Blu Ray. HD-DVD doesn't have enough backing. There's a lot of talk recently of Universal (HD-DVD's only loyal supporter) releasing for Blu Ray as well.

I side with Jordan on this one, avoid Sony like the plague for laptops. Underspecced, Overpriced and full of shit software that slows down your already slow laptop. I'd have a look at HP and Toshiba. They've got some good budget models.
