The problem with making us wait so long before they reveal it is that it will run a risk of feeling extremely underwhelming if it hasn't made the strides in gaming that Nintendo need be making. Which they have a habit of doing.
Better they get it out there asap and upsell it as best they can to drive away any disappointment rather than not have the time to do so.
If they have made said strides though, then it'll be a case of "good things come to those who wait" and we'll all thank the gods.
Well I'm torn between PSVR or NX. I've no pre-ordered the PSVR because of the NX... but as time goes on I'm getting more and more tempted to just put my money down on PSVR and get it whenever I get it.
Others may feel the same. Especially seeing how many felt about the WiiU... I'm not speaking just for myself as I know there are many who felt the same. Nintendo's fanbase is dwindling, they need to show us why we should stay or risk losing more.
Except by then people may have just bought PSVR, the PS4Pro or the XBOs as the lack of information from Nintendo was too troubling for them after the absolutely abysmal generation that was the WiiU.
@Serebii read the Polygon quote in tweet I posted, that's why.
Offering it as a prize when nothing about it is known, not even its final name..!
It's completely stupid.
But if they think the NX will share discussion then it will never be the case that it won't. It will always be compared to the other two.
Unless they push the portable side of it most, in which case it doesn't matter when they announce it so they could do it now.
The reason I think it's important they announce it is so people don't decide too quickly in getting either one of the other two or VR.
I'm in the mind of getting either NX or PSVR.
If they keep dordling with their reveal I might just bite the bullet and pick up PSVR, there'll be others thinking similarly.
Microsoft throwing punches...

The extra level of clarity intrigues me only for multiplayer... if it helps spotting enemies in an FPS for example (ie: head-glitchers in CoD).
Otherwise I'm not all too fussed about being able to see a beach a little more clearly in the Uncharted campaign, for example.
So have they confirmed framerates will be improved in games going forward? I'd be hoping for a stable 60fps across the board really.
Any chance they've been waiting for Sony to unveil the PS4Pro and dependant on market feedback on that decide whether they'd use the Tegra X1 or the X2 chip?
Given that the PS4Pro didn't seem like a big thing, I think it's time Nintendo announce the hell out of NX, they'd not be overshadowed by the Sony announcement (OK, so it's just because I hate waiting really, haha).
