Embrassingly, it was kind of the opposite for me...being so used to video games, driving almost seemed an extension of that aspect. I remember partially drifting off in terms of concentration towards the end of lessons. Thankfully I still passed first time.

Heard very good things and didn't know when/if it was coming here, so paid 40 quid for an import copy. It's meant to be very difficult...

It's quite a good game, and the battle system is ace. For me it was like Tales battle systems but much better than most of the Tales games (except Symphonia). The story is a bit convoluted but otherwise it's fun to play. I got it for a tenner new, and it was easily worth it. Completed it twice.

Meh; it's in HD, earlier and means you don't have to shell out on a subscription to pay a wank company for at most a few shows you actually want to watch, so it's good in my books.

Haha, I had some pet mice and they leave almost a constant trail of urine, pretty gross really (although cute). You would definitely not want one running around your house...plus they chew.

random post, but is the person on the right Haggis? (I was pretty sure) Just noticed an old friend of mine is going out with the girl on the right, and her profile had that picture on it. Quite random. :p

A Tale of drowned puppies and the coming of Armageddon

Oh I don't know. If you had a trophy and someone took it away from you, would you say that's a reward? :p -

Which is pretty silly, since you've basically completed the game but it's telling you you actually didn't. I may not want to go back to Resi 5 when DLC hits as I'd be bored of it/no longer interested, but this doesn't mean I should be punished for that. Which is why I agree with the platinum being awarded for completing the actual game and not add on chapters. -

It says just the number of G next to your game in the 'compare' section, as far as I can remember - maybe if you click the game it'll give you what it's out of, but otherwise you could have 1000G out of 1250 despite having only gotten the easiest achievements, and at a glance it'll look like you've fully completed the main content. The alternative to giving away the platinum for getting all trophies in the regular game is to only give it away for getting all trophies including DLC trophies...which would cause outrage for having to pay extra just to get the platinum trophy. Plus, say you complete a game fully, then 5 months later they release DLC. You'd have your platinum trophy stripped from you if that were the case, which is ridiculous. DLC tends to be on the easy side, and I'd rather people be tempted to buy DLC because they enjoy the game rather than for additional merit they can get for completing it. The extra 1 gold and couple of silvers people may get on PS3 means you're unlikely to buy DLC for trophies. As for stealing...when Microsoft first came out with the original Xbox they must have stolen just about everything they could from everyone else. Not that it matters, as everyone steals everything these days. -

I am talking about the list people usually look at when comparing gamerpoints - it states the number of G next to a game, which could easily be 1,000 for Oblivion while having the easiest points out of 1,200/1,250 (or whatever the maximum is). There's few games like that. I'd say probably less than 5% of the total amount of 360 equivalents. There's tens, possibly hundreds of games like that on the 360. Most of the time when people have platinums they are in games requiring some skill, as the 'easy platinum' games really aren't that numerous to bother finding. -

Not exactly true. Some games you may have expansions for, thus total points available for a game are above 1,000. The basic overview only shows you the number of points you have for an individual game, so you may have the easiest 1,000 points on Oblivion, for example. And most people can never be bothered to click that game and laboriously scroll to the bottom to see if there's any unlocked achievements. There's no real reward to getting that last difficult 20 points, for instance. You could get the same value of points by slapping Avatar in the dic tray. Furthermore, no one can be arsed going through everyone's achievement list to check their individual game scores. Trophies are an easy way to quantify people who have fully completed their games. And completing a load of DLC content doesn't count towards unlocking the platinum, either. I've seen people with gamerscores over 100,000 points, which on closer inspection had fully completed few difficult games and had mostly played lots of games, and shit games known for giving good gamerpoints. Contrast this to the PS3, where people with lots of platinums and golds actually have spent a lot of time and effort. Gamerscore is easily abusable and not as good a system. But considering trophies came after, you'd be a bit worried if Sony hadn't managed to improve upon it in any way. -

You can use the 360 controller on PC (there's an official '360 controller for PC' released by MS). What are all these great 360 marketplace games? The best I've found is Castle Crashers (which I believe is now on PSN) and Banjo Kazooie, which they just took from Nintendo and prettied up a little. But yeah, a lot of PC games look miles better than 360 versions (dependent on system though) and seem to run much smoother. I remember Oblivion being so much crisper and having no jaggies on PC, and the menu didn't slow down after your inventory got full either. -

Then you're not really missing too much, to be honest. Fable II was an average game. Most people who liked the original BK games hated N&B...and it was pretty terrible. It was like driving on ice, and nothing like the original BK we all loved. It may as well have had two new random characters. What 360 games you do get on the PC are usually a hell of a lot better than the console version, which I'd say more than makes up for the few games not ported. I'd go as far to say that the online side of PS3 now is actually better than 360, and this is from someone who has had the PS3 since launch and a 360 for a number of years, both always online. Why? Just a few trivial things, because that is really all that separates them. So the defining things - some good PS3 games actually use dedicated servers, which is surprising considering you don't pay a thing. And on top of that, I'd say the PSN store has better games (original fun games such as Fat Princess, full PS3 games such as BP, Warhawk and whatnot, PS1 games like FFVII, and soon to be FFVIII - games consistently rated as the best of all time). And the store actually uses a coherent currency rather than points. About the only thing I can think you can do on the 360 online and not the PS3 is communicate with someone who you're not playing online with while in different games. Which is about as used as a chocolate teapot, if we're honest. Voice chat comes into its own when you're playing together, otherwise it's just like a bleeding phone call. Except with someone who is currently playing a video game and probably giving you about 1/8th of their concentration. -

It's true that world maps were more or less there to trick you into thinking there was more exploration to the game than there really was (usually you could only go to one place at a time anyway), but they were still fun. And sometimes sidequest areas would be placed around on the map and you'd have to find them.

X considered to be game of the decade (recent GameFAQs poll), also came across as Japan's favourite game of all time, and VIII currently the best selling PSN game AFIK on the US Store. Not my views, but clear evidence that a lot of people like the previous games they were behind a lot, even if you didn't.

Yeah, but with PS3 it's £0 for 5 years gaming. Or however many years, etc. I'm just pointing out that it's a serious total saving with the PS3 that many people seem hasty to forget, particularly when they point to the 360 as being "cheaper" (evidently not true in most cases). I have both consoles and I can say that I've actually had no problems on either online service, and that's with a hell of a lot of play. -

Just going to stop you there because that's definitely spin, and it's something I see a lot. Reducing the total amount into bitesize chunks does indeed make it sound low cost. But in reality, I could just as easily go the other way and say that it's £150 if you plan to play the 360 online for a 5 year period (or have been paying since it started - likely more as Gold codes never used to be so cheap). And that's a real £150 you could have spent on other things in all honesty. Hell, I could make a thousand pounds seem like nothing if I stated it was just "£1 a day for three years." The 360 is cheap, but you don't get a lot. You pay a reasonable amount more for the PS3, but get a whole lot more. -
Probably Silver purely because it seems like the Blue variant. And it has a Santa Claus penguin-esque type thing.

Yeah. Some men may think they are really women because they act/feel more like women, but this is just going by stereotypes of what we expect women to act/feel like. Thus, there is no real argument to 'I'm a woman in a man's body' unless you single handedly stereotype what every woman is. Someone may feel more comfortable to live their life as a woman, though. On top of that there are much higher levels of testosterone circulating throughout men, as well as differences in brain structure, so everyone is in some way biased towards their gender in terms of how they act and feel, and would undoubtedly act differently were they actually the other gender.

A Tale of drowned puppies and the coming of Armageddon
Sheikah replied to Pancake's topic in Other Consoles
Well that depends if you want online or not; judging by the fact many people these days seem to be getting MW2/other FPS games (probably in part for online) that would set you back from the word go, and you'd save money every additional year if you went for PS3. As for pricing, I find that Shopto is consistently selling a lot of good PS3 games for cheap and most of the time when multiformat titles are released they're usually the same price on both. -
This has made my day. I had every edition! I even did a talk at primary school using these magazines.
