  1. Absolutely my most anticipated game right no. All the impressions I've heard of the game are sounding great. I'll even give it a free pass on buying myself a PS3 way back when mainly for this game..
  2. Well yeah, because Sony / Microsoft fans have more than one game to show, so obviously their social media discussion is more thinly spread. Nonetheless, I'm really quite intrigued by it. I'm into the sense of verticality in the world design, and the general shadow of the colossus combined with NES Zelda vibe. Almost has a bit of No Man's Sky in the general mystery of exploration. Nonetheless.. I'm with Drahkon when he mentions that it doesn't seem to do anything new. Not to ramble on again about Witcher 3, but the shadow of that game is going to loom large over this - most of the stuff we've seen, that game (and others) have done before, and better - and theyve had vibrant set of npcs and bustling locations to boot (I'm aware they're yet to show the towns but..). Hopefully the use of items , physics, and some fleshy main dungeons can make it distinct enough to withstand comparisons. Anyway, I'm intrigued. Don't own a WiiU and have no interest in an NX so this'll have to be seriously good to justify the purchase after the stinker that was Skyward Sword...
  3. Chaps gutted to say I won't be able to stay up for the Sony conference - absolutely loved being in the chat the last couple of years. If anyone could save all the chat and put it in a post as has been done last before that would be aweesome.
  4. ^ That looks really interesting. I'm a big Mark Strong fan so I'll check it out - doesn't seem to be getting a proper UK release though so might have to wait. Has anyone seen the new Ghibli flick yet? A little baggy in the middle and a little less fantastical than would be expected from the studio but I found it to be incredibly moving by the end.. to the extent that I was practically in floods of tears. Quite beautiful, and surprising in it's tone (keeping it vague for spoilers). I highly recommend!
  5. Came in here to ask the very same question! I find it fairly enjoyable to browse at work given there's always about 6 new stories on the page. More importantly though I feel like they're one of the few videogame sites that do actual journalism, at least in so far as I'm aware. The No Man's Sky delay and the PS4 4K both spring to mind as recent stories broken by the site. In those cases both were also news rather than just information given to the site by publishers, which seems to be the way that most videogame 'news' websites work. Open to the idea that it's not particularly well written, but I'm still interested in why it gets all the hate
  6. Come on lads give me the cred for calling it a couple weeks back yeah?
  7. Ha yeah for suure. Those games shaped the music tastes of thousands of millennials I'm sure! Loving these other Borderlands ones too. Didn't realise the awesome title sequences cme from gearbox rather than Telltale. Good suggestions all round
  8. Pretty much agree with this. I feel like everyone hating on it is doing so either because they're member of Cult of Clarkson, and so were never going to like it, or people who'd forgotten that Top Gear is pretty boring to watch week in week out if you don't have an interest in cars. Le Blanc was great, not sold on Evans, but Top Gear was pretty dire when it started from the clips I've seen. I do feel like they'd benefit from a third main presenter - I thought Sabine was meant to fill that role but she seemed reduced to a bit part. Anyway, seemed fine to me, might even watch a few episodes this season for a change. Prime video has some ok content but the UI (or lack thereof) for their video service is utterly baffling to me. It's utterly atrocious. That said I'm actually quite interested in watching GT if they go for more of the big adventure specials - Vietnam, Myanmar, Bolivia, were all absolutely top class entertainment in my book.
  9. I was playing through Tales of the Borderlands (great!) and one of the episodes starts with this fantastic title sequence set to a brilliant Twin Shadow track. It was epic, it hit that slightly cheesy 80s romp vibe that the series hits, and it added a sense of gravity to the episode. Went straight to spotify when I was done. One of many great choices of licensed music in the series. Has anyone got any personal picks? The Fallout 50's music is obviously a winner, as is the excellent Jose Gonzalez track in Red Dead And ofc
  10. Whaa?? Hold up. How do I do this? Is there a website to do so? Do you have to pay extra for the set or is it free if you have the pass?
  11. Reviews are trickling out! Essential from eurogamer 9 / 10 destructoid and 9 / 10 ign Great reviews pretty much across the board. Bring it aawwnnn!
  12. Interesting one to think about. I find that these days, looking back at my recently played catalogue, it's one of a couple of things. - Simple controls, hard to master - Rocket League, N++, Geometry Wars etc. Only a few buttons, simple concepts, excellently executed. I want pure, excellently finessed gameplay that you can dive in and out of. As @Kav says, multiplayer and particularly co-op seal the deal for me. - Excellent story with choices - Telltale games, Firewatch, Witcher 3 - multiple choice choices in a fleshed out world with strong characters. In most cases the gameplay becomes secondary if the story is strong enough to hold up. (I'd also add that graphical stylishness (titan souls, firewatch, hyperlight drifter) and explorability (skyrim, witcher 3, fallout 4) are made up terms that that attract me to buy games but dont neccessarily leave me hooked) Looking back at the games I've played the last 3 years, they pretty much all fall into those two categories!
  13. ^^ lol at House of Cards being the comparison of a great show. They're both hugely entertaining but they clearly aim for and achieve similar things - being hugely entertaining dramas, tier B, as doggy dog puts it. Nonetheless, this season has been fantastic thus far. I feel like, freed from the shackles of the source material, the plot is moving twice as fast this season. The bran scenes last episode were truely awesome in payoff. And the acting is always top notch.
  14. Agreed. But also I'm wondering about the timing - I swear I got the Guardian notificaiton on my phone about 15 minutes after the game. Could've at least given LVG the evening to celebrate his trophy! Press conference afterwards sounded ridiculous
  15. ^ Dunno if you really need to to, to be honest. I'd never played 1 or 2 and never felt particularly in the dark barring a brief bit of dialogue at the start. Anyway, totes psyched. My girlfriend goes back to Italy for a couple months a days before release. This, U4, No Man's Sky, swooping in to fill dat void - timing couldn't be more perfect. These 12 mutations sound like a great way to spice up the combat. Only thing I'm hoping is that I'd like it to be a little more integrated to the world than Hearts of Stone was - would like a few more W3 characters integrated in for a nice catchup. Or maybe I just want to see true love of my life Triss again? In any case, £20 for these two expansions is bonkers value. Bring it onnn. This shot got me salivating
  16. Hello pals I have quite a general query - I'm to get back into watching a bit of anime again after rewatching Death Note last year and noticing that there's quite a good catalogue on netflix now. Asides from the big really long ones (had my fill with naruto back in the day - tho I might give Brotherhood a go) have you guys got any highlights from the last few years? I remember quite liking Death Note, Beck, Noein, Baccanno, back in the day. I guess I like sort of rooted-in-contemporary and down-to-earth-ish stuff? I haven't watched any in about 8 years so - any big series' I've missed out on? I'm kind of interested in Physcho Pass, Attack on Titan, Steins Gate and Knights of Sidonia, if anyone's got anything to say about them? I noticed Kav was enjoying Psycho Pass a few pages back.
  17. Cheers brahh!! First three pics I posted were taken on my phone (S6) so that kind of snap should be well within the range of a standard camera. The S6 has a wider focal view than my camera lenses. At the risk of giving away all my secrets... To be honest a huge amount of it is in the post processing. In Lightroom the 'clarity' and 'sharpness' sliders go a long way to bringing back the detail between colours that you can lose in jpegs out of the camera. Some people say it feels light cheating but it's really no different than using a darkroom properly with film photography. It's also what the .raw format is there for, if you have a dslr. You have a lot more scope to play around with exposure, colour temperature, etc etc afterwards. I'm sure there are free alternatives to LR (the Lux slider in instagram produces a similar effect) but I'd say Lightroom is maybe worth the cash if you're into photography. Or get it by other means of course.. Here's the original of one of those images in raw. Huge difference! For scenery pictures, consider where you spot focus to set the exposure and stuff (focusing on landscape can blow out / overexpose the sky, sky focusing can lose detail on landscape). To be honest the landscape preset settings on most cameras do a pretty good job. And obviously a tripod will give you more detail. And as Smeagol says, it's all about the lighting angle (dat golden hour) Hope that helps!
  18. Dont have 3d glasses but looks intersting - how do you do it? same camera moved a touch?
  19. Oh no I only read he was ill a week or so ago, going through the bad stuff thread for the first time, and I was gutted to think I was probably too late to pass on my wishes. As someone else already said, I was hoping he'd be there to see the Europa final on wednesday. From the rests of his posts over the past few months I'd never have known. A real legend amongst the Xpert crowd, and I always found him to be a great presence in the football thread. He was also kind of spiky on occasion, which I loved - especially a total treat for the Xpert banter. Seemed to me to be a pretty smart guy aswell, and as others have said, a really nice guy. To think he was my age is awful. We should, without a doubt, name the first season of the new Xpert11 league that starts in September in his honour. I'll message @Haden to remind him - he's not often on the forums but he'll definitely remember maddog fondly and want to honour him.
  20. Sissoko pulled off a shocker of a dive to win the penalty for 3-1 that put us out of the running to be fair but still.. abysmal, embarrassing, didn't think we'd fall apart in quite the style that we have since the Chavs game. Surely Newcastle would've been nailed on to stay up if Rapha came in sooner? Knew Townsend would flash back to his 2014 form for this one..
  21. Just to randomly butt in - I really agree with this but also I think you can take it a step further to tackle your employment gap. From some (limited) experience of design interviews I'd say that you can probably blag the employment gap to make it seem as if at least part of it was time where you've been ull / part time freelancing. I think you only need a few solid pages in a portfolio of actual client work - or at least pages that look like actual a client work - to fill a few months of 'graphic design freelancing'. Even better if you manage to get a few freelance jobs to act as references.
  22. Depends how well they recruit in summer doesn't it (and if they can hang on to Mahrez). I could see them having a similar season to Liverpool's after placing second a couple years back. Not that I think they'll do badly but I suspect Conte's Chelsea, Guardiola's City, and Klopp's Liverpool will all be much stronger contenders alongside us and Arsenal. Can't be bothered to trawl through the last couple pages but to return to how that bit dazzy brawl started, I do actually agree, with a now-cool head, that it was pretty shameful on Monday from Chelsea. If I was one of their supporters I'd be embarrassed about the contrast in performance. Look at Hazard springing into life in the last couple weeks of the season after putting in absolutely no effort to collect his 200k a week this year. Playing for a contract? Piss off to PSG. Moreover, this whole thing of the Chelsea players wanting a Leicester title is bullshit. 'We don’t want Tottenham to win the Premier League, the fans, the club and the players”. Idiot. Leicester winning the title this year is special precisely because it's the absolute opposite of what Abramovic's Chelsea set in motion and represent. It's been about an incredible team spirit, momentum, and respect for their manager. Not your story m8. As King Kane put it after the game, 'when you've got the champions celebrating a draw with us like they've won a cup we know we're doing something right'.
  23. Oh this video on sky sports of the Leicester squad at Vardy's house is fucking superb!!!!
  24. Yeah haha I was getting pumped up at up toward the end! Think we were on about 8 yellows by the end? Fucking loved it when Dier scythed Fabregas in the last few minutes. City better do Arsenal next weekend cause I think we could be a couple players down from now, plus delle's suspension... Edit: Haha 9!! Outstanding. Square square square.
