  1. Looks like everybody loooooves that bloody treasure chest Just got back home from studying and gonna squeeze in some playtime now before going to bed way too late tonight Think I'm gonna relax a little, explore some areas and probably get owned by some good old Souls shenanigans or an optional boss
  2. Yup, encountered that one, too. That was another "Holy shit!" moment I've actually been using it for combat items for quite a while now. Left and right D-pad are for healing and mana flasks Down for little horsey (yes, it's a combat item for me - some enemies in the wilds are easier to deal with on horseback; sometimes getting away quickly helps, too ) And the Wondrous Physick Flask is on up. Having the healing items quickly available without having to scroll through the equipment slot is a godsend. Usually I'm not one for PvP in the Souls games, but I wanted to try it with Elden Ring especially with how fights in the open world might play out. It was a disaster. I beat my first target but I guess he quickly closed the game as there was a "connection error" right at the final strike. The second and third times I've been ganged up on by the host and two of his summoned friends. Not even a slight chance for me to emerge victorious. Anyways, I've spent 25 hours with the game over the weekend. Pretty sure I've discovered most of Limgrave (north and south), but I'll definitely have to re-visit some areas. Beat another one of the "big" bosses. It was was an annoying fight. Not going to spoil more This is what might make this the best open-world ever for me. It's desolate, yet weirdly packed with places, characters and secrets. There's so much to discover and it's almost always useful. Yes, sometimes you do get "gold tinged excrement" but usually it's much more immediately useful Well, to close this post off, here are two clips. Nothing too spoilery, but the second shows an optional boss (which you can get to early in the game). Adding a dedicated jump button is the best thing about Elden Ring
  3. They appear to be gone forever. By the way: I love this game and if the quality doesn't let up until I've completed it, it will definitely enter my top 3 games of all time!
  4. And a whooping is what he got As usual, I will show you all my prowess, my impeccable skill, my sheer unlimited power (be careful, spoilers - there's a boss in that clip and not the one I gave a whooping - I think this one is not optional - not sure how far into the game - you have been warned): (just in case: The following first spoiler shows the boss' name) Yeah, that was my first try
  5. Currently trying to get my stats high enough to equip the Uchigatana and make my character a bit more viable in close quarter combat. Gonna take some time, though. Enemies really don't give a lot of runes Just ventured south from Limgrave and discovered a whole new area to explore. This game is amazing. Edit: Uchigatana equipped. Now back to that assface and give him a whooping!
  6. Is it He's been kicking my ass. Sorcery is likely not the best idea against him. Oh, by the way...have you encountered a certain chest in a certain basement plagued by rats?
  7. Ah, makes sense. I never even look at the monthly prices. Thanks for the info.
  8. So...@Julius Are you loving this game as much as I do? It's incredible. Heh, I've checked your spoiler and I pretty much had the same reaction. However... I'm 6 hours in and I haven't been this absorbed into a gaming world since...H:FW Managed to uncover a few areas, ventured into the east, picked up a pretty neat staff, encountered a certain enemy type and noped back to the west. I've done a whole lot of optional stuff (like dungeons), I guess, but I also somehow managed to actually make some progress. Rocking a sorcery build right now. Occasionally I switch to melee. Some monsters are pretty resistant against magic.
  9. For all of you nerds who are playing this on PS consoles, use this "group password": N-Elden (I think it's case sensitive) If I understand correctly, this makes sure that messages/summon signs/etc. are shown primarily from those who also use this password. You can have more than one group password active.
  10. Nope, not reading your spoilers @Julius I'm done with most of my real life responsibilities for today. Just one more hour and then I can dive into the world of Elden Ring. I did already create a character and completed the tutorial area earlier. Thankfully I haven't played much of the network test, so most of the starting area will be completely new to me. Lots of playtime tonight, not so much over the weekend But maybe caffeine-filled nights might be the solution
  11. The big problem for us as consumers will be: Eventually, the price will increase. And quite drastically. We're seeing this with DAZN in German. It's still14.99€ per month which is a pretty good price for what they're offering but it'll be increased to 29.99€ which is double and there won't be anything new to justify that price hike. I've been wary of saying this, especially here, but you're right. In my opinion Microsoft is the cause for all this and it's annoying. They have the spending power and appear to stop at nothing to create a monopoly. In turn forcing others to spend big money for acquisitions themselves.
  12. Gonna go to a local store later...see if I might be able to pick up a copy. I kind of hope not, because that will make my real life responsibilities harder to work through. Part of me wants this game, though, because I need it in my life
  13. Urgh, annoying. Really hope "essential" doesn't replace PS+ as it is now. It would make it more expensive if I'm reading this right. Fuck subscription models. The industry is going to a place I don't like. As a kid I always said: "When I'm old, I'll still play video games", but it seems like it's getting less and less likely
  14. Woke up to a text message from a member of a group chat with several Ukrainians and people from the town where I live. She said she got woken up by sirens and explosions. She's living in Eastern Ukraine and is in the middle of the war. I've always had the "privilege" to only read about wars and not experience them myself and I still do. But it's something else when you know a person who is affected by war right now. A few years ago I've attended workshops with her about pan-European relationships, about mental health, about public speaking. I partied with her and her friends. We cooked meals together. We celebrated German carnival. We enjoyed life. And now she's sitting in a bunker. Waiting for...something. And there's no telling what that something will be. It's easy to say that I feel helpless. And I really do. But this is nothing compared to what Ukrainians are experiencing now. I just hope that the people I know in that group will be able to write happy messages soon.
  15. Not perfect but an amazing achievement nonetheless. A few glitches/bugs, some things that could do with QoL improvements (like picking up materials) and janky platforming (that was very annoying at times) take away that one point, leaving it at a 9/10 for me. Still...I've had so much fun with H:FW that it ranks as one of the best games I've ever played. If an open-world game with as many side activities as there are here can make me focus on the story for the majority of my playtime...you did a lot of things right with the writing. I loved the story but I wish a certain "tribe" was more prominent and not left for the last few missions. But there's potential for DLC and/or a sequel which I hope will expand on that. The side-missions come close to the quality that has been set by The Witcher 3. It's easily the biggest improvement from H:ZD. Gameplay is top-notch. Fighting machines is better than ever. Stealth + traps, full on attack or a mix of both. Choose your poison. It's all viable. Dealing with human enemies has improved, as well. I think I don't have to say much regarding graphics...everybody who said that this being cross-gen will hold the technical side back was wrong. Plain and simple. Music and sounds are also awesome. Decided to leave the Platinum for when the DLC arrives (I'm sure there will be one). I'll most likely play through the entire game again and go for 100% completion (or Platinum completion) eventually
  16. Sold my copy of GoT:DC for 50 bucks and ordered the PS5 version of Elden Ring for 66€. I won't go digital only for as long as I can because of this! Amazon.de says it'll arrive sometime between 5th and 15th March, which is weird...not a big deal if it'll be dispatched during that time frame, as I don't have a lot of time to play, anyways I'll probably be able to finish H:FW tonight, so I'll have that out of the way and will be able to focus on the GOTY 2022 as soon as it's here
  17. Lol. The game reviews ridiculously well and people say it's reviewer friendly? Way to downplay the devs' achievements...
  18. Great month. Always wanted to play Ghostrunner on the PS5 after I've tried it at my sister's boyfriend's place. It was a lot of fun on his Xbox so I figured I'd get it myself eventually. Glad I waited Ghost of Tsushima Legends is awesome. Haven't tried it (I own the GoT:DC) but now my friends get access to it and we'll definitely give it a go in coop.
  19. Is this a Persona/Shin whatever game? What is this? Do I need to know about Soul Hackers 1? WHAT IS THIS?
  20. Almost 22 hours of playtime now. Think I've reached the final mission and...big gameplay spoilers coming up: Anyways. Have I mentioned that the game is gorgeous? Bonus: Praise the sun!
  21. Yup. It's why I've been doing some more main quests for two hours now. Want to unlock all of that so I can explore every nook and cranny Mostly Warrior and Survivor. I'm playing pretty aggressively and the increased damage and healing help a lot.
  22. That didn't work. Got sucked into the main quest again. The story is ramping up and I wanted to see where it goes. Very intriguing. After a few main quests I was able to unlock a certain side activity: Some weapons and armors are available as rewards, so naturally I tried to get at least one of those. Took me a while, 'cause the challenges are quite tough. But I did get one awesome weapon Haven't tried it in the field, yet, but given its rarity it might be way too strong for where I'm at. Just the way I like it I wish picking up materials was as instant as it is in Ghost of Tsushima. The animations in H:FW can be a little annoying if you decide to gather lots of materials quickly. Have also encountered a few visual glitches, mostly while climbing stuff. But these are the only annoyances so far in 15 hours. It's a very polished game and a joy to play
  23. I KNEW IT, I knew that I heard Nothing But Thieves in that SoP. They always deliver.
