  1. I'm not going to deal with it. I'm just going to write you off as someone who doesn't really know what they're talking about, because it shows. If you don't give the meat of the game a good go, ie. the raids and PvP modes, that's 70-80% of the real game you never even touched, so don't take offense when people don't exactly take you seriously. It would be like if I judged Smash Brothers by one or two single player only modes and came away thinking it was an uninspired, boring bag of wank. You can make the argument that it takes time to access the raids, sure (L27+, generally), and that could form part of your cons list that I can tell you want to expand upon, but to damn the game you didn't really properly play so generally...when you don't have a rounded opinion of it, just doesn't really make sense. This also isn't about whether your PS4 comments are valid or not. The point was that you were telling people this wasn't the place to bring up PS4 discussion... right after bringing up the PS4 in a completely unprovoked way. I'm not sure if you noticed you were doing it, actually! The comparisons aren't 1:1 though; the human eye can only resolve resolution up to a certain point, for example. I'm not saying we're there yet, but beyond a certain point it's minimal returns. At some stage, while we're going to be able to see advances between systems, games from the previous generation will have sufficient definition/realism to still remain rather good looking. We saw how dated PS1 style graphics were after advancing a single generation. Right now, the last generation's graphics don't seem anywhere near as outdated following the generation jump as they did back then. Graphics are generally getting to the point where we notice less and less any major blemishes in previous generation games after advancing to the next systems (e.g. massive, blocky hands in FF7). Improving power has a lot to do with game design as well as graphics, which is why it's certainly something worth improving. That said, it's not like in 5 years we'll look at 1080P Witcher 3 and think it looks like shit, like we might have done with a blocky PS1 game. Witcher 3 looks great as it is; I don't think improvements in graphics will suddenly change our opinion of that, purely because 3D graphics on the system have matured to a point that they can look pretty realistic, or even artistic on their own merits. Another example would be 1080P Journey, just re-released on PS4. I can't imagine in even 20 years time people will look at that and think it looks crap. You can just tell that it looks pretty sweet by itself, without having to benchmark it to whatever else we know is out at the time.
  2. I didn't seem to get mentioned before either. Not really sure why people tried to lynch me - I've been honest with everyone here what I've done every single night. I tried to push DuD's lynch because he was caught twice targeting the guy who died and I had a readout that said Diageo targeted who he said he did which put DuD in the spotlight again (looking back, it now looks like Diageo did target DuD rather than my evidence being forged, making DuD untargetable as 2 people could not reach DuD that night; nobody else came forward to say they made that happen). I pushed hard for the lynch because I believed it, straight up confessing to roleblocking him one night too. Hardly subtle or tactful. My first night's ability was also to report to the town in the writeup what somebody did that night, and that info got confirmed. Bit of a shit power for Mafia to wield to say the least. @Dannyboy\-the\-Dane I hope you at least can stop things getting out of hand should they start going down this shitty path again. @Cube I may have missed the part where you explained your power (or forgot) - does this mean you targeted Sprout?
  3. Level design and mechanics are top notch. These are the guys who made Halo and it shows; the gameplay has a real sense of weight to it and they clearly put a lot of effort into making weapons feel good (unlike something like Borderlands where there is a lot of random generation going on with their weapons). If you'd have come complaining about story or running out of things to do after a while I'd agree with you, but in terms of gameplay it's top tier for a console FPS. There's a reason why people are still playing the PvP activities long after they've got most the things they want. It's just good fun! Regarding the PS4 thing, I don't think it was really necessary at all, and it isn't the first time I've seen you do it here. (Yes, I realise this may seem ironic given I am talking at length about an FPS game that appears on other consoles, but being an avid fan of this game I'm going to call someone out if they start with the generalisations)
  4. I don't recall you joining in a forum raid or large social activity (such as PvP) once. It's no surprise you walked away thinking that! As is common with these kinds of games, you get out what you put in. Us sociable fellows have a great laugh. Also regarding you saying 'not here to talk PS4'...you pretty much just brought the PS4 up again for no reason. Not the first time, either.
  5. 'Mediocre'. Right. I'm guessing you call it that because you heard other people say that and it's 'cool' to nod along. Yet again, talking about games you haven't played like you are an expert. I honestly have no clue how Wii can be banned while you continue to troll these boards. I've played 550 hours of Destiny since it was released September last year. Since then I have spent countless hours in raids and got to know several people on this forum who I knew nothing about before. Going on raids has been such a fun experience, like something I've never really had in a game before. More recently, and near enough every weekend, I team up with people on here to play Trials of Osiris (PvP) which is great fun (and infuriating when you get rinsed, bit that's another matter ). Sorry, but this is no mediocre game. Call out its flaws all you want, but this underneath it all a pretty great game in its own way.
  6. 100% agree with you on this. I got maybe 6 hours into the first one a while ago and haven't gone back. Seems an incredibly overrated game to me. Man, I felt the same way too. Totes agree on the story. Complete cobblers, and it really hurts it.
  7. Does this mean people think the NX is going to compete on power now? I thought many thought that was out of the question? Or at least for half the gen.
  8. Yeah, it's a little worrying. I touched on this in the now closed topic but if you remember the Ni No Kuni situation (which seems pretty close to this one), the DS version never got a release over here, only the PS3 version. That was also with a much more popular system that wasn't at the end of its life. Granted, DQ is a bigger name and DQIX came out over here, but it may not be guaranteed given the lower popularity of DQ over here. I'd like it to come out on all systems though as more sales of DQ outside Japan can only be a good thing in convincing S-E to release more of them here. Dat PS4 experience is going to be the real deal though, I honestly can't wait. DQVIII was freaking immense.
  9. If they do what NNK did, the 3DS version won't come out here at all. And that was on the much more popular DS, and not at the end of its life cycle either...
  10. No I didn't. I said that the developers themselves said it would be going to home console. Which they did! I said I thought it was coming to PS4 though but it seemed some people weren't having any of it. Just makes so much sense given KH3, Persona, FFXV (and XIV) are PS4 bound. I can see it going to NX after the other versions to be honest. A shame as I can see the same thing happening as what went down with the ports on Wii U.
  11. Yeeeees. YES! Fucking knew this was coming to PS4, shame Wii isn't here for the customary 'I told you so' when he kept saying it would go to Wii U instead. About time! So glad that I can enjoy a proper DQ game again in glorious HD! With a lack of Wii U announcement that again goes to show the technical limitations, since they'd probably have to work at 3 different graphical levels. Or just the unpopularity of the thing. I wonder when the NX version would be ready? Surely this game would be coming out before the NX? I worry it'll be another Wii U situation where the ports come long after they've been available elsewhere.
  12. Sweet man. I'll be on from somewhere between that time and 8. Comes with a Shadow Price. Dat be old school. *pats own Shadow Price*
  13. @Shorty @Zell you guys up for Trials tomorrow?
  14. Hang on a minute, that's not true at all. IIRC Rummy mentioned that as Diageo called somebody a shit stirrer, which is probably towing the line as it's pretty much name calling. Using the F word to say part of the fucking Mafia or some such (e.g. calling schemes bullshit) has no name calling or personal element to it. It's just language man. No one is frothing at their screens as they type here. Do you honestly never speak to people who casually swear?
  15. How was that condescending? Ronnie was causing a stir in the topic that he'd just been unbanned from over Kav's opinions when he could have just left it be. It's the same thing we've seen over and over and I didn't want to see it happen again. Sometimes a bit of outsider perspective can help. It's a shame that both you and Sprout are making this personal. I'm here to play this game; nothing more. Bringing off-topic quotes in and commenting on language used in a totally impersonal way is just dragging the mood down.
  16. Well that's a pretty condescending post. You know nothing about me and don't assume that because I swear, I'm "frustrated to the point of swearing". I often swear but it's just part of the way I speak. Swearing on occasion can be a decent way of placing emphasis. As long as you're not telling people to go fuck themselves, instead using language as a means to emphasise occasionally then I don't see why you're getting on your high horse about it. Do you really take such offence whenever an F-bomb is dropped casually into language? Come on man, don't be that guy.
  17. Oh I have no doubt he's a power mimic. I just very much doubt what he claims you are is true. What's really telling is that neither of you have tried to investigate Diageo yet are trying to push through a lynch on him.
  18. Well there's more water-tight logic - it's confirmed now. Jonnas hath decree Gamemaster status upon Sprout, apparently. Because Sprout cannot at all be part of the fucking Mafia. Does anyone not notice a considerable amount of horseshit here? So DuD is an alignment investigator who did not bother targeting the guy he suspected may be Mafia. Sprout apparently both role cops and uses their abilities (which seems rather OP to me) and used alignment investigation on...Rummy? Out of interest, does using your abilities get routed through a magic 8 ball? I am actually near enough 100% convinced Rummy is town now, as I don't think they'd want to link themselves to another scumnag. Oh hai Rummy, you're town. Ohmagawd he's right! Dat guy is so what he says he is.
  19. Ha. Must be guilty because they roleblocked a claimed alignment investigator? You're having a laugh, right? I was a roleblocker last night. Does it surprise you that I roleblocked the guy I wanted to lynch? What's more surprising is that you tried to target me and not Diageo despite trying to lynch him. Calling bollocks here. Come on guys. Vote: DuD
  20. Many of the owners aren't satisfied with the Wii U but that's nothing to do with how long it has been out. Also factor in that the Wii U took quite a while to gain traction as it was overpriced and didn't get many of its big selling titles for a while. I'd bet you a lot of Wii U owners don't feel like they've had their console long or got much use out of it. I sure havent. Pleasing the people who don't currently own the Wii U is more important in terms of turning it around. Pleasing the hardcore Wii U adopters is not as important as they will buy the next one regardless, and there's not many of them; not saying they're not important by any means, just saying that your thinking along the lines of 'they can release on day X to satisfy the Wii U customers' is a little off. They need to hold off and reposition their console as a contender, ergo the waiting and technical parity. They need to draw in people who buy the other consoles.
  21. I think the problem here is that kav has a valid point but you are essentially trying to topple it by pointing out that it's a small issue in your eyes. To some people, 24 hours can constitute all the time they might have during a weekend (for me, this weekend that would certainly have been the case). As always around here, rather than telling people they shouldn't be getting worked up, why not try ignoring them if you feel differently? Clearly it does bother some people more than you, but why does that fact itself bother you?
  22. It's not a case of how long the Wii U has been on the market, it's a case of how long the competition has been on the market. The PS4/X1 are fairly new and nobody has the feeling that they need a new system yet. As we saw with the PS4, X360 owners can and did jump ship; we've seen that before with N64 and PS1, Xbox 360 and PS3. Customers will move if they see something better, but usually at the start of the next generation, not halfway through. Nintendo can and should aim for system parity and work with third parties to get their games. Technical parity is a must to be even able to get them games in the long term as well. Releasing consoles roughly around the same time is also important in terms of getting these games throughout the full length of the generation. It's no coincidence that X1 and PS4 released at practically the same time.
  23. I'm thinking more along the lines of how it fits in with the competition - I can easily see them going another 5. It'll be the middle of the generation.
  24. Isn't it already pretty much a given that the NX will probably release within the next couple of years (considering their winding down at E3 and no Zelda)? I agree that it's a mistake to do that.
  25. I reckon you won't need Plus to play with the online elements. You bump into people so infrequently and naming planets you come across them (or impacting solar systems for others) seems quite important within the game. I also get the impression that they would want to gather stats to make it seem impressive - e.g. to boast about the number of planets visited or named. I'm sure you can play it offline too, but I would think they'd want to encourage online. Just what I think, though.
