  1. I have. Read that it was meant to be the best thing ever and it wasn't.
  2. Raquna: cool. Mage kid: kinda annoying. Amnesia girl: clichéd. Ruins expert: Raine from Tales of Symphonia. Grazza, I hope you're missing something cos that sucks. Judging the story mode from the demo, it seems really well done but if it doesn't take you all the way to the very end of the game... annoying. Maybe you are supposed to switch to classic mode and begin work on your own party sooner? Hmm. I thought the level cap being lifted to 99 would help with alleviating the late game difficulty, but of course they would scale all the enemies up accordingly too.
  3. No way is this remotely playable? Touchscreen is for swiping and tapping on, not for controlling a virtual joystick. *shudders*
  4. Beady eyes. Updating 3DS now in order to try this demo...! :awesome:
  5. I happened upon news of this games existence during the summer - maybe via the Gameinformer Test Chamber. It didn't come to the Wii U did it? Crazy decision if thats still the case. Mickey + Toki Tori + Ducktales would be such a great combo. @Magnus, was Devil Survivor engaging for those 100h? I've never played any of them. (yet?)
  6. Millennium Girl is scoring great across the board. I was reading about it quickly this morning - USGamer is the site to visit for news on it with Jeremy Parish being there now. Any chance of the thread title getting fixed.
  7. Mimics are game breaking if you have one summoner and three mimics. What about I-VI. FF I has the Chaos Shrine, FF II has Pandemonium, FF III is a tower whose name I can't think of off the top of my head but its got the same interior design (I imagine from FF III DS), FF IV has you delving into the moon... they all present the same visual theme don't they. Well, unless I'm misremembering the moon and it is actually cavernous and cheesy. Its always a crazy crystally sort of place except for Kefkas Tower in VI, right? FF V has several different sections to its final dungeon but the last floors where it culminates have the usual sparkly sheen. With FF IX being a throwback I imagine its the same. Is there a norse myth they keep drawing on for this? There's gotta be something.
  8. Stick it on and do a few maps. I've only played Tactics Advance but found it (dare I say it) a bit boring in the longterm. I think I messed around making too many new characters and wasn't up to par for a boss fight when it came up. He has that attack that hits the whole party though. I have no one with the mimic skill in this current set up. Are there really no better ideas than the tried and true methods everyone knows? Forgot things started so quaint and simple. I thought you took it because of the promotion opportunity. Running from battles will be good to keep your videos progressing so thats a great choice. Last time I played FF VII I was gonna level up in the final crater area with a view to taking the weapons down. It proved too tedious (even with my attempts at levelling materia added in) and I'm not a fan of the crater itself so hanging round it wasn't my idea of fun. Come to think of it, is there an FF with a likeable final dungeon? They are always so abstract and removed from whats come before.
  9. Hilarious. I like to leave the names as they should be the first time through and then mess around on subsequent, more lighthearted files. This is my intention in every single RPG I play. Never done it except in Pokémon Red and DQ IX which I swiftly reset back to lvl 1 anyway... I think I might eventually max everyone out in Chrono Trigger thanks to the NG+. I don't think I have any Ribbons unless only certain classes can equip them in FFV. I'm strong enough to withstand attacks and can get healed back up, its just when he hits with the status afflictions it all goes horribly pearshaped. Just checked out episode one, @Andyliini. Its interesting to see you go with a thief but I think I know your longterm reasoning. Still, I'm hoping for lots of stealing shenanigans to follow!
  10. Is Berserker not a bit... uncontrollable? I went out and did stuff I didn't think was really necessary - like get all the legendary weapons and the GBA specific jobs. Swapped my party round to two Gladiators, WHM and Ranger and lasted longer versus Neo Exdeath but ultimately died again to his multi status attack. Levels are now up round ~45 so I should be overpowered which is making this a bit embarrassing. I have Hermes Sandals on all four characters but I might see how many ribbons I have and put them on instead to help guard against those status effects. I think I have a strategy in mind now after that defeat: - get the !Mix command on - boost my main attackers level through the roof - go wild with the buffs using !Dualcast with the WHM - ...gradually plink away at Neo Exdeath... - ????? - profit @Andyliini that sucks with your capture tech. I will still have a gander at what you've done thus far.
  11. How in detail about the game mechanics was your commentary on that? I might give it a look. Was actually thinking of replaying FF I on Dawn of Souls which is load time free unlike Origins! The following is gonna be gobbledegook to everyone, but any pointers would be appreciated. I recently got back to a file I started last summer in FF V. I noticed I got fed up in the pyramid last year, so exited and levelled up to reacquaint myself with the jobs I was trying to build. The time I put in with that allowed me to absolutely cheese my way through to the final couple of bosses before I needed to think again about what I was doing. Then this morning I got to the final boss and have nothing against his second form. : | I skipped a lot/ all the optional stuff so I'm thinking of getting out of the Void to atleast grab the lamp and farm or buy some items for my chemist to mix. I thought I read years ago of a OHKO exploit you can do with the chemist which I was shamelessly willing to go for, but after some Googling I can find nothing about it. As you can tell, I usually subscribe to the school of "if in doubt, grind it out" but I know that, at around lvl 40, my levels are easily good enough here. I just need the technique to see this out. Jobs are set up as Knight, RM, CHM, Ranger. If anyone can recall some FF V knowledge that I can't, I'd be greatly obliged.
  12. I think DKC 3 may have been dethroned by both Mario Galaxies. Maybe I should hook the SNES up and see.
  13. Hah, yeah - go ahead and check my IP. Took me five password guesses to get in and all. No one playing Chrono Trigger at the minute then? No bother - I moved on from it (or backwards) to FF V again, to the file I started last summer that's listed below in my backloggery sig. Gonna have a proper rummage and see where I can make a post about it.
  14. The DS threads are archived! Thought I was just blind and couldn't see the post reply button. I was gonna ask if any one has tackled the DS content of Chrono Trigger...?
  15. I remember seeing screenshots and previews of Twelve Tales in NMS and thinking it looked like another quality Rare game in the making. Though I'm not sure why seeing as I'm not a fan of Banjo-Kazooie or DK 64. That video has some interesting stuff in it but nothing that would have really stood out from any other 3D platformer of the time, I feel. Anyone own or play Conker's Pocket Tales? I thought it was pretty horrific. @Dcubed, your next mission, should you choose to accept it is to track down some details and footage of the fabled Timber platform game Rare had in development.
  16. Zelda II holds a special place in my gaming heart as it was the first Zelda game I played on my mates NES. Years ago, I downloaded it on the Wii VC thinking I would crack through it, using those snippets of memories I had to guide me. Well, the game totally kicked my ass - I remembered it being hard when I was wee, but not that hard... and for such little reward. Kudos to everyone here who has played through and completed it, whether using save states or not. I would maybe buy it on the eShop if there was a 3D Classics version with some/all of the improvements Grazza suggests but as things stand, if you could trade in your VC games, Zelda II would be gone.
  17. Been curious about this for what must be years without actually reading up on it, it would seem. I thought it was just a 16-bit platformer, harking back to the Disney gaming hits of yore - yes, basically, I saw the Mulan part of the games title and one screenshot and drew my own conclusions. :p Now its out and I've read a wee bit about it well... I know its designed after the "classic" Metro...i...d......
  18. 10. Xenoblade 9. Toki Tori LostWinds stole the limelight as the premier WiiWare launch title but Toki Tori should not be pushed into the shadows. A great, colourful puzzle game with catchy music that tests the old grey matter to its limits. If you still have Wii Points to spend, do yourself a favour and check this one out. 8. Mario Kart My most played Wii game. Say what you want but the Wii Wheel, the addition of bikes and of course the online, kept me coming back for more MK. 7. Skyward Sword 6. Animal Crossing My second most played Wii game and I only played it for about six weeks, clocking up 122h! AC is such a basic concept yet it is completely addictive when you get into it. Add the online aspect with the community on here and there were many a good night of fishing and hide and seek had. Lets not forget it was Nintendo's first Wii foray into the big bad world of online chat with Wii Speak. 5. Pro Evo 2008 Notched up 117h on this one, all thanks to the sublime pointer and motion controls coupled with the online component. Pro Evo is one of the best examples of how the Wii can take a long running franchise and reinvent it for the better. 4. Twilight Princess People criticise the waggle but when I replayed OoT after finishing TP and shook the Gamecube controller to chop down the grass in Kokiri Forest, I knew motion controls had got inside my psyche - and for the right reasons. 3. Super Mario Galaxy 2. Wii Sports Simply mind blowing at the time. Parents and grandparents suddenly wanted to join in and game - an amazing achievement. 1. Super Mario Galaxy 2
  19. I've played this a bit again this week but the font is still murder to make out on my telly. I was trying to mop up a few quests as I refamiliarised myself with the game (took ages to remember how to trigger a tri-attack!) and noticed there are a few I had already complete, but I need to return to certain characters to get em ticked off. This game streamlines so much, is there some obvious technique it has to point you back to these NPCs? Or was I meant to remember where they are...
  20. The postie was at the door with mine at half eight this morning. Earliest. Delivery. Ever. I was just on my way out though. Time to check out now... first impressions are that I have to cut out the AR Cards? Gimme a break.
  21. More screenshots: Looks amazing!
  22. Firion (lvl 95), Cecil (lvl 84), Cloud (lvl 84) and Squall (lvl 84). I think you have a point there actually - in my latest round of ability equipping, I think some of the moves gimped agility in favour of fire power. Oops.
  23. But I was perfect streaking the first movement of that particular Dark Note!
  24. Just checked and I got Boss 1 which doesn't drop any shards. I made an absolute KILLING in both tracks of that Dark Note so I don't know why I was stuck with the first measly boss. Thought it had to do with your score which one you got to! I've found what the movement number in the title of each Dark Note means. First digit determines the FMS (first track) and the second digit the BMS (second track).
