One of the most boring games I've ever played. After the first 30 minutes you've seen everything. "Puzzles" are a matter of "find A and bring to B". It's labeled as "action adventure" but there's barely any action. Enemies are easy to defeat (wanna know how many types of enemies there are? Three. Four, if you count the final boss). Story is predictable and the mystery fades very quickly. The characters are annoying. Aesthetics and gameplay are repetitive (you have a glove that could've been used in a lot more ways...just add a grappling hook to it...it would've opened up the game's possibilities so much). It's pretty and the music is atmospheric, but other than that it's garbage. Thankfully it's very short. Finished it in 2 1/2 hours. Wanted to see if it has something to offer in the end, but nah. Can't recommend Image & Form should go back to the SteamWorld series.

I was correct, there wasn't much left It was good fun, but the story was boring as hell. But I guess it served its purpose as a prologue to the other games? Anyways, we started Halo: Combat Evolved immediately afterwards and holy hell, the gameplay is much worse than in Halo: Reach It just feels weird. It's to be expected, though, given that it was released back in 2001. Oh and I just wanna reiterate: The PC Gamepass app (I think it's called Xbox App?) is ass. To quote AVGN: "To describe this game's app's assness, all I can say is, it's very ass." It took us each 3 restarts of the Master Chief Collection and the app to be able to play together. We got the wonderful error messages "one party member is not entitled to play the game", which I think is very rude, and "the game is not installed", which I can assure you it was 'cause we obviously played it before. Same thing happened with Halo: Combat Evolved. We also tried Deep Rock Galactic and it was a mess, as well. We both had similar issues with the app telling us the game is not installed. For a software released two years ago, it sure is still garbage. Anyways, after my spending spree on the PSN store I decided to give all games aside from Blasphemous a quick go. Demon's Tilt - very overwhelming but I enjoy the occasional pinball game so this will be a proper time sink, for sure. First impressions: Interesting/weird take on pinball but seems fun. Descenders - a roguelike extreme downhill freeriding game. Played one "run" and reached a boss level. Yes, you read that right. A boss level in a downhill freeriding game. The objective: "survive the boss jump". I failed. First impressions: Great but probably quite difficult. F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch - metroidvania from China. Played it for 30 minutes, obtained a few abilities and yes...it's a metroidvania game Combat is melee focused, it seems, but very satisfying. There's also been one challenging platforming section already. Hope there will be more. First impressions: Somewhere between good and great.

Welp...I went a little nuts with the new PSN sale F.I.S.T. also has a PS5 version.
-
That looks too good to be true But I'd take Deep Rock Galactic even if it's the only game next month. Have tried it on PC and it's really good.

Yeah, I can see this work.

Finished the Call of Duty: Vanguard campaign. And yeah...it's CoD Not one of the best campaigns but still enjoyable. Started Halo: Reach last night with a friend. I think we're 3/4 through the game. Had a lot of fun so far. I've made it my mission to kill all AI controlled allies with melee attacks. I don't know why, but I find it hilarious. Maybe I'm sweet but a psycho and at night I'm screamin' I'm-ma-ma-ma out my mind. Ava Max, anyone? *cough* My mate and I were surprised to play a mission where you control a space fighter. That was pretty awesome. Gameplay is great in general, but that was expected, to be honest. The story, however...I don't know if it's because I'm not really into Halo and I've only played one campaign before - 800 years ago and I forgot everything about it - but somehow nothing about that story clicks. It's basically just been a succession of missions in a war. "Secure this", "destroy this", "evacuate this". No overarching plot or anything other than "we are at war with the Covenant". Maybe this is much more interesting when you're familiar with the Halo lore but as it is now it's quite boring Still: Lots of fun in co-op. On a side note: The Gamepass PC app is ass. It's slow, installs are confusing (Forza Horizon 5, says hello), it took 3 restarts for the app to understand that I actually have Halo: Reach installed, so just let me play it in the Master Chief Collection...also: No separate language selection for games. The language is based on your system's language. My mate wanted to play the game in English but couldn't because Windows is installed in German. Speaking of Gamepass: I started playing The Gunk after reading that it's supposed to be good. Well, can't wait to reach the point when it starts to be good It's pretty, got an interesting premise but gameplay and setting have become repetitive very quickly.

Looks like the roguelite genre isn't for you then While I can see the point with most of your criticism (and not necessarily agree with it ), I have to disagree with you there. I think the story benefits from the game being of that genre. Glad to see you mostly enjoyed your time with it But sad to see you apparently didn't appreciate the fourth both and the build up to it as much as you should have. Your enthusiasm levels are too low

Unbelievable

While playing Death's Gambit (pretty great Metroidvania-Souls-Like - YES, it's one of those games) I encountered one of the most intense and awesome boss fights ever (spoilers, of course):
-
I really dislike him...incredible player but an arrogant prick on and off the stage. Thanks. As expected, the young talent lost, but he did a respectable job and showed a lot of promise Anderson showed his class and knocked out Lewis. Great match. Paul Lim will play tonight. 67 years old and still playing. Awesome

OH BABY, it's that time of the year. The 2022 PDC World Darts Championship will start in a few hours. Darts will fly, Ally Pally will roar, Dimitri Van den Bergh will dance, Peter Wright will look crazy and there will be 4 - FOUR! - German players taking part. Sadly, one of which will definitely be out of the tournament after Round 1... Tomorrow will be a grand day for Fabian Schmutzler. 16 years old and he gets to play on the big stage at Alexandra Palace. Absolutely crazy. The defending champion, Gerwyn Price, will probably rile up the audience but perform spectacularly once again. One player to watch will definitely be Jonny Clayton. He won 4 televised titles this year and plays on a very high level. If he can bring his A-game, he surely is a favourite for winning it all. Guess who's back? Raymond van Barneveld. Doubt he'll make much of an impact. And will Fallon Sherrock be able to repeat her strong display from the 2021 Grand Slam of Darts? I sure hope so. I'm ready, I can't wait and GOODNESS ME, I love this time of the year. Fuck Christmas, it's time to d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-duel dart (if that's a correct way to phrase this. IT'S TIME TO PLAY DARTS ).

Started playing Children of Zodiarcs a while ago but stopped 'cause scaling issues ruined the game for me. Third game I've stopped playing this year. I did, however, finish Cosmic Star Heroine this morning. Including: Great little JRPG. Highly recommended. Next up: Death's Gambit and the CoD: Vanguard campaign I'll probably start the Halo series with a friend soon, too. He's very busy at the moment but things will calm down for him next weekend. We both got Gamepass PC for cheap and the Master Chief Collection seems like a nice way to give the campaigns a go in coop

I expected no side effects given that I basically never get them after a vaccination. But after my booster shot I felt like crap for a day This is the UK thread, but I'm gonna hijack it for a funny German story. Our government kept pushing the vaccination campaign, wanting to achieve 30 million shots (1st, 2nd and boosters combined) until Christmas. Now the news came out that there aren't enough doses available. I'd laugh if it wasn't so stupid and sad...

That was awesome. Obviously very controversial, but as a neutral viewer who got back to watching F1 this season...incredible final I guess Masi will not return? By the way, wasn't Toto Wolff's "Michael, please no safety car." ridiculous? Safety cars are a thing for a reason and in my opinion it would've been much safer for the marshals. One more thing: How freaking good was Checo's defense Tough but fair driving and an absolute delight to watch Can't wait for next season...might actually start to root for Mick. Really hope Haas got a better car in store for him.

I see. So you were still in the "panic mode" phase whenever something new happens in this game After this boss I got out of it, coincidentally. Literally because during this boss fight I started to subconsciously use all the different little cues Returnal gives you via audio, visuals and haptic feedback. I'll re-post my second boss gif: This is where everything clicked and the game reached an even higher level of awesomeness Not really. Edit: Hope you haven't seen the weapons spoiler, yet. I've mentioned a few guns you may have not encountered, yet. Sorry if I spoiled something for you
-
YES! This is what makes Returnal so great, in my opinion (aside from it being a technical marvel and it having perfect arcadey-gameplay). Mastering Selene's capabilites (or in turn, realizing how good you actually are/can get) is such an incredible feeling. And it's constant right up until you see the end. The game throws new things at you and you slowly but surely (sometimes immediately) get better at dealing with them and it...you said it...feels good. Did you play with headphones on? Did you notice the directional sound cues? Did you notice the directional haptic feedback cues? Did you notice the incredible music? DID YOU NOTICE IT, JULIUS? I love this boss Reading your impressions kinda makes me want to fire this up again and see how I'll fare after a long hiatus. Oh boy, I can't wait to hear about your experience with the next boss.

You need to dash more
-
Never heard of it, but it does look awesome. Right up my alley. After the disastrous feedback I got from my mates when I told them to buy Tribes of Midgard...I doubt I'll get them to play this one with me
-
Agree. It's weird, but who knows...maybe it actually will lead to more sales? I guess it couldn't hurt, given Godfall's...situation
-
Quite the opposite, really. Apparently the campaign is horrible and the endgame is where it's at. Given the game's genre, this doesn't surprise as the endgame is usually the "true game" when it comes to looters. I can understand the decision, since the campaign has been reviewed poorly. However, I'm not too fond of the decision to only include a part of the game. Then again, I'm not particularly interested in Godfall either way. It's a weird decision but probably not a bad one. What's worse: Asia gets Judgement in addition to the other games...

Cool article about what devs think about the DualSense This is so true. I will always remember the second boss fight in Returnal. It swoops in from off screen and you can hear the direction it comes from but you can also feel it. It's like directional hearing with your hands Something I think that needs to be stated more often: The DualSense's features never feel overpowering, they are never the focus of what's happening. They are (a sizable) addition that kind of feel natural. I've said it many times: the DualSense is the next-gen feature and one of the greatest additions to gaming in a long time.

E3 2021: Digital Edition, TGA's 2021 & other 2021 events
drahkon replied to Julius's topic in General Gaming Discussion
I never was. Clearly Returnal is the GOTY, but given its genre, there was no chance for a nomination Good. Can't wait to read your impressions -
And there it is: Spider-Man Miles Morales is now 100% complete 10/10. An absolute marvel. Yes, I'm the first one to make that pun. With some heavy playtime in Super Auto Pets (a cute, casual Auto battler) my game tally is now up to 46 in 2021 (well, 44 'cause I stopped playing two games ).
-
Finished Spider-Man Miles Morales It. Was. Awesome. Just need New Game+ and two miscellaneous trophies for the Platinum and I'll gladly play it again. So much fun from start to finish. Gonna play on Ultimate to get that extra challenge out of NG+.
