no har-har-har-har-har-har-har-har?

Thanks. Let's... discuss how awesome this game will surely be. So, my PS4 arrives tomorrow... first things I should do?
-
I think X was a massive step for Final Fantasy in terms of modernising it. Basically, IX was wonderful in so many ways (and ultimately I do prefer it) but FFX feels like a game that could be even made today. The level up system is immensely customisable and awesome (arguable my favourite ever in an RPG), the number and quality of sidequests feel epic, the 'humanising' of the characters by giving them voice actors and the close panning in on character interaction cutscenes made me feel more a part of the actual world... Basically, I loved it. I never felt it was particularly slow, since tons was always happening. Characters interact in an endearing way and the story is overall engaging, to the extent that you actually give a fuck (unlike XII, where the characters rarely seemed to interact and the story was pretty bland). Give it another chance. For just shy of £20 for both games it's an utter bargain.

To be fair, if he sells them at £40 then he's not ripping anyone off, since that's what they're actually worth. The saving passes on to him since he got them cheaper than they should be.
-
That's not true. He can make a nice profit, then buy himself something nice.

AWESOME! I was going to suggest this to you, but wasn't sure if you were that into JRPGs. Definitely start with X, since X-2 spoils what happens in X. Man, I would love to play this game for the first time again. Such great memories...hard to believe that was 12 years ago. You had to dodge lightning consecutively something like 200 times to get a sigil for making Lulu's ultimate weapon. Dude, for the lazy, there is always Yojimbo. One hit...KO

You don't need to answer to him @Wii. I would rather you had 4 copies than him even having 1. :p There's money to be made, so who gives a fuck? If you want to buy a few extra copies and turn £40-50 profit each for doing sod all work then that's your prerogative. It's got absolutely nothing to do with him.

General Gaming Sales/Charts Discussion

Yeah, it was more the 'why on Earth would you buy in anticipation?' stance that threw me. It seems like a pretty normal thing to me to buy a console not based on launch fodder but on what's coming. Also I thought Knack bundled with the console still counted as a sale. -
Man, this is a game that should be platinumed. :p Its very nature is one that must be fully completed. A completitionist's dream. Fucking Thunder Plains jumping though.

This arrived earlier today...but I still have Dark Souls II and the PS4 and Infamous comes tomorrow...

Who cares? Launch games are usually crap. You don't buy a console just for the launch games. Wii U certainly had nothing amazing in its launch either. When did you buy your Wii U, out of interest? That's only because you have consciously ignored the other consoles. By your own confession, you have picked up remakes of games that have been out for a while on other systems. And if you liked those games, you'd have liked more on the others systems too. You know, it's a good idea to broaden your horizons and try something new once in a while. -
Heh, I did something silly. There was one brown chest that killed me when I opened it in the forest zone. So I resorted to smashing that same chest next time, which meant it didn't kill me and I got what was inside. Inside it was 'rubbish'. Normal, I thought - you wouldn't setup a chest trap and put something good inside. So the next couple of wooden chests I came across I didn't fancy dying, so destroyed them too. Rubbish inside. A lot of these traps, I thought. I later found out they had stuff inside and it turns to rubbish if you destroy it. I missed out on a HP regen ring. Needless to say, was not impressed.

You're kidding, right? You have had a Wii U for a while; I'm sure you know exactly how it feels. Also saying 'nobody buys anything in anticipation' is pretty silly. People who plan ahead and don't just live solely in the moment do, which seems to be pretty much most people apart from you. -
@The Bard No it's open to anyone, 15 of us from neighbouring laboratories all went. Here's the site! http://hinthunt.co.uk It really was like being in the crystal maze. So much fun.

I remember the days in Demon's Souls when me and @dwarf gourami were teaming up and fighting invaders. Remember that guy who could do a soul suck from behind and 1HKO us? My tactic was to stay in critical health, equip the motion blade off hand and the clever rat ring with the Meat Cleaver and Second Chance active. Damn, how do I still remember this? Probably because it was awesome.

If the online is like MK Wii it'll be excellent. Damn, I sunk so many hours into that game.

Yet another 'find me a (cheap) laptop' thread!

If you can cast the screen, why do we need to wait for iPlayer/4oD etc to be compatible? Can't you just cast the 4oD stream playing on your laptop? -

A large part must be Soul Sacrifice. Everyone has the other systems that have better selling games. -

Those upgrading and playing FFXIV on their PS4s won't register as game sales in most cases - if you had a PS3 copy, you get a free upgrade code. There's also Plus content that gives you games too, and they won't register as game sales. As well as that, they might be buying it ahead of the games that are scheduled to release. The PS4 has been priced well so most people know it's not likely to get much cheaper soon so are taking the plunge now. Yeah I'm surprised. What is selling it at the moment? Could it be a culmination of Soul Sacrifice Delta and FFX game sales? I know the latter has always been very highly regarded as one of their favourite games by the Japanese. -
Today I went to this thing called Hint Hunt right next to Euston station in London... it was brilliant! Basically teams of 5 go into a room and are locked in. You have to solve the murder of someone while figuring out puzzles and revealing secrets by investigating various 'ordinary' looking objects through the room. You only have 1 hour to get out or you fail. It's basically a bit like the Crystal Maze but more elaborate and with far more puzzles crammed into the room. Can't recommend it enough, in the end we got out with 6 seconds to spare (more than half of the people apparently fail).

Ooh, dibs on his seismometer!

Ventured into the game last night. I have to say, for nearly the same price the black armour edition is really nice. Also ShopTo threw in an iPhone case which I don't need, but it's free... Was surprised at how relatively obscured the level up person and estus flask was, having to talk multiple times. Can imagine people not doing that. Generally loving getting back Souls, will be investing a good deal of time into this. I want some bleeding pyromancy!
-
Attunement can be good to get more spells/pyromancy. Loading my game up now so not sure if pyromancy still kicks major ass yet.
-
It was really hard for melee users too, since you could just run around while unleashing pyromancy on the other guy from a reasonable difference. It was pretty hard to hit people (as opposed to enemies) consistently without targeting.
