  1. Reviews out today/tomorrow (Wednesday), really interested to see how this has turned out. Vague reports seem to be extremely positive, though I can't help but suspect that might be compared to Pokemon's usual dated standards.
  2. Yeah been meaning to try it out, thanks. Guacamelee is amazing, so hopefully this should be good. Gave up on Death's Door at the prior to last boss. Nah.
  3. That’s absolutely fair enough. The actual stuff back in the day was much much better. I could just never afford any of it cause the points totals were so high! I see the equivalent these days as being the 'freebies' you get with games if you buy from the Nintendo Store. Still not as good but there’s been a few nice things packed in over the years with some games.
  4. Do you mean buying 20 games (so about £800-900) gets you one of those things? Cause that's how it was. And it's hard to care about a whopping 2 quid of shipping when you're getting stuff for basically free.
  5. Started this yesterday, nearing the third big boss and I'm just not feeling it. Not sure why that is because these games are what I tend to enjoy most but it's not leaving a strong impression at all. The combat is frustrating, the items you find meaningless, there's no map (wtf), and the gameplay is pretty repetitive after a while. Nice music though, but otherwise, all a bit meh
  6. I barely play any mobile games and I had 700 points just now. They give you 30 just to sign in every day! Do that for a couple of weeks and you can get the posters. Far, far better than the old Club Nintendo days imo. It blew my mind how many games you had to buy just to afford anything. 20 games was being polite. Nowadays if something isn't a My Nintendo reward for barely any Plat points, they throw something in with a game if you order from them. The Cat Mario plushie I got for a fiver extra from 3D World would have taken 30 odd games back in the day.
  7. I remember back in the day of Club Nintendo you would have had to have bought about 20 games to be able to afford those posters!
  8. Looks fantastic. Can see why they took their time with it
  9. Chapter 4 was great. Loads of great bits in both past and present.
  10. Xbox are on fire this past year or so, incredible turnaround.
  11. Not too fussed either way, it's nice to know how much is vaguely left but not necessary. Usually when I'm wanting to know how much is left it's because I'm really enjoying the game and don't want it to finish. Conversely though, I wish World of Light would have had one, I would have stopped 9 and a half hours before the end.
  12. Cause they already have a cash cow Mario Kart game on a platform that's practically designed for micro-transactions? Let Tour make them that kind of money. They're not going to mess with their flagship series on console by putting in MTX. Mario Odyssey, Splatoon, and a million other games have cosmetics as in-game unlocks.
  13. Funnily enough, costumes exist in video games without Gacha mechanics.
  14. Finished and mostly 100%'d Kena: Bridge of Spirits after about 35-40 hours or so of play. I thought it was fantastic. The perfect type of game when you're feeling a bit fatigued by the AAA industry. Incredible production values, the game is stunning, brilliant soundtrack, very very fun gameplay and the combat is top notch too. Quite challenging too. Exploration was a real joy, so much fun to poke around and discover secrets. Negatives, the collectibles aren't particularly great or useful and the story made zero sense to me throughout. I had no idea what was going on. Also some weird audio bugs. Oh and the various environments are pretty samey, there's not a ton of diversity but when the game looks that great, it's hard to care too much. But yeah, fantastic, highly recommended. A huge achievement for such a small team.
  15. Costumes in MK9 would be good fun, for some reason I hadn't considered that in the main series. If there is to be adventure mode, maybe they can be the collectibles or something.
  16. Some really great bits in Chapter 3 and one glaringly awful bit! Excited for next week!
  17. To be fair, it was only the 35th anniversary, a bit of an arbitrary number. I think it starts to lose all meaning if you celebrate these things too often, and they did quite a bit for Zelda's 30th from what I remember.
  18. Looks great! Visuals definitely look a bit improved from the first showing too.
  19. I wouldn't call gliders in 7 or anti-gravity racing (that doesn't actually add that much gameplay wise) "a twist". The report seems to suggest 9 will have an actual new twist, like Double Dash did. I apologise if you or @Dcubed didn't think the original story was worthy of being posted on this message board, but can we cut out the constant gate-keeping of opinions please? "Confirmation" that the game is in active development at the moment and might be revealed this year was pretty interesting to me and I figured it was worth the 20 second effort of posting it.
  20. Mario Kart 9 apparently in the works Take with a grain of salt etc, but the analyst in question is quite respected on things like this.
  21. Blown away by Chapter 2. Absolutely fantastic. Much as I loved last week, it definitely felt more like a prologue of sorts, things definitely went up a notch here, at least in the flashback part of the episode. I was a bit sceptical about this show but it's proving me totally wrong, couldn't take my eyes off this episode and kept hoping there was plenty of run-time left.
  22. They can't possibly be that stupid to not let you play PSVR1 games on this.
  23. Yeah similar to Smash Ultimate, both that and MK8 Deluxe are as close to perfect games as you could hope for really. Tough to know where they go from here, apart from just expanding the roster and making it Nintendo Kart, which I doubt they'll do because the 'Mario Kart' name is iconic. I'd be surprised if MK9 is out on the current Switch though, you'd imagine there's only another 2-3 years of it, so seems a waste to put it out so late.
  24. The only surprise is no Metroid, disappointing Maybe it released too late in the year
