What you ignore are the games that DON'T suffer from the sequel-itis on other platforms though. I'm not denying there are games that do, but there are plenty that don't. Nintendo has so much less of that - hence why I view it lacking in diversity.
-
Do you really class diversity as being able to slot games into different genres? I don't want to come up with a counterpoint of offerings on other systems, but I'm sure one could make an equal if not greater list for them. I would also mention that some titles above have both overlap, but rather more annoyingly, a bad case of sequel-itis. I struggle to find diversity in playing the racing game I've played 7 times before, let alone others like 2D mario, 2.5D mario, and even Smash - a title I never thought I'd find not fresh. Really? Like...did you just completely make up hypothetical numbers to try and prove a point? There's absolutely no basis in what you're claiming. You can't just make up stuff to hope it helps your point. Additionally, a ton of people can probably tell you who pac-man is - what does that count for though? In fact, if you went out and showed 100 people a picture of Master Chief, I'm pretty sure at least 110 of them would be able to tell you who it is Though it is an excellent excuse for me to post this video again;

Don't make it about the person behind the arguments - stick to the points being made! This is how everything ends up going wrong around here. Could you actually argue the point though? Like qualify it with how you think it's more diverse than ever? I can definitely see the arguments in the lack of diversity in the Wii U's output.
-
Yeah deffo not a fan of it myself - I recall how much I struggled to get through the Splatfest ok! Plus one virtue I was singing of Splatoon last night was that even if your team's crap you still get 'rewarded' according to your own performance(minus the bonus 300).
-
I think if anything - that proves his point. People's tastes maybe haven't changed - Nintendo's output may have instead.
-
Oh you guys. Didn't I say this was going to happen? @Sheikah - you need to learn to let things go here rather than continue your arguments on a point that is clearly not Wii U discussion. If you must insist on not dealing with people's opinions and 'calling someone out if they start with the generalisations' - why not quote their post and take it to the more relevant thread rather than continue the derailment of this one? Just as some of us needn't leap to the defence of the WiiU every time it's criticised with a comparison to the competition, some of us also needn't leap the other way either. I would actually call dazzybee's original point fair myself - he was talking about this generation and the alternative to Wii U that he owns - is that not an argument given by yourself in the past to justify criticism of the WiiU? Nonetheless, this has all been delightful, but as both mr-paul and S.C.G both seemed to want to keep the topic more on the WiiU whilst others just came and threw their other arguments around, I'm going to ask people to keep it Wii U related going forward, please! I'll delete posts continuing the arguments about PS4/The Witcher etc

Because I did not notice that at all! Vote:Marcamillian
-
Makes me think of those damn roller-splatters! Essentially the splat on fire, without the subsequent roll. So a sped up that, of sorts?

MadDog Peeps and Marcamillian have all been rather quiet, dawg. I'm gonna Vote:MadDog for being the quietest of the lot!

You don't get this, and that's fine, but it's happening. Technology has moved into so much more of a social sphere - evidenced by the huge rise of social media - people want that. Having a good online ecosystem isn't just about playing a game online - it's about merging both the desires of people for their social media with the traditional media to produce something that satisfies both aspects at the same time. It surprises me constantly that Nintendo, arguable kings of the local multiplayer, miss the mark so much with this aspect. I know, but yours was the most off-Nintendo post - the beginning of the rest of a derailment we've had many a time, and a potential for the same circular arguments that come with it. Though I did wonder when Flink would arrive :p

What do you think about this being the Wii U General Discussion thread?
-
Yeah I'd like to playthrough it again and probably will if/when I get a PS4. I found my own original journey quite emotional, I lost a companion and then ended up turning it off. When I came back to finish I was in the snow levels, and never actually found anyone else to journey with me, and it really stuck with me! I'm sure I've done it in an afternoon - but even then it could have been a long one. I'm currently supposed to start work at 7am Sunday, so planning to have people in by 12pm and out by 10pm - working my estimate off of HLTB that actually suggests a 'Completionists' value around 10 hours! Not entirely sure how it differs from the 'Main+Extras' but it's got a fair few submissions so I'm errring on the side of caution for now - plus we'll be chilling and ting anyway. I've also asked for no backseat Marioing by those who have played - want to let my mates try to discover secrets and exits by themselves albeit fair game to crack a secret on your own plays, though. I'm curious to see how many opt to go back to red levels to try and find the secrets!

Glad to hear how much you both enjoyed Journey @Fierce_LiNk and @Eenuh! Honestly think it's one of the most memorable and engrossing gaming experiences I've ever had. I've not done much gaming recently - Splatoon and Pokemon Shuffle tend to take my brief bits of gaming time. Started Lego City a while back but not felt the pull to go back over Splatoon. Started Shovel Knight last month or so too - can absolutely appreciate the excellence of it and the love people have, it's delightful in what it does. I have a plan for this weekend inspired by E3's Mario Maker footages...an all day Super Mario World playthrough! Aiming for 100% in what'll be about 10 hours, getting a few mates around who either have never played it or haven't played for ages and we're gonna pass the pad on death/level completion. If I was smarter or otherwise inclined I'd attempt to stream/record but meh. I am however very excited to see a few friends play one of my favourite games for the first time ever - especially in the modern age!
-
Really...? On just this page/last few posts. Careful with your overly blanket dismissive statements @Ronnie - it comes rather close to the trolling/baiting mark.
-
How's the collectibles nature compare to that of the original Yoshi's Island?
-
I have to agree - I can't stop playing it and the August update will probably just ramp it up more. In fact...I'm shortly gonna go get my daily Splatoon fix! So much for my plan to tackle my backlog anytime soon... I've still got the many frustrations(and similar to your post, tend to keep using stuff longer than I might otherwise to stay in matches) but I can't fault its addictiveness for me. Also seconding the Tuesday nights! Wednesdays I go out once a month, but Tuesdays I'm generally about. How do you mean? Not being able to hit them on the other side of the spire bit??
-
I already deleted your other earlier post which was once again you complaining about people complaining. I didn't infract because I didn't have time but I wish I had! Discuss Splatoon, Nintendo, the topics at hand etc - constantly talking about other people's opinions on the matter without expressing any real opinion of your own is what serves to derailment and arguments in these threads. I'll be giving you a yellow infraction and, once again, banning you from this thread when I get home. Other people seem to be able to disagree with each other sensibly here - but every time it seems to be you baiting and prodding. Post once again serves for others to be aware. No further discussion on the matter here please.

They disappeared a while back into a land of mystery from whence I believe they were never recovered. However with an incoming swift edit we may be able to help... Don't know all the various codes, but you can try changing the number and hope you find what you want if it isn't there? 45 is the basic looking blue 'mobiles' theme which is handy for some stealthy work browsing if you need it.

From the pics it looks to be pretty suggestive that Squad battle is Ranked modes only(they wouldn't rank turf wars, would they?) and the only other way to possibly get a team for turf wars is private battles? Hoping you're right and we can team up for turf wars though - I understand them wanting it to stay the fun and friendly mode where a team isn't just dominating(hence rotation etc) but it'd be nice if we could get a constant team of us when there isn't enough of us for a private battle, if that makes sense. Having said that - I reckon we could do well enough to get some Splatoon nights going with a decent attendance for some private battles(and presumed team balancing when there isn't 8 of us).
-
How peculiar. It appears that I got a mention from you @Cube, but not from @Jonnas.
-
All points I think I'd be on board with dazzybee, but you do remind me of something that bothers me every time and sort of related to the above... They don't even tell you what bloody mode ranked is!! Likee...it's the stupidest thing to not be including when you're doing a force infoblast on boot, that contains silly information! Either that or I've been so dense/bored by them that I'm blinded to it now, I swear I don't notice it though. Skip it - a tap of 'stages' on the gamepad does everything they do for you(except news, in which case I think they should still appear) in seconds, rather than what it takes them to explain.
-
The thing is, for me at least, I've already been heavily dissuaded from Splat Zones. Either it's me, or the teams I get, but I just can't keep up with it as well as I can TC(which, whilst it might not, feels more 'balanced' to me). So it isn't fresh, but basically a mode I'll avoid playing when it's in the rotation, and thus probably end up playing the game less!
-
Woops, that was me. I moved the post here from Wii U General rather than end up splitting a conversation into two places - didn't check times or anything(was in a slight daze).
-
I personally prefer TC and don't play Splat Zones much(more likely to go for turf wars instead) - but the fact they're on the 4 hour rotation too is annoying - too large a window to not be able to play something for me, especially as Splatoon can be good in little bursts.
-
I'm definitely in the same boat of thinking! Unless you're very casually related to the bride/groom I wouldn't think it kinda sensible in many senses bringing a rather random 'date' to their wedding! What if he/she's a terrible person or something! Having said that I did take my friend to my friend's wedding just before Christmas, but I know her and it was totally different anyway.
