  1. When a sequel comes almost 10 years later, people expect it to have a pretty big leap, at least to have modern features expected in games today. No-one's asking for it to re-invent the wheel. You're claiming people have said things they really haven't! And for all the moaning about people not accepting positivity, you're the one who keeps saying "supposed failed console". Not the rest. You've got a real chip on your shoulder about it! Kav, Rummy, King V etc are just saying how things could be better! This is a discussion forum! Everyone acknowledges Nintendo have made some great games. But this forum would be pretty boring if there was no discussion to be had about them other than "yes, they're great!"
  2. So, why not go to the new shop, that the regional manager seems to be offering you? You'd then be away from the manager you don't like, right? And you left the shoe shop before because you didn't like that/had a problem with staff there, if I remember correctly? To me, that sounds like the better option...
  3. I played Sonic before Mario because my cousins had a megadrive. My first console was a Game Boy Color, in July 1998, and my first game was actually Wario Land 2. I'm not sure I owned an actual Mario game until I got my N64 at Christmas 1999, then picked up Mario 64 shortly after in early 2000. If you count Smash though, I got that with my N64. I had definitely played Mario before that though, but my gaming experience in the 90s was quite limited!
  4. That is EXACTLY what I thought while watching it! Just got back from seeing it. Incredible.
  5. Seriously, third parties aren't going to let their games go on a cheap subscription when they are sold digitally for a higher price than what you typically pay at a shop. They were willing at first with PS+, but it was with games that were a couple of years old, for an extra boost of revenue, not the main income. And I wouldn't be surprised if Sony weren't making any profit from it at all. But as the move to PS4 happened, it's mainly now indies that are included. You typically don't get full retail titles. If they don't do it for Sony, there's no chance in hell they'd do it for Nintendo. I think we'd all quite like to see Nintendo offer a subscription model like PS+ with their virtual console titles etc., but it's never going to be the main way games are bought.
  6. Haha, that's a ridiculous rumour. If $8 is going to developers, which is basically what Nintendo charge for one VC game, so never in the slightest realistic, you're getting the console for $2 a month! $24 a year! Nintendo would go bust within a year!

    Overwatch

Had a go of this last night, just for an hour, but had a blast! I'm not really that great at online shooters, but the amount of different play styles made it a lot of fun, and I even got play of the match on my first game! Will definitely be picking this up soon, even if I am a little late to the party!
  8. Pretty much, if we're going by the level of hardware :p
  9. This FAQ gives a good overview of the whole console and what it does and doesn't do. http://blog.us.playstation.com/2016/09/08/ps4-pro-the-ultimate-faq/ It all seems pretty fair to me, it's simply a boosted PS4 for those who have a 4K TV or those who are the type to want the absolute best graphics possible. It's just giving consumers options. Like how you have the choice of 3DS or 3DS XL, 500GB or 1TB hard drive consoles, you can choose to have the console suited to a standard HD TV, or the one that'll be great on a 4K one. I'll be fine with my standard PS4, if someone thinks this one will suit them, good for them!
  10. Surely the development of different visual modes isn't going to be any bother at all for developers? Most games that come to PS4/Xbox are on the PC as well, where they're already catering for different spec machines. It's not going to put them under any pressure. Have they said it's compulsory to develop to cater for 4K? I didn't think they had, so the developer will surely only develop extra visual modes if they want to.
  11. Slim is replacing the current model, which I'm sure is still £299 RRP? There'll be loads of bundles and offers, no doubt. They just wouldn't have them in this meeting. And with the PS4 still selling bucketloads, they weren't gonna drop the price much, anyway.
  12. So they took New Super Mario Bros, set it so right on the D pad was continuously held, tweaked a few things and ported it to iOS! Easy money!
  13. You all joked about Nintendo showing up at this - Miyamoto was just at the Apple event to announce a Mario game for iOS!
  14. They mean a more PS4 like d-pad, where each button is separate, rather than the traditional Nintendo one which is all joined together.
  15. It came up during the checkout process, can't remember which stage. Hope you find it!
  16. Here you go! Bought some cards from them recently, and if you like them on Facebook you get a little discount
  17. It seems like we've been trying to get Mustafi for a while, but as usual with Arsenal, we've dragged our feet about it. I think he could be a decent signing. Perez on the other hand, I know nothing about. Maybe he'll surprise and be amazing. What we really needed to do was splash the cash and buy a world-class striker, but there was no way Wenger was doing that. He would say that it's hard to buy that sort of striker, that's right, and it'd be expensive, but I doubt he even tried. I'm a fan of Olivier Giroud, he's a very good striker, but he always goes through a dry spell. Not convinced Perez will be the answer.
  18. £1m isn't anywhere near enough to give up work for. Maybe if you were 60, you'd retire early, but if you're in your 20s, £1m won't go far. Would probably buy a house, maybe two. One in London, one in Southampton. Or maybe one abroad. That would take up most of the million. Would spend the rest doing some fun stuff like travelling, and put some away for emergencies. £100m would be a completely different question!
  19. I don't really what makes it the group of death, other than the fact it has Barca and Man City. In reality, it has: Barcelona England's 4th best side Germany's 4th best side Scotland's champions, but Scottish football is crap. Yes, that's putting Man City down a bit, but just stating the facts. I wouldn't say there's a real group of death, but there's several other groups I'd say will be tougher/closer than that. Pretty pleased with Arsenal's group. Thank god it wasn't possible to get Dortmund, and we've avoided our annual double header with Bayern or Barca until the next round! Leicester have a chance of getting through to the next round potentially. Spurs are jammy and have a Europa League group!
  20. Have a great time in Japan, I hope they appreciate the Ainsley t-shirt over there!
  21. I'll get the obvious ones out of the way so everyone else can be more creative Online! Voice chat!
  22. Well no, obviously Nintendo aren't doing it right because their console failed. We're all saying what they need to do to become more successful. We're all Nintendo fans. I love their games. But they need to do better, especially when supporting a console almost single handedly. That actually sounds like a pretty diverse set of games to me...
  23. Disney may be bigger. But they're one of the big six film studios. Nintendo are one of the big three video game platform holders. I think it's a fair comparison, of course there are going to be differences across industries, but they're both large, influential conglomerates within their respective fields with a family friendly image. I don't think anyone is saying Nintendo need to make all of these games in different styles! Just that their platform needs a bigger variation in style desperately. You've brought it back to genre, but we're talking mood and style as well. (Plus, do they only sell so well because there's nothing else available? ) There's also a difference between Nintendo as a developer, and Nintendo as a publisher and console maker. Nintendo as a developer can vary the style of their output a lot more than they are currently. As a publisher, they need to be reaching out to other developers, getting them to work with them as co-productions, even buying out more studios. There are examples of this, like the Wonderful 101, like you've mentioned below. No Metroid, but another cartoon platformer. Great if you're a fan of the series, but provides no diversity to your line-up. If you aren't going to buy the console for Mario, you're not going to buy it for Donkey Kong. Wonderful 101 wasn't made by Nintendo, but was published by them. They should definitely be doing stuff like this, but Wonderful 101 and Bayonetta are VERY niche games. But the point is, Wonderful 101 didn't stop Nintendo from making F-Zero. And it's great that Zelda is looking so good. But it's too late. They should be expanding the Zelda team so it doesn't take so bloody long to make one!
  24. I keep meaning to start this but I can't drag myself away from the Olympics! Will be a priority to start next week when it's all over!
