and there, I wouldn't bother reading them. Why are gamers all of a sudden allowing other people's opinions on the story to impact on their own decision making? All it's doing is creating a culture where gamers have already decided that the game sucks or the story sucks before they have actually played it themselves. After that, it's leading towards a culture where one agrees with others purely to follow the crowd, rather than forming their opinions themselves. I'm looking forward to playing it and plan to read zero reviews and zero impressions beforehand. You can always go back afterwards and see what others think and then discuss it.

What the fuck? How are you only watching Dark now? I thought you had taste. One of the best shows of the last few years, imo.
-
Great to be watching United again! I didn't think we played too badly overall, except for the period of time after Spurs scored. Terrible goal to concede, a combination of Maguire not being strong enough and De Gea...continuing his disappointing downturn in form. After half time and before their goal, I thought that we were the better team and the team most likely to win it. A few chances that we maybe should have done a bit better with. Awesome to finally see Pogba and Fernandes playing together. That could be really juicy!

Luckily I've got school reports to write and the football is back on. Otherwise, I don't know how @Eenuh would be able to play this game without spoiling it for me! We're managing fine, so far. Doing my best not to look up.

Lovely to see that David Luiz is taking the social distancing seriously. He's distanced himself well and truly from his defensive responsibilities. Shocking player.

Congratulations. Well done!

Eurogamer mentioned this too. It is meant to be a blowpipe, but also comes across as looking like a joint, too. Just looking at it, I sorta see it. I'm back and forth on this one. I think the sensible course of action would be, that if there's any doubt, just play it safe. I don't believe the intention was to be outwardly racist (and I don't consider it racist, but maybe insensitive), but at the very least it's a bit of an outdated-stereotype that could be avoided.
-
It's an African stereotype. You've got the dreadlocks, the dark skin, the big red lips, the clothing, the item in the hand that looks like a joint, the sharp teeth to make them look like savages. I didn't spot this in the trailer because I only saw it the once and must've missed it, but I think that they are doing the right with altering the design. The more I look at it, the more I think that there is that people could take issue with. It's a sensible move, rather than leaving it the way that it is and risking the backlash. It will pay off better for them in the long run. I don't imagine that it will compromise their vision of the game too much.

They've apologised and the statement sounded very sincere. They've made a mistake and have recognised why it was insensitive, and are going to change it. Seems like a sensible resolution, to me.

Very nice, @mr_bogus. Chill as fuuuuuuck. I've bought the Focusrite Scarlett and used that for a large part of yesterday, along with PreSonus Studio One. Still using the free version of PreSonus but I will no doubt upgrade at some point in the future. The Scarlett is great. Really simple to use and it works like a dream with Studio One. Looking forward to really playing about with this over the summer, and I can already tell that this is going to suck up a loooooot of time. I haven't hooked up my drum kit to this yet to see how that sounds or works, but I would imagine that it works well. (I've got a Roland V-Drumkit, so it's just a case of plugging the guitar cable into the output and hooking that to the Scarlett) -
I've heard of people doing the "flipside" when learning languages on Duolingo. E.g. after learning Dutch into English, they've done the English into Dutch course, which is interesting. I've started that. I've also started the Italian into Spanish course which is...actual mindfuckery. My head hurts! There's a definite lag where my brain has to do lots of translating and processing, even for the basic sentences. Very challenging.

Watched the Borussia Dortmund game against Fortuna Düsseldorf this afternoon. Not really much in the game, but did think that Dortmund were quite poor. Couldn't really get going, passing wasn't as nice as it usually is and they couldn't really create chances. Typical that they managed to get a 94th minute winner though. Feel quite sorry for Fortuna, they were more than good for that point. Would be gutted if I were in their position.

Really excited for the third (and final) season. Loved the first two and it's been one of my favourite shows of the last decade. Definitely not watching that trailer, though!

Sorry, I mostly mean the reactions. (if we could update the smilies too so that we had more/or an updated look, that would be awesome) I don't know how flexible we can be/what our options are with choosing the reactions. I think the categories of "thank, like, angry, sad" etc are good, but just not sure the icons really fit or work. The "weird" one especially just doesn't seem to work, imo...really dislike that one. I'm not a designer and have no real idea of what to suggest, but maybe something more in line with how the facebook reactions look, or at least edging towards that. These current ones look like something you would see on a forum with a much younger userbase.

Horizon: Forbidden West (18th February 2022)
Fierce_LiNk replied to Julius's topic in Other Consoles
Yeah, this is a definite buy. I really enjoyed Horizon, although I still need to play The Frozen Wilds DLC. It was one of those games where I felt that the story got much better as it went on, as it took a few hours for me to get to grips with it. Beautiful game. I'm confident that they can tell as great a story as they did in the first game, which had a lovely ending. It's just a case of how much they add in that fits around that. E.g. the amount of sidequests. I hope they don't put too much in so that it becomes too repetitive. -
RETURNAL. Sounded like they were a bit stuck with ideas for the name and just decided to go with that. Game looks good, though. A bit Prometheus-y...but the cool Prometheus where it looked like it would be good from the trailers. Not the shitty-ish Prometheus that we actually got.

Shit just got real. Had a fiddle with this the night before last. It's goooooood. Time to start making some music! Just need to find the time now. Edit: Should probably mention what this is. It's an audio interface, meaning that you plug your guitar lead jack into the socket and can then record your playing.

This and Dark Season 3 (and Tenet, when that decides to come out) are the only redeeming things about 2020.
-
Any chance we can update the smilies/emoticons/reactions? Never been a fan of the current ones and maybe it's time for a fresh batch.
-
Just think about that for a second. Are you really?

The information from yesterday's event has started to make me more excited for the next generation. It's a Playstation, so there is obviously going to be great support for it during its lifespan, but it looks like it'll have a tasty first year, too. Tempted to get one close-ish to launch now...maybe instead of us buying Christmas presents for each other and instead using that money to get this. We went with 2 PS4s this generation so that we could both get our gaming fix and also Overwatch at the same time. If we do that again, maybe it'll be the standard PS5 and then the inevitable slim/redesign as a second console. I like this design and have no issues with it. Once it's under my tv in its unit, I'm hardly ever going to look at it.

Really excited for this. Missed out on this back in the day, and I'm sure that this will be a good port/remaster/reimagining. Looking forward to the first few hours being rage inducing.
