Ah, now that would be telling. Some of those, though, for sure. :p

£310...ouch. I thought I'd come off rather lightly, but one of the things I've done is apparently very 'bad'.

That has to be the first time you've provided a good reason for our different views rather than just calling me names. I say: good job! My dad actually was a fireman for a short time in the past. I can imagine him passing the fitness test as he does play squash an awful lot. I should ask him again what made him quit, lol.

FFXII didn't really have much freedom...you still had to get to point X on the map (usually the end room of the dungeon) in order to the defeat the boss and progress with the story. It just so happened that the maps tended to have more branches and side areas...but this often amounted to great annoyance. What X lacked in freedom, it more than made up in charm and characters. And let's face it, that's what undoubtedly has defined previous FF games... Auron was an awesome, awesome character, as were some of the others. They were at least fleshed out (e.g. Wakka, Tidus, Yuna), and Seymour was also pretty interesting. XII...the characters were pretty bland and there wasn't much game time dedicated to their personalities/stories. It had decent gameplay, but it felt nothing like a Final Fantasy.
-
At least if it's more story focussed it'll be more interesting than XII. That game really was like strolling around a ghost town with a soulless cast of characters.

I'll remember the awesome line "Absurdity in its ideal form". Classic. Extra laughs for Bard criticising people for fuelling their egos. Irony overload.

I'm happy that you're burning in the face.

Do you ever read back to yourself some of the convoluted bullshit that you type?

Yeah, he was the most negative, pessimistic member on the forums and would try and argue about anything. He'd boast about stupid things that just made him come across as a complete asshole. Me and Moogle were the ones who had an epic argument with him that ended up with him getting banned. Good times. Then, after being banned, he went out of his way to signup again impersonating Moogle to send me this message: lol. A troubled man.

Don't they usually try put in PC achievements in these sorts of games now? Although I can run my PC through my TV, there's just something about the console versions of games (e.g. Dragon Age) that is more appealing to me. Unless it's an FPS, I tend to find keyboard controls (e.g. number 1-10 as shortcuts) a bit cumbersome, and I get easily distracted by messengers and whatnot. I will say that some games run much, much better on PC, though (Oblivion has jaggy edges around nearly everything on both the PS3 and 360 versions).
-
This game has kept me coming back for more; it really is quite excellent. I wish Oblivion had used a similar battle system to this, as it had quite a poor one (fatigue, fairly rubbishy spells, equipment breaking). It also seems a lot more tidy in the design of dungeons (fairly non-linear, for a start), and equipment not deteriorating over time and a more developed story make the bulk of the gameplay far more enjoyable. It might not have the exploration of Oblivion (scope, ability to go in all houses) but the rest makes up for that. I particularly like that there's often a number of dialogue options to choose from, and that it isn't always obvious what the consequences will be. I guess it's a far cry from Fable, where you'd usually have a couple of options which were clearly defined 'good' and 'bad'. That wasn't such a great game, though. I think here they've done well to capture a lot of the good things from Baldur's Gate in this game. It's a shame the console versions don't have the overhead view, though, and I think they could have made the pickpocket tool more useful (it doesn't even tell you what you stole, unless it's money).

Well to be fair, it'll probably just sit on your shelf indefinitely anyway after a while.

I've barely been in Uni this week due to snow...and apparently there's heavy snow showers due for 3AM tomorrow morning. Ohh... it was so cold walking back today. Apparently last night temperatures reached -16 nearby which is insane. The snow is so deep here in Manchester - I've never seen anything like it!

Newer games still all heavily rely on old mechanics so you're bound to get a little bored. There's only so many times you can race a car/pick up a handgun etc. Sure gaming is evolving, but it'll probably never have the same effect on someone compared to when they first started gaming.
-
I feel the same...I guess that's just growing up. I don't warm to new games these days like I did to ones in the past, and I find myself only getting a lot of enjoyment from old games that I used to love when I was younger. For instance, I've gone through stints of playing Ragnarok Online and Phantasy Star Online Blue Burst - if I'd never played these games before I've no doubt I'd enjoy them in this day and age. You can really only repeat the same sorts of themes and gameplay so many times until it just doesn't have much effect anymore.

To be fair, I've seen a lot of these coats and this is one of the nicer looking ones.

Rate The Last TV Show You Saw (Spoiler Tags for Recent US Shows!)

I'll always remember that program with Gillian McKeith...and her standing over Michelle McManus's turd and stating: "that's toxic!". Well, yes, such waste generally is, hence why our body removes it. She was also posing as a Dr., and when push came to shove she could't provide a copy of her thesis and was forced to stop using the title, lol.- 3920 replies

Today (well, yesterday) has probably been one of the best days of all time. My girlfriend woke me up (;D) at 8 today, and I noticed the MASSIVE SNOWSTORM. We shirked on the prospect of going into labs for an hour or two as we believed most people wouldn't have managed to get there (less than 10 min walk for us, though). I then checked my uni e-mail to find that a) our supervisors were unable to come in due to their failed car (they're married) and lack of transport connections, and b) students were advised to leave for home before lunch. We therefore spent the day doing things that I won't go into detail much about, but I'll say that when it approaches the fourth time before afternoon then you know it's an awesome day. To top it all off, she set up her chocolate fountain that I bought her for Christmas and threw the 900g of chocolate on, and we spent ages dipping in toasted Tesco Finest waffles and strawberries in.. Yahoo! Super day is super. Edit: Just got an e-mail saying the university is closed today (6th). Wrryyy!

Hmm. Over time she'll probably die down in terms of acting clingy; it sounds to me like she's a little infatuated with you at the moment. I think stressing over her looks is a bit silly, as it's far more important you get on with her. If I were you, I'd just double check that she isn't just interested in short term or a bit of fun, as she does come across as a little eager to meet you. All in all, give her a chance. If she doesn't turn out to be all that great, then you can at least say you tried. Good luck!

Random Question: Ganondorf or Mace Windu?
Sheikah replied to Falcon_BlizZACK's topic in General Chit Chat
As far as I can remember, the seven sages trap him in the sacred realm and he still has the triforce of power. -
How do people know all this stuff about film resolution...seriously. It's unholy. You should all set up a brand of some sort.
-
I think that has something to do with either not living in Sheffield or not finding everything ReZ does funny. :p But yeah, I know what you mean. There's a few people on here I like, others who I just enjoy exchanging posts with, and then some that I just don't like. It's usually the outspoken/egotistical ones that annoy me.

Random Question: Ganondorf or Mace Windu?
Sheikah replied to Falcon_BlizZACK's topic in General Chit Chat
Buuuut...none of it ever happened. :p Ganondorf, though, definitely. Mace Windu hardly seemed all that important, but then again I'm not much of a SW fan, having seen most of the films only once. I feel less strongly about Ganondorf's character with each of his subsequent occurrences. I think villains should eventually just be killed rather than constantly 'sealed away'. Seems a bit silly.
