Dream Job VS What You Actually Do?
Raining_again replied to ReZourceman's topic in General Chit Chat
1) What's your dream job? Owning a cat rescue sanctuary. 2) What are you actually doing? Admin in the NHS 3) Did you ever envision yourself in what you're doing now? I never saw past leaving school. Wanted to be an accountant when I was in school because I was good at maths and accountancy has a lot of numbers, right? I went onto work with computers in technical college after school. Then got the job I'm in, at 19. Have been there ever since (now 30) I make 20k. It supports me being able to live by myself. Its an ok job. -
Are you a pessimist or an optimist?
Raining_again replied to Fierce_LiNk's topic in General Chit Chat
I'm... well i dunno, I have an analytical mind that ALWAYS tries to figure out what is the WORST possible case scenario in any situation in life. And I think about these things deeply. I can always find flaws & bugs in systems, if it can be broken I can do it. Yet I'm EXTREMELY optimistic in life, always look on the bright side while being prepared and aware of the possible downfalls. -
I remember times when I didn't log on for a weekend and I had PAGES to catch up on. Now I'm rarely here (due to lack of working computer & money to fix same) and it never really goes past the first half. Its possible that the mega threads are doing something to cause that but there used to be so so many more people on here with no social lives to speak of I mean most of us are in relationships / having children / buying houses, and ADULTING. Which doesn't leave much time to be a shut in! I used to spend my day working then coming home and spending the WHOLE evening on msn messenger & here. And look what happened to msn messenger The internet has changed. Even in 2005 forums were a dying breed. Now its all on facebook pages and groups. tl;dr i miss the old days

My solicitor must have rued the day he took me on. I was on the phone pretty much daily. Mine took 6 months to go through!! Would never go through those cheap rate agents, had dealings with one, took them a week to get back to me about a simple viewing!

Ahh he is happy, he just has markings that make him look like permanent sadface lol. You can tell a cat is relaxed when their pupils are tiny like his are. Lots of challenges getting these two to get on. They managed to share the bed about 10 minutes ago.. there was some initial growling, but they both settled. Then sparky left of his own accord, with no looking back or bolting.

Say hello to Freddie. I made a contribution of £80 in little Hanks name too.

I posted in the pet thread... the kitty I was inches from adopting had to be put down today. A very severe infection that even healthy cats rarely come back from (I have an FIV cat family, its like human HIV so they cant fight infections etc) and the vet rang earlier today to break the news. I have been in bits since, had to be sent home from work. Have had too much to drink and its not helping me feel any better.....

Yeah i'm going down to the sanctuary tomorrow. I feel like its only right, I am prepared to have another cat. So many out there needing homes, especially FIVs. Part of me felt like he was already mine, i had opened my heart to him and fallen in love. Incredibly painful The vet was almost crying himself as I think he could tell how much it affected me, I was pretty much bawling down the phone lol. But he was gentle and I totally know its the best for him, he can't suffer such a cruel infection. He did say you know I dont want to push this on you immediately but there are some healthy cats still in the sanctuary & maybe I should think about considering them. Wee sparks sat on my knee and looked up at me as if to say hey mom im here for you. He doesnt normally sit on my knee, it was a strange experience lol. I feel like maybe he was letting me know that its ok to rescue another wee kitty

Had a phone call from vet at the sanctuary where Hank is. Sadly he has had to be put down as the infection is fatal. Devastated is not even apt. Work had to send me home. Have decided that I need to adopt one of his shelter buddies though. Bring something positive to this awful heartbreaking situation :'(

spin hurts my lady parts, a LOT. Also @Animal

If its the same as mine (the government grant thing - and i had some money from bank) the money came out a good month after the first mortgage payment, by which time all of that was sorted. Believe me you will need it, be it to recover the finances or pay for all the shit you realise needs done to the place lol

You don't get the bonus until after the exchange. Most people use it towards solicitors fees. The money you have saved is your deposit

that as well. bloody hell i had gathered so much crap in just under 2 years..... !!! Took forever to sort everything out and i moved in that massive heatwave in june. Death....!

I've pulled a muscle in my back. In so much pain... Bearing in mind I slipped my lower 4 discs, and have significant arthritis in one of my discs in my neck.... yet the pain in this is 10x worse. I think its just because its where it is, right in the middle of my back and every fecking movement seems to need those muscles....ugh Also I got a "slimmers belt" from argos, my mum had one years ago and its a great back support, just a very big wide elasticated belt. Like a less extreme version of a deadlift/squat belt. Would be good for training when im better... Still working on the weight loss. Its very slow at the moment. Still sticking to wheat free eating. Doing alright.

good move that was! Houses in northern ireland never peaked to quite the level a lot of the english cities did. I mean even in ballymena itself most houses are under 250k. Belfast (depending on the area) could be even cheaper. But then we dont have anywhere near the same job prospects. For me to be earning 20k is exceptional money for a 5 mile commute.

Sanctuary rang today and asked me to hold off for a couple of days as wee Hank is still snuffly, bless his wee cotton socks. They don't want to risk Sparky getting it with the FIV.
