Yeah, I think I first clocked Trinen at last year's e3 event - something about him jarred me at first but definitely grown on me. What I'd like more than anything(and getting beyond this conversation) is for a bit more european representation on the european front.

I realised after I can't actually think of many notable figures for the Western side but Bill Trinen would certainly be a good shout. Having worked closer on the japanese side translating and then later with Miyamoto - plus @Goron_3 was telling me during Splatoon on Saturday he's actually quite into his smash too with plans* to enter Evo for it - that's the kinda thing I think would speak well to the Western fans. *Some googling shows he is no longer going to be, given the news of this week.

That's actually another excellent point. Let's suppose someone Western could be there - who would people think would be most likely or best suited?

Iwata was apparently the first in his position not related the Yamauchi family - I don't think that's quite yet enough with japanese traditionalism to expect an American in place; but I do think it could be beneficial if there's a great Western say higher up in the company.

You really should. I can't objectively say whether the games are still good/aged well - but Kirby is probably my favourite series of all time and I still love all the games today(except, ironically, epic yarn :p)

@Zell...what's your thinking on people coming round timewise? Would you take a tipsy me on payment of a bottle of your chosen spirit? Might be up in town on the Friday night and it'd probs be a laugh mixing it up with you guys the eve before then all heading hyde park together on Sat(ofc if space is tight give priority to others coming from afar)

I can't honestly think why either! If you had to rationalise it - how would you in this day and age? I can't imagine it's something taking up lots of space of causing some major drain somewhere so why they put a 5 day limit on it is completely beyond me(especially when they insist on showing you Callie and Marie every frickin' time you boot up!!) I'm doing an extra bit of work Friday eve but probs be home by about half 9 if anyone's interested. If someone can co-ordinate a Skype chat(don't know about doing group from phone) I'd be doubly interested!! Weekend won't be too suited to it unless it's outside of to Splatfest times either. EDIT:I said interested, I meant still about.

Sad news indeed, and at such an unexpected age. I thought things were looking a bit ropey on the health side but certainly wasn't expecting this. I have to say for whatever criticisms people might level at him, he certainly had some great achievements to his name too. Very sad news.

Played pretty much 7 hours of this yesterday. Wonders of voice chat! Do kinda hate both the crappy random and how much they mack out a new stage after release - especially annoying on a weekend when you're likely to have the most time to play! New stage is interesting. Great for rollers(and the occasional annoying sniper), but a nice few bits for gun support too. Did try and Inkbrush but just wasn't doing well with it - maybe just me though as I saw one guy with a very good Inkbrush game(damn you FalconHero!). Not too shabby a stage in TC either(did try a Splat Zones, there's two areas, but got beaten). I'm finding the players in TC are getting better - much less of the quick wins for me and actual full-timed matches instead; taking some off the edge of for me.
