  1. If football commentary has taught me anything, then you need a huge list of irrelevant and meaningless "statistics" based on coincidence and small sample sizes. "I don't fancy Tim's chances. Every pokématch where somebody whose name begins with T faces somebody whose name begins with J, the trainer whose name begins with J has won, 100% of the time, out of the two previous occasions where this instance has occurred." "Not to mention the fact that trainers who wear a green cap and a red shirt have lost two thirds (out of three) of their games to trainers who have a handlebar moustache." "Tim has got to be worried about those odds."
  2. I think it stands for "Bitches Instagramming Shit Haha" or something.
  3. Surely it has to be Cheeky / nando /
  4. People keep making comments like, "why didn't the news cover Baghdad?". Well actually the news did cover that, it's just that you didn't read or share it.
  5. I do agree with you about the atrocities committed by the west, that we accept as a society. I was against Iraq and even Afghanistan, however I am in support of a war with Islamic State. This isn't a war against a regime that we disagree with, or a war against an organisation within another country, this is a war against an organisation that has swept through other nations, slaughtering civilians and destroying cities. In the same way that we supported our allies from the Nazi invasion ~80 years ago, I feel we should do the same now.
  6. [To everybody] What's your view on getting with somebody that has a boyfriend? Today I went out for drinks with some friends from work. One of the friends has a friend from Australia staying over. At first I was flirting with her a little, but then found out she had a boyfriend so back off a little (but continues to talk to each other). But I kept feeling like she was continuing to flirt with me (things like leaning in really close, pressing her legs against mine), but wasn't certain as they were all things that could be misconstrued. However shortly after that she started holding my hand under the table. At this point I decided to reciprocate. I had no qualms as I hadn't initiated things, so I feel like the onus is no longer on me; I stopped flirting when I found out she had a boyfriend, but she continued so I no longer feel guilty in reciprocating. More under-table light groping ensured, and the night did culminate in a little kiss (afterwards she kept saying "I'm so bad"). I feel like things would definitely have gone further had it not been for our mutual friend whose house she is staying at. Am I in the wrong here? I know that technically what I'm doing is wrong, and I'm not questioning that, but my thoughts is it's down to her to be faithful to her boyfriend, not me. I'd be interested in knowing your thoughts. Please be brutally honest I won't be offended (and not to be dismissive but no matter what the consensus is I will take it further given the opportunity /badperson).
  7. Yeah it was a date. She did say she felt bad, but didn't actually say sorry. So fuck that. I wish I could have gone with a line like yours, but I'm much to awkward for that.
  8. "Hey, ah completely forgot, are you there on your own?" Yep. Everybody wants a convenient date.
  9. It's been 15 minutes and I'm considering leaving. Reckon I'll give it another 5. She's seen my what's app message so it's not looking promising.
  10. I think I'm being stood up. How long should I wait before I leave?
  11. Wow, well spotted.
  12. I don't know what he was feeling, but that image/text makes it sound a little preachy and moany.
  13. I think its more a case of.moaning, "I'm making a million pound with a decent job, hut I could be making 2 million if it weren't for evil people using adblock. Woe is me."
  14. "Haven’t gotten laid in a while? No worries, just head down to KFC" They're doing it all wrong! You go to KFC afterwards, not instead of.
  15. Innovation offers a better all-round service that people are willing to pay for. Apple are both technologically and marketing innovative (though, despite popular belief, they are not inventive; apple have never invented anything). The iPod was not the first mp3 player, they were about four years too late in that regard, but they were the first to offer a complete package. They saw that the issue with mp3 players was the lack of availability of digital music. So they created the iPod which they bundled with iTunes (which they also didn't create, they bought out soundjam mp). Its the same.story with the macintosh, which was the first prebuilt PC (previously they were only kit form). They also produced the first mouse and GUI (which they bought from Xerox). The first smartphone was from Palm years before the iPhone, but it had little functionality, and the internet network wasn't ready for a product like that, son they created the iPhone with the app store (the touch screen was.made by finger works, so apple bought the company). Same story with the tablet (Microsoft made a tablet PC first). It's not that money isn't a driver, it's that money isn't the primary driver. Hence why BMWs are more expensive than Hondas, even though Hondas are better by every quantifiable metric. But Hondas don't carry the same level of prestige. People are willing to pay for complete packages. Apple were announced as the biggest company a few years ago (although it was debatable whether it was actually the China petroleum group; either way they're still up there). Yet their products are the most expensive in their field, and anyone "in the know" will shout about how they're not the best phone/PC/tablet in the market, and how you can get so much better for less money, but they still outsell their rivals. Watching shows like bake off, or big brother, or keeping up with the kardashians is far more mundane, but shows like that have drawn in millions of viewers for years. The idea that most people want the most stimulating/intellectually challenging entertainment is just unfounded nonsense.
  16. But neither of those services faded because they charged too much. They faded because better services.came along. Their lack of innovation, whilst their competitors innovated, is what caused the shift. It's a very old-fashioned view (that many people still have) that money is the primary driver in the market. Think of any major market shift and it most likely was due to innovation rather than cost. Apple didn't become the biggest company in the world by being the cheapest, they did it through innovation.
  17. Possibly, but there's not really any real substitute poised to take its place. Other video hosting sites just aren't as good, popular, or have the community. That's the main asset YT has, a large community of filmmakers with a huge subscriber base. Filmmakers aren't going to risk going to a substitute and losing their community. Any competitor product first needs to have a USP that YT doesn't have. You can't just come along and say "hey we're the same but with less ads" as that isn't enough.
  18. As pointless as collecting Disney blurays?
  19. I think you need to start learning what to say now you've got a sports bike.

  20. I was thinking more along the lines of the celebrity status of youtubers. As we were around when it began we still see them as home movie makers who got lucky. Whereas the generation below us equate them with hollywood celebs. When that survey first broke there were so many people questioning it. Statements along the lines of, "How can PewDiPie be bigger than Brad Pitt? That's wrong, they're wrong." It's hard for older generations to equate the mega-celebrity status of youtubers with the mega-celebrity status of hollywood actors. But that's how teens see them. When I was a teenager I probably spent over £20 a month going to the cinema a few times, so it's not that hard to think of teenagers spending $11 a month to have 24/7 on demand content from their favourite celebrities.
  21. It's because we're the wrong generation. We just don't get it. Survey: YouTube Stars More Popular Than Mainstream Celebs Among U.S. Teens Well their last financial statement was in February, so they could have turned a profit since then, but yeah it's true.
  22. YouTube doesn't actually turn a profit, it just about breaks even (after years of losses). Google's plan is to get people to visit YouTube regularly to see what to watch, as opposed to.relying on sharing and embedding links as it currently does. So that strategy combined with this move does suggest that your thoughts on Google.producing its own content is on the money.
  23. Had a chance to try it out yet? How is it?
