I don't think the N64 library was that small at all; Serebii's list focuses on a very niche set of rules (Nintendo not even making the games or even doing much at all counting for the most recent list). I also meant in my post 'any IP' (not just Nintendo). Finally, I think it's not just numbers but also quality. Pokemon, Zelda OoT (I am counting this on account of how much new it did), Smash and Banjo Kazooie. Hell yeah. You can't deny how amazing they were back then given how quite a few of these games form the basis of the many conserved sequels which have now come our way. Also while not every game will be a blockbuster, often the ones that have considerable talent/funds behind them have a chance of being truly special. Xenoblade and Mario Galaxy didn't happen by chance, they had such incredible backing. What I meant was, I'd like to see more of that might thrown at new characters/games (like Xenoblade), even by Nintendo themself. And by that, yeah, I mean not Pullblox. People do indeed pay more attention to sequels but that's understandable, really. They know it's a sequel to a game they enjoyed, whereas an unknown game may not be amazing (realistically, most games aren't). But developers play to this in order for a safe income. Ultimately they've got go risk it for a biscuit. Carry on channelling most of your funds and talent into sequels for safe profit, or try make some amazing new games that may fail or may breathe much needed life into the brand.

I think they chuck all their money and people at their sequels though. If you look at most of their new IP, most of it ain't Xenoblades. Pullblox? Ca'maan. Let's see a new character with a new kind of awesome game.

Well if he has, that'd explain things.

I've also been getting tickets for random things too recently (like Elder Scrolls Beta invites) so seems like it could just be a new thing.
-
I got it too. Could be a new thing they are doing? I remember a while back when people got pissed off that their PS4s were charged for super early. Maybe this is an auto thing now so customers are always in the know?

Right, fair enough. I must confess, when I saw your initial list I just assumed those were the new IPs of the generation (affiliation aside), because a lot of them weren't actually made by Nintendo. Not that it means much now, but the saddening bit that I was referring to before was all the new stuff I remember on the N64, not just Nintendo's published/made stuff.

@Serebii your list is missing Rare games. Where is Banjo Kazooie? Also I would say for the N64, while some characters/settings are reused, they are so far removed from previous titles that they could almost stand alone.
-
So are you going to categorise them by console? 2006 to now crosses generations.
-
While I can't fault the effort you've put into sourcing that, it makes me very sad that if you were to do a similar thing over the Cube or N64 periods, the list would be perhaps a million times more appetising.

If they were doing a tablet, I'd be saying exactly the same thing. They would be destroyed by the competition which has had years of a head start and produce cheap tablets through subsidisation - getting people to sign up to Google/Amazon services. I reckon they could quite easily put together a Mario runner.

See, to me, saying you have lots of success on dating sites actually generates totally the opposite image of a good dater. Call me old fashioned, but if you're going through a fair number of dates then it suggests you might not be relationship material, or picking the wrong girls (or maybe the right ones for you). Perhaps you're getting a shag, but then you seem to be outwardly gearing yourself to that (particularly with somewhat derogatory chauvinistic terms like 'bird'). Which, if that's what you want, is totally fine. But to try to give relationship advice when your primary objective seems to be 'to lie in bed with an attractive bird' just seems a bit silly. We're a sensitive lot and I'm sure most people here are looking for a nice relationship as opposed to just a lay. Also, I disagree with not posting your quirks (aside from super embarassing ones). There has been a dramatic rise in people proud of their alternate interests. Embrace them.

So you're saying you need imagination to see it become a reality? :p In the same way one would need imagination to converse with a unicorn, or see pigs flying.

To be fair, it is a huge AAA title, and would otherwise have been number 1 if not for Titanfall. It's not their fault one of the most hotly anticipated/marketed games of all times released in the same week. :p -
I have to be in to accept delivery of my PS4. Oh, the humanity.

Whatever you call it, I call it a total waste of time. It will be dead in the water.

To be honest, I don't really know or care what the jargon relating to their fitness plans is. I just think it's not the sort of thing they need to focus on.

@Dcubed But how many more people can you attract with this sort of game and on a last gen format? It is marketed quite rightly as 'you will die lots in this hard game', so is probably seen as offputting to your casual gamer. And a lot of the core probably already bought Dark Souls 1 on account of how critically acclaimed it was. I think going up 20% is pretty good for this kind of game. Anyone know any actual figures? -

Is it? 20% up on a 'more of the same' kind of game on dying formats seems pretty good to me. They've already had Demon's Souls and Dark Souls 1 to find additional fans. Once you reach your audience limit you can't go much higher! Plus some people are also pussies and will never try this game. -
Aside from not knowing how the product works, I think he's bang on about the Vitality sensor being a bad decision. These days most people want fitness trackers that hook up to their smartphone; I don't see this really doing much to boost sales or help with the Wii U take off. People don't want a separate device they have to pay a lot for. Regarding the mobile thing and how many apps fail - that's your average app, made from the ground up. This is an already extremely successful franchise that people love. Of course Mario on mobile would sell like hotcakes.

Did Titanfall beat Dark Souls II's PS3 plus 360 combined sales? Impressive.
