  1. What's happened to tennis Games? Wimbledon has started and there are no tennis Games out on any console.
  2. I'm certainly in the "too many platformers" camp and it's probably a bit unfair. Certainly Splatoon, MK, Smash all offer very different and brilliant experiences, but for me and I'm sure a lot of others this came about during the period that EA declared they were not making any more Wii U games, others were scaling back and Nintendo's upcoming roster contained Mario 3D, Donkey Kong, Captain Toad and Yoshi and it certainly felt like if you didn't want a platformer there was very little else on the horizon.
  3. i had the same thing happen on a game, from memory I went into the downloads section and deleted the download that was causing it to crash and that fixed the problem. It wasn't Batman but sounds like exactly the problem so assume this will work for you. Good luck.
  4. I said this a while back , but I think they should make NX their greatest hits console. Fully backwards compatible, fill up VC with their back catalogue and launch it preloaded with a couple of their biggest games from each console. NES - SMB3 + Mega Man SNES - SF2 + Zelda N64 - Mario 64 + Diddy Kong Racing Gamecube - F-Zero + Wave Race Wii - Mario Galaxy 2 + Smash Bros WiiU - ZombiU + Nintendo Land If they could build an OS that could emulate all the old games without the need for updating each game and fill up the VC like the istore they would sell hundreds of millions of units of software. I'd buy at least 20 games from each console.
  5. couple of views that are somewhat conflicting but I hope y'all get the point. I don't think power is what is going to make NX succeed, Nintendo's biggest successes have been their most inferior products when compared to rival hardware. I think they need to gamble. Wii was a cheap console to build and thus sell and I'm sure a big part of it's success was the price tag, but if Wii was as powerful as PS3 and 360 it would have destroyed them. If Wii had the motion control craze and non-gimped versions of the big 3rd party games then there would have been very little reason to buy a PS3 or 360 and Wii would have probably done PS2 numbers. If they believe in this new concept they should put their balls on the line and I think this could well be their last chance saloon for the console market.
  6. just caught up with the last few pages of this thread, very good reading. A few more things that have come to mind: I don't think anybody has a problem with different opinions, I quite often complain about aspects of Nintendo gaming and nobody has confronted me, but there are a couple of people who derail EVERY SINGLE DISCUSSION with anti Nintendo, pro Playstation nonsense, some of which is so stupid that I and others feel the need to "address the situation". From memory one such conversation was how the PS4 is cheaper than the Wii U! Another thing I have noticed that it only appears to be PS4 that this happens with, probably because the key culprits own PS4's and not XB1's. I remember moaning about Nintendo because I would need to buy another console so I could play FIFA & PGA and how Nintendo's failures were going to cost me £500. I got jumped on for talking crap about PS4 as it wouldn't cost this much and I hadn't even mentioned what console I was going to buy. I certainly consider myself impartial and with the possible exception of @Ronnie & @Serebii I think most people are, I certainly don't harbour any ill felling towards either of them for being passionate Nintendo fans in a Nintendo forum and talk of banning them is ludicrous.
  7. surely if it's backwards compatible the Wii U pro controller will be usable?
  8. A good launch can quickly turn around any negativity. I didn't buy a Wii at launch, as I had got a bit bored with gaming and just had kids, the minute I played Wii Sports I bought one asap (would have been the next day, but there was no stock for weeks) If they do it right people will soon forget about the bad Wii U days. But as I have said before, they need 3rd parties on board. No CODless/FIFAless console will succeed.
  9. room 2 is open for business @Phube can you do the pics
  10. In fairness, I was discussing a couple of issues around that time and I'm not sure which was which. I was certainly bemoaning the fact that Nintendo is predominantly platformers and the PS4 was predominantly FPS, both of which I have enough of on the respective consoles and the list above only confirms that by and large. It may or may not have been you, but my recollection was that I got lambasted for daring to suggest PS4 was a COD machine (which was obviously a sweeping statement) but nobody batted an eyelid that I pidgeon holed Wii U as a platformer console. Anyway, I think this thread is actually working wonders as a therapy session.
  11. I have seen @Serebii get spoken to far worse than anything he has ever said to anybody, again the blindness. @Serebii and @Sheikah are polar opposites on the Wii U thread and yet I have only seen comments about @Serebii conduct. It appears to me that saying anything positive about Nintendo is the problem here and not how we say it, or who we upset whilst saying it. A classic example... after E3 I posted that I was only interested in 2 games Battlefront for PS4 and 90's Arcade Racer which nobody knows if it will even be released. So I am only buying a game for PS4. I then got attacked for suggesting that there could only be one PS4 game I was interested in, nobody made a single comment about the fact that there were no Wii U games I was interested in. Why is that?
  12. Interesting Thread. First of all let me say that I own a Wii U and a PS4. They both do some things brilliantly and some things badly. If I went in to the Wii U forum and complained I'd get half a dozen thanks, if I did the same in the PS4 forum, I'd get told to change my hobby as I clearly know fuck all about gaming. That right there is the biggest problem on here and I just don't understand it. It's like everybody has been hypnotized by the "for the gamers" tagline and have become PS4 Terminators. I find it very interesting and and quite poignant that the two people named at the start as trouble makers are @Ronnie and @Serebii the two people who stick up for Nintendo? That's a major problem and indicitive of how this place is run. The ignore function needs to be fixed so that it works both ways. What's the point of having somebody on ignore that you clearly don't want to engage with and yet they still see all your posts and respond to them? And on that subject why don't all you @Serebii haters just put him on your ignore list? It appears to me that the people who perform the mod/admin functions on here are all in PS4/we hate @Serebii camp, again a fucked up situation. Lastly, @dazzybee thanks for saying so eloquently what I was trying to portray above.
  13. I don't want Mario Strikers, I want a proper football game, I don't want Mario Tennis I want a proper tennis game. The Wii was brilliant, the only thing it lacked was better graphics and HD and for some reason they have not delivered this on Wii U. I'll be generous and give them FIFA 13 as a game that accomplised this albeit once, COD did it for a while and of course Mario Kart and Smash, but that's pretty much it. Mario 3D is a step down from Galaxy, Wii Sports Club still seemed like a tec demo. Where are the Virtua Tennis and PGA on Wii U? Where is Zelda? Where is Metroid? Why haven't they brought back F-Zero, 1080, Wave Race? Surely somebody at Nintendo by now has realised that Sony seem to be doing good numbers remastering old games. Just what is everybody doing at Nintendo these days?
  14. Absolutety! What makes it worse is they invented motion controls and never made the games to support it. This gen I was expecting to be playing HD motion sports games and we got Wii Sports Club! An 8 year old tec demo with a shit online mode bolted on the side.
  15. very true and the Wii U was in a position to do this, so it doesn't matter what NX is, without 3rd party support it's doomed.
  16. it's not just the droughts, but the fact that for about a year all they released were bloody platformers. And they've done nothing to replace all the missing 3rd party games. To let both FIFA and PES go is insanity, i don't think you can underestimate how damaging it is to not have a football game on the console.
  17. they've done this since day one, the NES had the zapper and the robo add on, SNES had the bazooka & multitap, N64 had a bizarre controller, the expansion port, the DD and let's not forget Virtual Boy. They've always tinkered for better or for worse . I would say in fairness to Wii U it has gamepad, motion controls and the pro controller so they have tried to cater for everybody this time around, only problem is nobody is making any games for it.
  18. On the contrary I like COD very much and have all 3 current gen versions. My issue was/is that I don't need 4 versions of COD, FIFA, Batman or any game for that matter within 2 years all costing £40+ and extras to "essentially" play the same game over and again. I think it's a problem the industry needs to look at. I have a 9 year old son who is constantly wanting FUT packs on FIFA and yet I know in a couple of months all that money is redundant as he'll want FIFA 16. The fact that there is even an option to spend £79.99 on FIFA points is bordering on criminal.
  19. This game was made for me. I rarely plain the single player in COD, so an online multiplayer FPS with Star Wars is all I'm going to be playing once it's out. When is it out? Like @RedShell I bought a GC day for for Rogue Leader, which at the time looked stunning and yet looks dreadful now.
  20. classy! how can you administer a forum when you behave like that?
  21. E3 for me was a let down on all fronts. The only 2 games I will probably buy for the foreseeable future are Battlefront and 90's Arcade Racer and one of them is far from certain that it'll actually see the light of day. This Gen is not even 2 years old and we're already approaching our 4th installments of FIFA, COD, AC etc. It's just year after year of the same tired old shit getting churned out. None of these games play any differently from one installment to the next. This is why Nintendo could/should never go third party, with each console they try and create a new way to play games, if they were forced to use a dualshock forever more they would lose the ability to continually make things fresh. Sometimes their ideas are brilliant and get copied, othertimes they don't work and they get criticized, but the industry needs it and I think they should be applauded for being the only ones to keep pushing the envelope.
  22. wasn't having a pop buddy, it's just funny in the waiting room when you Mii keeps dropping in and out. Fair play to you for being so patient/persistent
  23. you put your viceview in, you take your viceview out, in-out, in-out you shake it all about... it's the weekly MK hokey kokey
  24. it's easy to say that now, but at launch there wasn't a problem, Wii U had the big games in HD, it was only a few months in when sales were bad that the 3rd parties started to drop the Wii U. If EA were still on board I wouldn't have bought a PS4.
  25. i don't think going third party is the answer (and realistically probably not even feasible) primarily they just need to ensure their next console is easy to programme for/compatible with PS/XB operating systems so they get ports of all the 3rd party software and secondary they improve their online and voice. I've got over 25 Wii U games and 3 PS4 games so they can't be doing everything wrong. I think the last couple of gens has been a case of having a nintendo console and one of either PS or XB to get all the games you would want. I don't see why that needs to change in the future. An alternative argument would be why don't EA make a console? If you could only play EA games on a dedicated console who would still buy PS or XB?
