  1. Having never played Fire Emblem before, I was mainly referring to Cloud Strife. However, I have to admit the following picture also looks rather familiar: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v332/Lordemblem/Windlord/Drawings/VanguardIke.jpg
  2. I'm sure I'm not the first one to mention this, but ... The main character is a mercenary and carries around on his back a sword pretty much larger than himself? If they add spikey hair I'd definitely buy this, provided they'll ever bother with releasing it in Europe of course.
  3. Despite reviving a rather old thread for this, I thought I'd reevaluate my previous opinions on TP vs WW after finally having finished the latter yesterday. In short, I thought it was great, or, more specifically, 'special'. It definately had much more sidequests than TP, although I still think the latter didn't have too few. I also very much liked the particular role that Hyrule had to play in WW's story, and the ending (without going into detail) made it all the more dramatic. However, if I'm to decide on which I thought to be the better game overall, I think I would still pick TP, although the choice seems to have become much harder now. I felt a bit more involved in the story there and there were certain aspects of TP that really made it into a classic for me; its visual style and (especially) the moment when I first heard the boss room calm theme after defeating Diababa springing to my mind. Nonetheless, WW has also managed to make a big impression on me, and I'm rather happy that despite having owned a copy of phantom hourglass for quite a while now, I refused to play it until I would finish WW. So now I still have the sequel to play.
  4. Ok, thanks. I especially like the conclusion a lot.
  5. Was Temujin already mentioned? It plays a bit like the 7th guest in that you have to walk around in a museum solving puzzles (first person view), with the other people present being portrayed by real actors. Also: The Journeyman Project (1, 2 and 3), Beyond Zork, Zork Nemesis and Zork the Grand Inquisitor.
  6. How exactly does this test work? The folder, when clicked on, doesn't show any text. It only contains a link to some map which, again, isn't accompanied by any further text or things to click on. (Or should I use something else than the combination of Linux with Firefox?)
  7. I just rediscovered the awesomeness that was Tears for Fears (break it down again, head over heels, ...). That stuff was great.
  8. I can when awake, but I apparently talk (or rather mumble) in my sleep. So probably not.
  9. I actually took a course once where we worked in teams to build a very simple text-to-speech converter for a text consisting of monosyllabic words. It was pretty cool.
  10. I actually remember having had the left-most one, although I don't know whether it was in the same color.
  11. It is only now, after all those years, that I found out that the (original 8-bit) metroid title theme was actually extremely good. I always just used to skip it and immediately get to the game. I am ashamed of myself.
  12. A quick look at some of the posts in this thread convinced me that what I'm going to say now has already been said countless times before. Nonetheless, I just discovered this thread and the apparent fact that they're going to do a new star trek movie. What the hell man? Casting new people as Kirk, Spock and McCoy sounds even more idiotic to me than doing a movie of the A-team with new actors. Both were great series (and, in the case of star trek, great movies), so just let it rest. Don't destroy it. All that said, I'm probably still going to see it if they will actually go through with this *and* if it gets positive reviews. Nonetheless, at the moment, this really doesn't sound very good to me.
  13. Definately going to buy this after all I've read and seen about it so far. However, I can't helpt but wonder whether Midna is in it, seen that she was a pretty important character in the (original) game.
  14. Alright, I *finally* managed to get my hands on a copy of WW. I'm first going to continue playing SOA, but once I've finished that I'll give this game a fair try. I remember having been not too happy when I saw the first screens of WW given that I had expected something a little more realistic. Now that I finally got another more 'realistic' zelda game with TP I'm more willing to give WW the benefit of the doubt. All that said, I'm sure it'll be quite good, although I still have my doubts as to whether it can be as good as TP.
  15. I want Midna in Smash Bros. (Hey, it's going to be 2008 for us right?)
  16. Anyone remember Landstalker for the Genesis / Mega Drive? Never really got the impression a lot of people played it, although it was somewhat of a cult hit I believe.
  17. Vision Red. I was thinking the same thing.
  18. Never played Baiten Kaitos and Xenosaga, but judging from the reputation of these guys I'm game if they decide to make an RPG for the wii.
  19. Regarding all the talk about milking franchises, I do think there is a difference between remaking a game and creating spinoffs. And by remaking I mean *remaking*, not porting. There are some classic games out there that are still too great to simply dissapear into the history books already. The act of remaking these games should be valued highly, for this allows us to play them once more from a renewed perspective. They have the status of a classic for a reason. Given these considerations, I think a game like FF7 should ultimately be remade, although I'm not sure whether now is the right time already, with it still being so fresh in our (that is, admittedly, the fanboys') minds. As for FF3(j) on the other hand, I think the time *was* ripe for it to be remade. And I really can't consider the result to be milking, given that it's been completely built up from the ground again. It was a classic that needed to have a comeback and the same thing should ultimately happen to FF7 too.
  20. I'll have to go with the music from the pirate level myself, although evil foundry was also quite good.
  21. Being a huge FF7 fan I have to say I certainly wouldn't mind seeing a remake on the wii. Then again, what I'd *really* like to see on the wii is an RPG that manages to make a huge impression on me again just like FF7 once did. For that, however, I think it will have to introduce quite a lot of novelties to the genre, at least compared to the RPG's we've seen for the past couple of years.
  22. Perhaps a *bit* off topic, but I recently found some NTSC versions of RE 2 and 3 remakes for the GC. I only knew of a RE1 remake. Did they ever release PAL versions of 2 and 3 for the GC?
  23. The same thing happened to me. I was close to finishing the game when I discovered the character in question wouldn't be coming back. I simply restarted the whole game, this time planning not to let said character die, but I never managed to get to the final dungeon again (lost interest).
  24. Bomberman 64. Not a lot of people seemed to like that game. Also: Orphen Scion of Sorcery for PS2.
