A new tv for it? That's killer, I'd go for a monitor if I could to save a few monies. What's the cost likely to be for getting it to work on a monitor+buying a monitor compared to buying a HDTV capable screen?

Any chance when you get Brawl you can test it with that, and also write a guide to the Wiiloader, in a brand new thread with all the info in one place? Such obvious things as display settings, where to change them, issues that can occur and remedies(if you know or have encountered any). Also places to buy with good prices would be good, recommended by forumers, not recommended etc(seems like VG+ and Gameseek are recommended, not CJ themselves, and I'm interested about 365games). Basically, a thread with a first post with lots of info in it for people(as opposed to a thread like this, littered with alot of irrelevant information, or many different people offering different info in different places). For anyone who has a Wiiloader and can test it, I have just a couple questions; 1. What's the state of things with GC games? What works and what doesn't, that you've found? 2. As silly as it sounds, can you boot and use a GC freeloader/AR with the Wiiloader? I'm curious about this that if it works, as it might fix GC issues. 3. Brawl related, is there anything out of the ordinary about the online, does it work perfectly, a little imperfectly, does it not work at all? 4. Ok, nevermind number 4, I didn't realise 480i is just another name for 60Hz. Good question from Zelda_rulez here, as display stuff goes over my head - Does it still work when you use an RGB cable or a composite, because I've heard reports of RGB not outputting a correct image with No More Heroes for example.

Hats off my man, I myself am planning to try and do a bit of a colour mod on an official GC pad, but I don't wanna do it on any of the pads I already have :p EDIT: A large majority of this post was total lies. I'm looking at a pad now, brb. EDIT^2: Ok, looking in a pad, it's quite easy, take off the back and the should buttons come with it. They themselves are held in with a bit of plastic with starpoint screws, you'll see it when you do it, not major really, after taking that out, the shoulder button plasic can come out quite easily. The biggest downside though? It seems the sticks cannot come off with ease, and I don't really wanna pull it with force in case I snap the board or rip the ribbon to the C stick. I'd say at second best solution, you could paint them with a brush or something in special paint rather than spray, but I don't know alot about paints and stuff. And now I notice there's some tiny screws on the otherside of the board beneath both sticks, but I'm fairly sure taking those out won't help matters at all. I don't have the balls to break a pad, so I'm gonna put it back together until I find another pad that isn't mine for a few quids.

Lol, nice one. I'm considering it because of that too, but also I understand there will be a Fable 2! It's not enough to warrent buying a console, of course. But Fable was my first Xbox game, so much so, I actually bought it 2 weeks before my Xbox! It was DoW in Game for £10 or something silly while I was working there. Oho, you have me sussed! Anyway, I've got a DivX player that I use already for some films and tv stuff I've acquired and it reads all discs, so it's not that important, but I thought if the 360 could do the same, it'd mean I could leave that with one of the TVs and we'd have another floating around, always handy! The streaming thing sounds pretty cool though, I've got Vista on this laptop so it'd be doable. The whole 360 in router thing though, am I correct in understanding it doesn't come with built in wireless?! Moreover, I'm gonna have to shell out >£50 to get it??

So now the boost is time based rather than being left/right flick based? I feel like it was like that in an older game, was it 64? To an extent mind, it was still left right based in part. Even if it is time based, my question'd be, what's to stop someone sliding one way, getting the boost, then sliding the other, getting the boost etc etc. I thought it was called snaking cos people snaked all over the track like that?

More like a few months! Why cut the price of the system when what'll probably be it's biggest seller is coming out?! Melee was the top game on the GC, and I reckon Brawl'll do the same for the Wii unless Ninty pull something proper spectacular outta the bag(terrible that I'm not holding much hope, but Ninty ain't giving us much here). I honestly don't see them cutting prices at all until demand seriously falls, I reckon not until another year's time or so.

Heh, thanks. I'm considering the 'Elite' though I know nothing about that either, how much extra is it and is it worth it? It'd be an extra shift for me. I'm considering trying to save for this soon, and buying it in the summer, cos right now I've got a bit too much going on. I understand the 360 has DivX support too, how can I get any DivX films I have onto it? Like...can it read any sort of discs, can it hook up to my comp etc. I probably wouldn't use up the 20GB now I think of it, cos I'll use my computers for storage of most stuffs. I don't really need any of the fancy display stuff and cables, as I only have crappy TVs to play it on, and I'm not gonna be shelling out for a nice screen any time soon after shelling out for a 360. One thing I am interested in, the implications of the loss of the format war by HD-DVD/Toshiba upon the 360? Are 360 discs HD-DVD? Are they gonna keep being made? If they use DVD and DVD-DL I guess that's not an issue at all though.. I guess with the HD-DVD being an add on, it's no issue, and I see no need for it if HD-DVD is now redundant. What's an XBL point worth?

Interesting stuff, means Nintendo might have to start working a bit harder(unlikely though, given current demand and how proper minted they must be, profit on the wii since launch worldwide, how many consoles sold now? No doubt manufacturing costs have dropped too). I can't help but think the whole HD-DVD/format war loss has probably affected things too. In fact, how DOES that affect the 360? Anyway, I don't think we're gonna see the effects of this price drop on the Wii any time soon, demand needs to fall alot more, and with Brawl coming out soon, I don't see it happening.

I know nothing about the 360, I guess this might not be the best place for it, but I thought if anyone'd know and be impartial, you guys would. Basically, I need a beginner's guide to the 260 Hard Drive - How much am I likely to use on it spacewise? More importantly, how easy is it to buy a bigger hard drive and fit it yourself? I assume it isn't some specially designed 360 HDD. XBL - The big thing on the 360. What are the costs of XBL, games on XBL, etc etc? Backwards Compatibility - Am I correct in understanding the 360 has to emulate an Xbox, and does this cause any problems for backwards compatibility? Ok, seen the sticky thread and it has a link to compatible games. Cost - Basically, how much am I likely to be spending on a 360 and peripherals off the bat, is the Premium worth it over the Core if I'm gonna be upgrading the HDD anyway? What's this Arcade package I hear about? What else? - Is there anything else I should know or consider?

I can understand the excitement, but it's alot to filter through for information about the actual topic at hand, you know? Where your order is, or how you haven't had it shipped, or debited, etc isn't in any way helpful to people trying to find out about the freeloader and it's effectiveness.

Jesus, so much fucking crap to filter through on this topic! Can we get some sort of blanket ban on talk of where your order is, how you have it/don't have it, why it's not shipped, how impatient you are etc etc. I come here to find out about freeloader and if it works, and I have to filter through pages of that crap. In fact, I think the only useful post I saw in the last 6 pages was Serebii's post of the email someone had from 365games who've confirmed it as working with a US brawl on a PAL wii. They seem to do a nice deal of them both for just £40 too, with shipping(3-5days, £2 for first class, £4 for recorded, £6 next day).# However, I am personally interested to find out if there are any online issues with the game and freeloader, it's my biggest concern at the moment.

I have a request/challenge for you! Can anyone get me a source that confirms there is definitely no snaking in MKWii? I tried some quick googlage, and found some old pages that said there was, and so now I am confused as to where the story that there isn't came from. For any psychic believers here who recently saw Derren Brown's The System, shame upon you! I've been avoiding posting and reading some of this thread, as I'm throughly convinced psyhic abilities in this sense do not exist. As no doubt someone has explained, it's just a case of you only remembering the times it does, and none of the times it doesn't. There's a name for it, when there's really small chance of something, and it happens due to large numbers(such as the brother and sister who married each other unknowingly recently, you'd wonder what the chances are! Very slim, but not zero). Only reason I am coming in here though, is because just last night and this morning I was considering buying a 360, if only they dropped the price to around that of the Wii or less, and zomg shock horrorz they just have in europe! Do I think I'm psychic? No, just a case when it happened to happen, as opposed to when it didn't. When I was littler I used to think myself a bit psychic when things like this happened though, such as talking about the simpsons, going home and see that very episode on tv, guessing the next sweet correctly(yeah, that SOUNDS weird, but it's totally not...honest.). And so forth, but I now think it's just a case of science and maths. I mentioned The System by Derren Brown, it's basically the same thing, albeit it on very simple terms.

Again unmotivated to go into uni as I said, I might go pub in a bit as a mate's back in the area, so why not. Totally gotta do my stats tomorrow, or DIE/fail life.

Yeah, someone pointed that out over on those other forums(where that Pirotic fellow is from) and I'm thinking a load of people might not have bothered to consider it, thus concluding that things don't work. I'm waiting on you guys to tell me though, cos I know most of you are all sensible ones :P

I remember trying to watch it on the plane to/from NY, and I managed to fall asleep a grand total of 3 times whilst trying to watch it, on 3 seperate occasions! I gotta say, that didn't bode well for it for me, but I finally saw it back in the UK, and while I'm not saying it isn't good or well made, it just wasnt really for me at the time. I think you need to be in a certain kind of mood or place when you see it.

Had some strange dream last night, and I think I dreamed about writing it all on here shortly afterwards. Also, my alarm went of at 9am, and every ~9 minutes thereafter, I woke up at 12.21. I need to go into uni to do my dissertation analysis, but I am seriously so unmotivated right now, so...I'm gonna do it tomorrow I think. Although as good old Fizzy said, tomorrow never comes(yeah, i watched bugsy yesterday, waht of it punks?). Hahaha, sounds like the sort of sounds a person would make whilst playing, from what I've heard of it.

From that other forum, and for anyone who would like it, I present the hefty Wiiloader manual. All 2 pages of it; Notice the disclaimer of no guarantee from Datel, and the suggestion to forever use it so that no discs can update your wii. In fact, it basically says never to update your wii ever again lest it doesn't work, so what happened to all that firmware proof malarky earlier in the thread?

I think the problem is that IT worked well, and to progress from it would change it into something different, that just won't work as well. I think it's the issue behind alot of games franchises, and the one that causes this problem. Sometimes, there's just nowhere left to go! You either keep the game basically the same and keep the fanbase(losing some who don't want the game cos it's too samey), or try and change it for the better and failing(a much more likely possibility than suceeding) and lose tons more/alienate all existing fans. If they change it too much, it'll become too much of a different game that it isn't really a mario kart anymore. Mario kart is quite unique in the racer genre IMO, and it leaves the problem for developers to keep that uniqueness along with adding freshness.
