  4. Without you I guess there wouldn't have been a thread about it at all so thanks for starting it. Recently I've been spending a bit too much time on the net and hardly watching any TV so I decided to watch some TV without any distractions. Half of the charm of Eurovision for me is the commentary from Graham Norton and without him it would be fairly boring (I normally skip the qualifiers so I missed Montenegro's song). Some nice songs last night but I didn't really have any favourites although I liked Belgium's song. I can see why Portugal won because it was about the actual song without any gimmicks. It was also nice when the singer was joined by his sister at the end who wrote the song. Good to see the UK entry doing well also. At the time I really didn't get the dancing gorilla for Italy. I do now but I had to read up about it. Also not sure about the mooning guy at the end with the Australian flag (who's not Australian) but Eurovision carried on as if nothing happened which I thought was good. Talking of Australia they did well last night and I'm hoping one day they win and we have the whole thing in Sydney which will make perfect sense. I'm not sure what the horses head was about for the Azerbaijan entry? I think that would have given me knightmares if I was a kid. If they had replaced one of the three presenters with someone like Gaitana (Ukrainian Eurovision singer from 2012) or added her as a fourth presenter that might have been a start. Actually I wonder why they didn't ask her to appear? So that's it for another year unless anyone is going to watch the Eurovision Choir of the year in July?
  5. Congratulations to Portugal! Worthy winners indeed.
  6. Yeah, I worded it poorly. I know about the other games, sorry.
  7. Recently bought the first four Hitman games on PC and PS2, Puzzle League DS and Panzer Dragoon Orta on the Xbox.
  8. I got my original figure from The Independent in a article from June 2016 (based on Sky Data - 'I might have guessed' and this figure was widely reported) but I can see it's been updated now so thanks, I stand corrected.
  9. I'll ignore the slightly ageist comments at the beginning to say that anyone aged 18 or over who is registered can vote and that polling stations are open from 7am to 10pm. If people can't vote then they should consider postal voting. It doesn't matter who you vote for but please vote. It's your one chance to change things and make your voice heard regardless of your age, race, gender.... The sad fact is for some people politics is meaningless and feel apathetic or even frustrated about it but our lives are shaped by politics even if we don't realise it and we all should give a damn about it. I should say it's the politicians fault in this as well, they need to relate to us and converse with us whoever we are. Last year, I heard people being ageist against the elderly about how they may or may not have voted for in the EU ref (not all over 65's did vote leave btw) so what happened to the youth vote well 64% didn't even bother to vote. I'll leave this here in the hope someone who hasn't yet registered will decide to make their voice heard next month. I have no problem with whatever party someone votes for just make it heard. and http://www.whoshouldyouvotefor.com
  10. It's not just the rise of the far right I worry about, it's the lack of any real centre in politics now and the ebbing support for the political left across the west. The rise of polarised sides plus the lack of any meaningful and respectful discourse between people is also a worry too.
  11. When I was younger, I could have had the opportunity to travel and teach in Japan as I also have a CELTA but never did so I wish you all the best. I think you need to work out if you are going to Japan to be the main English teacher or to become an assistant language teacher(ALT)? What age group you want to teach and where in Japan do you want to teach....? There's so much information about teaching English in Japan from just a google search so I can't give you any advice that you already have seen before however this is a quick read - https://transferwise.com/gb/blog/teaching-english-in-japan and As you have already mentioned there are other forum members who have lived or live still in Japan and I think they can give you more advice than I can.
  12. I can already see the photo in the newspapers 'Macron meets Trudeau' and they will look like long lost cousins. Since Macron said he was neither left or right despite being in the Parti socialiste from 2006-2009, the nearest I can think of a UK version of him is of a younger Tony Blair when he became PM. Macron will win (in part) because the EU project needs him and there is simply too much at stake if he loses. The EU considers Macron a safe pair of hands who will come down on the UK during the Brexit negotiations. This is contrast with Le Pen. Here in the UK, the British PM has accused the EU of trying to affect the general election but considering the timing and 'if' this is true I think this could be seen as a warning to French voters, look at what happens to you if you leave the EU. Look at the final settlement you will have to pay. I'm sure some French voters are looking at what happens in the UK to decide whether to vote for Le Pen or not. I think Marcon will win and people will be deluded into thinking that the Brexit and Trump votes were just a blip and that it can be business as normal. It won't.
  13. Does this help at all? - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-politics-39513873 Look up the area in North Wales where you live and then I guess google search the candidates name and they should have some information about them online.
  14. I've been past Millennium Mills in east London many times but would love to see the inside of the building one day.
  15. It is the failure from some elements on the political left to enter rational discourse with others or to simply ignore situations which for me has opened up the mess that we are currently in. I don't think the Front National will win nor did I think the PVV would win last month in the Netherlands however the PVV are now the opposition party and I think the Front National will be the party of opposition in France. It's a horrible situation. Germany elections in September and I'm not too sure what will happen then.
  16. Having been a long term Lib Dem voter I voted for Labour in 2015 and will probably (not 100% sure) vote for Labour again. Right now I really can't see me voting for the Lib Dems again. There are local elections next month where I live now and there isn't any Labour candidate so I will be voting for an independent candidate. We also have mayoral elections which I believe the public has no real idea about, I blame the government for a very bad PR in this. Going back to the general election politics ultimately has turned into a popularity contest, so I'm keeping away from TV sound bites as much as I can. I will sit down and go through the manifestos of all the parties that I can vote for and see which one I agree with the most.
  17. I've already spoke to my gf about how she will vote in June and it will be completely different to me but it doesn't bother me. We all should all try to respect each others opinions even if we might not agree with them. If we take the tribal politics out of people most of us would probably be a lot better off sometimes. The politicians of all parties do their best to wind us all up. People should be free to vote for whoever they want to vote for after all it's their vote. What gets me the most is that some people will already be tired of voting come June anyway, I don't expect high turnout. I've already read people saying a vote for the Tories/Labour/UKIP/Lib Dems... is a wasted vote, no not voting at all is a wasted vote.
  18. Anyway....., I could have answered the original point but my post was already far too long and it was meant as a rhetorical point from Rummy's original question regarding bias against Corbyn so please understand that. I think if you can get your message out to the voters and you have their support then it won't matter what message the media is saying. The BBC yesterday said to the Labour leader something like 'Are you trying to become PM and if you lose will you resign?' Corbyn needs to be able to answer those questions successfully and not be led into a trap. Regardless, I'm not a Trump supporter (I am using him as an example) but for me he was able to use social media like twitter and bypass traditional media which was largely against him. He was able to reach out to the voters who had been ignored by others. Could Corbyn do the same? There are some parallels between the states and the UK and yes your points about the anti-establishment vote does resonate. Corbyn is by some definitions an anti establishment candidate especially when you compare him to more recent Labour leaders. In fact, the Independent newspaper in December last year stated that 'The Labour Party is “ramping up” preparations to relaunch Jeremy Corbyn as a leftwing populist figure in the new year as the party seeks to ride the anti-politics mood following Brexit'. It then further adds 'Senior party officials reportedly believe the Islington North MP's unpolished authenticity could gather support from the same anti-establishment sentiment that has heralded the popularity of the likes of Donald Trump and Nigel Farage, and believe this could bolster his chances in a potential early election'. (source - http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/labour-jeremy-corbyn-jon-trickett-left-wing-populist-anti-establishment-general-election-a7478516.html) I want to make it clear that Corbyn is not Trump (just in case my post is TL;DR) they just have a few elements which hold them as anti establishment in some people's eyes. Again The Independent article backs this statement up. However, if people feel that that political parties no longer represent them, they will look elsewhere. It's bluntly put but does sum things up a little-
  19. With a strong government in charge there needs to be a strong opposition to keep them in shape, accountable and on their toes, I just don't see that right now sadly even before this decision was announced. In December 2016, Labour said that they would be ready for a snap election if the Tories wanted one well they have their wish. I'm sure in the next few months to come the polls with show a rise in support for Labour but I really think it won't be enough. Labour of course will blame the media but it's the message.....the message that Labour needs to get across to the voters beyond the Labour party membership. Where is that message in Scotland I wonder? I'm not a massive fan of extreme social justice or identity politics and that for me has inflected the political left by the views of a small yet very vocal minority which is damaging Labour and others. If Labour ignores the bread and butter issues which affect all of us regardless of who we are then it's a lost cause. The Lib Dems seem to have their second wind right now by pushing for a more pro EU stance on Brexit but it feels like for some they are ignoring what happened last year with the vote and what happened back in 2015. No matter how much the Lib Dems talk they will just recover from the mess that was the 2015 general election which almost wiped them out. The Lib Dems seem clueless that over 30% of their original voters voted Leave last year so by all means push for a more pro EU stance on Brexit like for example free trade but if they talk about wanting to rejoin the EU as it currently is, IMO that would be a mistake. I don't really see UKIP making too much progress during this election unless they can show up this current government with their plans to leave the EU. Oh and congratulations to the PM by giving the people of Northern Ireland an election in during ongoing talks regarding Stormont power sharing off the bat from last months assembly elections. I was for a very long time a Lib Dem voter but voted for Labour in 2015 and right now I'm have no clear idea who to vote for in June although it will probably be for Labour. The whole thing is in a mess. Please can you explain why Trump won last year when nearly all of the media was against him? One TV show in the states last year said Trump had a 5% chance of winning the US presidency. Here's the thing Labour's views like railway nationalisation seem to be popular with the voters amongst other Labour views but the voting public needs to get behind the party that is talking about it. Labour needs to stop the political in fighting and show party unity, stop Tony Blair from making any TV appearances for the next two months or at least stop being a back seat driver and most importantly get their message beyond the Labour party membership. No one really cares about groups like Progress, Momentum or the fact that Labour has the biggest political membership of any party in western Europe, it's all meaningless if you can't get your message out to the electorate, to the voters.
  20. There's some interesting videos on YouTube talking about this game and it's not all positive. The lack of computer A.I for single player games and lack of real replay value are some of the issues with this game. Having said that I can see the appeal for this game it's just I can see what this game could have been if more time had been spent on it. Anyway, I will probably get this game when the price drops below £20 or less which is fairly close to the recommended price of this game from Angry Joe on YT.
  21. A new one to add - Dr Kawashima's Devilish Brain Training: Can you stay focused? arrives on Nintendo 3DS on 28/07. Just heard about this via Nintendo's twitter account. I never thought Nintendo would actually release this in Europe but I'm glad that they are finally doing so some five years after it's release in Japan and four years in North America. Hope its not just a download only title here however.
  22. I agree with what you're saying but I just feel that a port over of the first revelations isn't enough from Capcom. This is Capcom we are talking about the company where they try and port things over to as many different formats as possible. They need to give us the second game as well and the bonus would be RE7. I have no idea if they would do any of that but still as the post says 'Games you want to see on the Switch'.
  23. So a game that has already come out for the 3DS, Wii U, PS3, Xbox 360 and soon Xbox One, PS4 should come out for the Switch? I'm not so sure unless Capcom can give Switch owners Resident Evil Revelations 2 as well. That game never made it on any Nintendo platform to date. Personally I like to see Resident Evil 7 on the Switch but never mind. For me, a new Animal Crossing game, Metroid game, F-Zero game and a new Project Zero(Fatal Frame) game would be cool.
  24. Endless Ocean 2 for the Wii and a few other games.
