  1. I've never played WW so I guess I can't really say anything about this, but I thought TP did have some pretty darn good themes. I name Lake Hylia, the regular overworld (/field) theme, the music from the twilight realm (quite moody), Kakariko Village, the hidden village and the theme you hear after you beat the boss of a dungeon. Especially that last one was magic. Then there were also the boss themes themselves, which were somewhat interactive in that they changed according to the situation.
  2. For some reason I seem to like movie soundtracks and game music. And as for the latter, I have a particular fondness for tunes from the nes era (dragon warrior 1 overworld, solstice intro, bionic commando).
  3. It looks pretty good judging from the screens. I hope they'll release it here in Europe too. Of course it's not exactly as big as ff13, but I'm not really looking forward to that anymore anyway. I think I'll stick with the ds remakes when it comes to new ff's.
  4. One of my favourite episodes so far. I particularly liked the bit with the flickering light. *Very* well done.
  5. I actually thought Hyrule seemed more like 'one big place' than it did in oot. Even though it was indeed split up in different areas, there were certain "landmarks" that you could see in several areas. Hyrule castle itself was visible from almost anywhere on the overworld in the game, but the goron mountain and the bridge over lake hylia were also visible in different areas.
  6. You're forgetting Link's Awakening here.
  7. Call me crazy, but at the very least I did rather like the music myself. The whole architecture of the dungeon was indeed not very reminiscent of a city. A much better job was done there with the ice palace, which fitted quite well with it's supposed function in terms of it's architecture. Nonetheless, I didn't have the idea that all the rooms of the sky city were the same. There was enough variation to be found there.
  8. It's not like I went snowboarding for 10 hours. It's a *mini* game and quite a good one at that. It's cool enough to come back to again now and then. I simply *took my time*. I didn't make it into a contest to try and finish the game as quickly as possible. I just wanted to enjoy it. Sometimes I'd just walk around a little to try and find new stuff. And more often than not, I actually did find new things to do. For instance, when I first found out there were special digging spots that led to caves I did another round of Hyrule to try and find all of them. I don't really see what's so bad about it. It was one of the biggest (and hardest, in my opinion) temples of the game.
  9. Played around 97 hours before I finished it and I've even recently started over again... I felt there was enough to do in those 97 hours. There was snowboarding (which was pretty awesome in my opinion), this flight game at lake hylia and fishing was indeed quite cool (spent quite some time with that).
  10. I don't think I'll mention it to a lot of people when I buy chocobo tales for the DS.
  11. I personally think that's great. One of the problems I have with most rpg's these days is that spending time levelling up is not really necessary anymore. But back then, you simply had to do some grinding if you wanted to stand a chance in the next dungeon. Those were the days that I genuinely *liked* doing random battles. I was afraid they changed that, but it's good to hear that they apparently kept it like it was.
  12. Anyone here who also played the original nes version of ff3j? It was the first FF I completed and I'm quite curious as to how this remake compares to the original. I suppose they made it easier?
  13. I'll have to download this game as soon as I'm able to stock up on some wii points again. DKC1 and DKL3 (the only other games I've played in the series) were games that I could just play over and over again.
  14. Some of my all-time favourites (in no particular order): Bionic Commando stage 1 (nes version; stage 2 in the arcade version) Intro theme of Solstice for the nes Overworld theme from Alundra ('The winds that shook the earth') Tal tal heights theme from Link's awakening 'Into the thick of it' and 'Angel's fear' from Secret of Mana 'Millenial Fair' theme from Chrono Trigger that theme from twilight princess when you finish a dungeon 'J-E-N-O-V-A', 'Anxious heart' and boss battle theme from ff7 favourite battle victory theme (RPG's): from lufia 1 & 2 favourite RPG overworld theme: from the first dragon quest on the nes edit: a few i forgot: brinstar theme from metroid 1 battle theme from traverse town in kingdom hearts ichor theme from jet force gemini theme from gruntilda's lair from banjo kazooie As for the ff7 themes I listed, 'anxious heart' is definately the one that really stands out for me.
  15. I still have a load of games from the first game boy (from the top of my head: super mario land 1&2, zelda: link's awakening, mercenary force, donkey kong land 3, mario&yoshi, the jetsons, samurai showdown, and still quite a lot of others). Does that count? Must've played zelda the most from these games. I was still very young, didn't know any english yet and it was my first adventure game. I've actually spent more than two years before I finally finished it. Partly because of this game (and donkey kong land 3), I developed quite a strong 'bond' with my original gameboy at the time that I never quite got anymore with the gb color and the advance. The ds, on the other hand, seems to be able to bring me back again to the older days of the first gameboy.
  16. That was Celes. My personal favourites: "anxious heart" from FF7 and the boss battle themes from FF7 and 8.
  17. I played 1-6 and they certainly were very good. In fact, the first FF games I played were 1 and 2j. I played the first 10 hours or so of 7 after that and continued to play 3-6. Then finally got my hands on 7 again. Although 6 certainly was very good (one of the best), 7 is still the greatest for me. For me, the decline really started at 10. Good RPG, but not one of the best FF's. For me, it was his theme. That, and the scene when he first appeared (when he was travelling to Figaro castle complaining there was sand on his shoes).
  18. Although most of the environments were still exactly the same, it just felt like a completely different place. Rather than a homecoming to the world I spent 120 hours in, I found some kind of charlie's angels girl-power thing. Like as if in the time of my absence from the world of FFX things really got messed up. It almost felt more like a parody of FFX than a real sequel to me. There wasn't really anything wrong with the mission structure in my opinion, and some of the sidequests were actually quite enjoyable. It was simply the main storyline that made me stop playing it.
  19. Guess I'll have to be the first one to say it here. FF7: ending of CD1. Edit: Although I have to say that the opening movie also made a *very* big impression on me at the time. It instantly hooked me to the game.
  20. Consider yourself lucky. I sometimes wish I simply hadn't tried playing it.
  21. All I'm really hoping for with the SE party is some more footage of the new crystal chronicles and some reassurance that they won't completely mess up this new FF13 series. I've sort of lost some faith in it since they started trying to spread it over as many games as possible.
  22. I can't exactly agree either that 10 simply sucked (spent almost 120 hours on that game), although it was probably one of my least favourite ff games (still a good rpg though). It got better once it opened up a little more and you could actually do a little exploring and some side quests. My main problem with the game, however, was Tidus. I really hated him. He was simply the opposite of what Cloud and Squall were. Sometimes I miss the days of the older 16 bit rpg's: a little less character development and more gameplay sometimes actually is a good thing, especially when you dislike the main character.
  23. The thing is that there doesn't seem to be any noticable difference of quality in vision between both eyes. And neither do they seem to turn away when not used for a little while. At least I haven't been commented on it by anyone so far.
  24. I recently watched Noein. Fantastic series, albeit perhaps a little short.
  25. Don't know if it has a name or not, but I only look with one eye at a time. That is, only one eye handles primary vision, whereas the other sort of extends the peripheral vision a little. The thing is that I can switch between which eye is the primary one and which the secondary one. Sometimes it seems like as if its easier to look with one specific eye, but most of the time I don't have any trouble switching between them.
