  1. Same as. Pathetic, everyone else still had battery on the sunday. AND I kept mine off most the time, urgh. Killer weekend for music this year, I saw
  2. Well Im back. That was a pretty fucking amazing weekend...
  3. Touch wood, you seem to be correct!! Also feeling crap yesterday but better for much of today, hopefully it shall stay this way. Im getting quite excited at long last!! Though if the weather here's anything to go by, the campsites are gonna be swamped...
  4. You know how shit it is being ill the day before Reading begins? Clue: It's utterly shit
  5. Lol I wish I'd read TTW earlier, only forced myself to get round to it so Id read it before watching the film. I wasn't just jumping on the bandwagon honest! Will Smith movie: thought it was actually pretty good for the first halfish, though I wasn't much of a fan of how the vampires looked, didn't seem enough like real people to me, too freakish. And as you say the book had (by far) the better ending. I'll have to watch teh other two films at some point... Ooh good to know, shame our school didn't go for it, they did for Spies by Michael Frayne the other year and that's more recent - 2002 (quite a similar book as well). I don't think you really need material and critics references ect so long as the teachers are good enough. My girlfriend's told me the school's now doing Enduring Love, which is odd as from what I gather Atonement would be far more interesting to study than EL. At last I have finished!!! Tears were shed, though ultimately the ending wasn't quite as depressing as I'd anticipated, which was kinda nice. Great book anyhows, I eagerly anticipate the film.. 9 / 10
  6. I just watched Atonement having read the book, pleasantly surprised by it. Whoever thought of the whole typewriter being a big part of the soundtrack deserves a big pat on the back, worked really well. Looked stunning aswell, 'that' panning shot of Dunkirk is completely staggering. Bits were missed off and the war section in particular was chopped down to about 10 minutes which was abit disappointing, but yeah, good watch. 8 / 10
  7. Edited the 2nd post, try it again. Toss the turtle if not
  8. Good point. I suck. Lets try again http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/508440 Edit: Wow I really am inept!! 3rd time lucky
  9. Way too addictive: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/508440 turtle launching game Don;t play it you won't be able to stop.
  10. Gotta love the Brooker. He's enough of a god just for Screenwipe and Newswipe. Plus theres the fact that he started off writing for videogame magazines, to become an aweosme columnist, then an even more awesome tv... person. In other news, 15 minutes to put together a fancy dress costume. Can't really be bothered. The theme is movies. I was going to go as Shaun from Shaun of the Dead (because he's easy to do and is also ginger) but I don't have a red tie. Ideas?
  11. Aaaahhhh I've just rediscovered Rex the Runt, anyone ever watched? They're all up on youtube. It is to Wallace and Gromit what Family is to The Simpsons or summat. Watch a minute and tell me your not amazed.
  12. Ah fair enough, yeah she could have looked at him a bit more. Agreed on finding out about his child too... such a stunning book. Books what I've read of late: Virgin Suicides - About the suicides of 5 sisters, but it's as much about them as it is about the boys who watch and obsess about them. Memorising. 8 / 10 Brave New World - Why everyones read 1984 but few have read this is beyond me. Very interesting and like 1984, it's hardly aged - 9 / 10 Time Traveller's Wife - As close to perfect that I have read. Looking forward to her new one. 10 / 10 Real World - Set in Japan, 4 girls help a kid escape the police following his murdering of his mother. Well written but angst angst angst, urgh. 5 / 10 I Am Legend - Last man alive amongst a world now populated by vampires. Cracking read, far superior to the film, nice explorations of loneliness and madness and all that 9 / 10 Drowned World - JG Ballards first novel, written about a post global warming world where London has become swamped, before global warming was really recognised as a problem. Initially tough to get through but pretty interesting, especially the protagnoist who goes abit mad - 7 / 10 High Fidelity - Watched after reading teh film, kinda felt like watching an extended cut. Hilarious, and great observations about music and sex. "Why is failure the first thing I think of when I find myself in this sort of situation? Why can't I just enjoy myself? But if you have to ask the question, then you know you're lost: self-consciousness is a man's worst enemy. Already I'm wondering whether she's as aware of my erection as I am..." 9 / 10 Long Way Down - 4 people attempting to commit suicide meet on the top of a building and decide to form a pact not to commit suicide. Not as good as HF but readable. 6 / 10 Atonement -Fuck me this one's a pretty damn good book. The sort of book that I could imagine studying at A level but actually enjoying. Fascinating. 10 / 10 The Road - 50 Pages left to read. I have a feeling the ending may well destroy me.
  13. Ahh darn I should so have said hi then! Fraid I won't be out tonight, still knackered from last night, went to Liquid, christ that place is crap. Anyways, if you're in the pub one day and a ginger guy asks if you're Fish it's probably me :P
  14. Don't suppose you were at the Inn last night? Saw someone who I thought might be you but decided not to risk it in case I ended up asking a random stranger if they were Fish
  15. Can't say Im much of a Tiesto fan but Tegan and Sara have done a collaberation track with him, Feel it in my Bones. Not half bad. http://www.myspace.com/tiesto New album soon, I cannot wait.
  16. Few of my friends are going there, they be rather excited Or at least im pretty sure it's a ... I only got ABB though they were asking AAB and said it was almost certain they wouldn;t let people in who didn;t match their offers :S Still, UCAS say I've been accepted... pretty fookin weird
  17. COME THE FUCK ON!!! Aaaha, I in no way deserved that, so relieved. Well done everyone
  18. I'd agree with Jayseven, absolutely staggering read from start to finish. I was literally in tears by the end of it. Anyone seen the film? I'm almost scared to go see it in case they cock it up. Which two characters did you feel were underwritten by the way? Agreed on the lack of dealing with the philophy of the time travel though, potentially a very interesting subject to explore. In other news, read a healthy five books on holiday this year, I'll do a brief rating of each when im less tired. Atonement was the best of the, great book.
  19. Thanks for the early birds heads up, told a couple of friends and now they're going down their early to get us a space ^.^ Im far less excited about this year, no particular reason why, last year was the nuts. Whos still got their wristband on?
  20. Films what I saw on the plane on holiday: The Boat that Rocked 7.5 / 10 - Pretty good fun and all, pretty great soundtrack to match. Can't go wrong with that cast either... Murray from FoTC and everything!! Insomnia Which was rather what I was felling like, at 6am on a long haul flight and a fat guy sprawled across me stopping the sleep. Anyways, pretty good, Nolans worst film imo, still gets 7.5 / 10 I Love You, Man It had the mighty Paul Rudd in it, that's all that matters really 7 / 10
  21. A levels out tomorrow and all that, thought Id make a thread for those in the same boat. Needing AAB meself, and as I stumbled across the Art department's marks sheets and found I have a healthy B, means I need 2 A's tomorrow :S Anyone else waiting? Oh and does anyone know if the rumor that UCAS track is updated at midnight is true?
  22. Oh! Oh! Pick me!! Big fan of Commit This to Memory, even if it does feature the incredibly emo sounding song title 'Let's Get Fucked Up and Die'. The acoustic version of Fell In Love Without You (which I may or may not have found from gossip girl) is worth checking out too. In other news, went to see Simian Mobile Disco as part of the itunes festival on wednesday. Fuck me it was good, AND it it was free!! Megawinz. Got horribly drunk and sweaty. ect
  23. Im also a big fan of the pen spinning, but though I seem to have perfected the basic pen spin I've yet to succeed with anything more complex. Only thing is that when you first try and learn it you always spin it off and make the pen fly half way across the room, looking like a massive nob in the process. Perhaps not the most popular thing to keep doing in exams. Im also a big fan of blu tac, although it's way too tempting to chew on. Not that I ever have.
  24. Been listening to alot of Pacewon & Mr Green of late, The Only Colour That Matters is Green is a pretty great album. And The Joker samples Daft Punk (Back on topic, pow!) In other news, MEGAWINZ, my friend won Simian Mobile Disco tickets from itunes for tomorrow, convinced him to take me, yey. Any fans? I need to listen to more of their stuff quickly
  25. *Tuts* I remember thinking the Departed was amazing when I watched it, though I can't remember why I thought it was so great. I need to rewatch... Listening now, pretty good score by the sounds of things. It's amazing how easily a good score can improve a film. And Into the Wild's a great film, and speaking of soundtracks the Eddie Vedder soundtrack is pretty good (And Kaki King helped with teh recording, trivia fans!) Alexander Supertramp is a bit of a fool yeah. Interesting guy though, I read the book, he's a bit more of a nutter than the film made out. Good read too. High Fidelity Awesome!! Some of the music references were lost on me (lots of 80s music and such) which makes me look forward to 10 years or so, when references will be about music from the 00s. But yeahse, John Cusak is at his best, amusing narration and such, and I love the film's obsession with lists and mixtapes. And Jack Black, who often annoys me, cracked me up as well. Can't thin of any negatives. Go watch yo! 10 / 10
