  1. I'm interested if the firmware update on the Brawl disc is neccessary to play Brawl, and if it is, it's going to be one for US systems. In that, isn't there a possibility for changing settings on the Wii, such as which region it believes to be yours, which may make the online not work, maybe make the online route to american servers(if the disc doesn't do that itself), may allow you to get american titles on the VC? Even so, I'm starting to think more and more that it could be some pretty risky territory using a freeloader, so I'm definitely giving it at least 2 weeks to see if any kinks crop up. EDIT: Daymn, reading that other forum, apparently there's problems with Brawl just due to laser issues and it being the first dual layer! Gotta suck, how comes we haven't heard of this before, or of it happening in Japan?
  2. lol, yeah it is, I cycled through them for a while, and my avatar was (unintentional) homage to his shocked look when addressed by the narrator in one ep, cos a mate kept saying I reminded him of him. I'm quite confused seeing you though, cos I had convinced myself you were now McPhee. I'm gonna have to investigate further... For everyone saying the Wiiloader could pose the problem of not working becasue they havent had a US copy of Brawl to test it on, what's so special about Brawl that it has to be Brawl they use, as opposed to any other US disc with firmware on it? Unless it's a specific brawl+firmware argument?
  3. You look so much cuter in that photo, a little smile goes a long way! I'd actually say keep it white and not bother with the blues, looks much better white. If you had to dye it again though, I reckon the turquoise'd suit you better.
  4. Meh, probably just a money saving measure by Datel using 8cm discs, or maybe a sneaky workthrough using some gc aspect of Wiis, I dunno, cos I dunno how the wii determines if a disc is wii or gc. I'm still eagerly waiting for news of fails/effects, starting to get worried about spoliers now that brawl's out in the US though. It also means any answers I want about brawl are possibly gonna make me encounter spoilers! :s
  5. Oh yeahh, she has some pretty tasty 'recipes'... I've posted solely to say that(if anyone saw law of the playground the other day, they might get the joke why), as I don't follow celebrity chefs/cooking much, I also cannot cook for shit, so maybe there's a relation.
  6. I wake up about 10 times every morning, I am useless and can't help but fall asleep, I even put my clock far away so I have to move to put it on snooze(if i don't snooze, i lose, cos i fall asleep til gone 12) and it's no good. I fail at doing anything but sleeping, so I don't normally get the thing where I'm awake but can't go back to sleep, more I'm asleep and can't get back awake.
  7. I didn't really 'get' LiT, i guess for me, the meaning was 'lost in translation' aAHAHAHAHAHAHA. ahem. But yeah, not a great film for me, and I don't really see the raving about Scarlett Johansson either, not my kind of girl. I don't think I've seen anything else with her in, but I know a fair few people who talk about her like she's some sort of angel on earth. Plus, the arse in the opening shot of LiT isn't really hers, it's very clever editing.
  8. I should think the ping'd depend on both parties either side? You'll have a much higher ping trying to connect to somewhere in australia than somewhere in london. So distance plays a big part in determining the ping, so how can you say what's a good ping or not? EDIT: Nevermind, saw the thing about pinging google.co.uk
  9. Next time you talk to them, give them 24 hours and tell them you're going to go above them to ofcom/the ispa/whoever you have to go to above them. I forget who it is, but tell them you're gonna go above them because they're breaking the law, and if they can't magically find you a MAC code within the 24 hours, I'd say to actually go above them. Luckily for me I never had such troubles, but I can only get VirginMedia internets as far as I know
  10. Haha, so some guys tried it and it doesn't work?! Only explanation I can think of is that Datel suck, or he bought the wrong version for his Wii, or both. Can you use a Wii freeloader to boot an GC AR/freeloader?
  11. As I said, it's a matter of opinion. I'm not here to try and sell the game to you, there's gonna be people who don't fancy it and people who do, but I've got my reasons for wanting it as I explained. I do agree with you though, because despite those reasons, I'm not likely to buy the game off the bat without giving a bit of a test run first. I didn't like TP much tbh, it was a nice game and all with good gameplay, but it didn't feel like it had the Zelda charm, but I think PH shook things up well, despite it's short lived ease. I agree though, alot of Nintendo's franchises are getting tired, the jump between SNES-N64 was pretty much 2D-3D so it gave lots of oppurtunity for reinvention, but there's no 4D to go to next, so they're after the motion control angle, or trying to conquer the 'casual' market. It's a tradeoff between sticking with the tried and tested that everyone loves(Zelda top downs, I love them) or trying to do something that'll bring a new edge, but it risks the chance of failure. Eventually, the first will get worn out, and the second needs some ingenious minds with great ideas to keep up, which doesn't seem easy to find.
  12. Heh ReZ, loving the liitle lego Spidey! I feel uncool cos I don't have any keyrings now. I used to have loads as a kid(i basically thought i'd collect as many as i could when the oppurtunity arose) but I began to run out of pocket space, and a few broke off and stuff, so now I just have keys and rings, bar a pen drive I stuck on last week There's like 4 padlock keys on it too, for padlocks I've lost, so they're totally useless, and just serve to give them some substance
  13. Heh, feels a bit ironic considering what I wrote in the MK thread...buy a GBA copy! Or at third best, VC it. Yeah they did, sorry. I rewrote a bit of that post before I posted it, and the thing about them not saying stuff was supposed to follow the bit about the messages you get these days in game while you're saving. I know the turning on and off thing from the game manuals I think. I'm pretty sure it said in the covers of every game's manual, with all the safety info and seal of authenticity, cos I've read it a few times, but never seen my actual SNES's manual...
  14. Yarr, finished scoring my things about an hour ago(except for ones i have on comp, which i'll hopefully make a quick scorer for, somehow...). I proceeded to come up here, made my bed and ended up on the forum again(as my laptop hadn't turned itself off like I expected, I feel so ungreen ). I'm spending way too much time around here, and I seem to be writing fucking essays of posts, I dunno if it's just the procrastination or what, but if only I could manage such heinous word counts in my dissertation! I best start heading to sleep, it's nearly wakingup time for some members of the land, and that makes me feel so terrible :s
  15. lol thanks? I'm not entirely sure why? Well hey, you asked the question and I answered! I want it because I thoroughly enjoy MK multiplayer! I'll be honest, I was a bit dissappointed with double dash overall, but I was quite impressed with it in places. You say not enough has changed, which is a fair point, but I could say the same about the sidescroller Marios, or between SM64, Sunshine and Galaxy, or between the Paper Marios, or between Yoshi's Island 1 and Yoshi's Island 2. I could say the same about enhanced remakes, that not enough has changed, but really, it's just a matter of opinion. Hell, I had the original LttP as my first Zelda game, and despite that, I bought the GBA remake, which wasn't even enhanced! I could say the same about virtual console and old games/titles too! I know people who have bought VC stuff when they own actual originals! For you, not enough has changed, for me...well, time will tell. I'm not gonna buy it before I play it and see it, check it all out first. It's a bit half and half for me, but I'll probably get it if players 2, 3 and 4 get it, or if it's really good. I want it for multiplayer, and so I'll likely get it if they get it. Hell, I only got MKDS cos it was the first online DS title, and my mates were getting it. You can say that makes me a sheep, and in part it does, but I don't regret it much(maybe a little, I don't rate MKDS all too highly), because I had fun playing it. One major aspect that I didn't like about it? Snaking. Sure, people say snaking exists in near all the previous MK titles, but MKDS exploded the exposure, and I'd never encountered it before. The fact that MKWii has been made to eliminate it, is one big plus point for me. I absolutely hate it as, like I said, I feel it is very against the spirit of Mario Kart. Also in line with my view on multiplayer, MATtheHAT hit on something else that excites me about this...the upper cap of 12 players in online. I think that's gonna be so megacool, one thing I always wanted to do in the older MKs was 3-4 player Grand Prix mode, but they couldn't handle it. This however, will take me one step closer to it. I'm getting more and more hyped about this game now, which is a bit strange, because I knew absolutely nothing about it before I posted in this thread, and have in fact gotten most of my info from this very thread. I think this game will be better than MKDS for me, and for £30 or so, I don't see my going too wrong with it given what I've gotten from previous MKs. For me, Super Mario Kart was a really cool game I wished I had, cos at the time it was pretty unique, and my mate had it and therefore I only played it very rarely and wanted the forbidden fruit! MK64 I got with SM64 at Xmas with the N64 itself, and it was like me finally realising that desire of getting Mario Kart. It's single player was good and sustained me in the higher levels, and the multiplayer was truly brilliant, cos there wasn't much to have back then(Goldeneye, bit of MK, SmashBros when it came along, can't think of much else really). Super Circuit was good too, cos it had a hard but doable single player, probably helped by its numerous unlockables(it was also closer to the SMK original, and had alot of the tracks, so that played a part for me). Admittedly, my sister bought it and not me, I wouldn't have otherwise, but I enjoyed playing it until she lost it, I didn't have the resolve to buy another and do it all again, and I never used it for multiplayer so it wasn't all that for me. DD was to fill the void left by MK64, and whilst it didn't so as well as I hoped, it did do a fairly good job, and brought some new stuff to the table that I really liked, as I said earlier. MKDS was nice, I got bored and fed up with snakers though, and didn't bother perservering for the ** in everything(I had a few cups to go in the higher levels I think). But yeah, I feel this has enough to offer me for a good price, I'm not fed up with the series as yet, or maybe I'm just holding out hope it'll do for me what DD failed in some respects to do. I'll be honest, and say I'm not entirely sure. I feel Nintendo are losing some of their momentum as I've said in a few other threads, but this isn't the place for tha discussion. Basically, I think I buy every game in a series expecting it to be as good as the last, and I'm holding out a slim bit of hope this'll manage that or better, DD won't be too hard to beat In addition, I'm really hoping we might be able to recreate Moria's wifikarts on these here forums too, the idea was so awesome to me the first time round, but was ruined for me by snaking EDIT: Goddamn, I'm practically writting essays all over this forum, apologies for my long posts, such as this hefty one.
  16. I recently saw some photos of someone I know who I don't normally rate, but I thought she looked kinda hot. The difference? She's now ginger. As silly as it sounds, it also makes me feel wrong. Gingers have it tough! I saw half of Jonathon Ross, just as the french chef dude was saying he can't live without cooking, was pretty good. There was a brilliant bit with a strawberry too, but I won't spoil it, plus I'm not sure why I found it so funny. Daywise, I've spent about 2 hours of it scoring questionnaires for the dissertation. I have like 25 participants, as opposed to my intended/suggested/expected 90 (boo on you all for not doing it, bastards!). I'm still not even done, I need to get done before I sleep so I can go in tomorrow and SPSS it all up. I also need to make up my bed, as the sheets have been washed, and that is so much effort when I just wanna sleep, but gonna be worth it for the just washed sheetery mmm. A side effect of my dissertation, or so I think anyway, I'm getting angry and annoyed. I'm starting to secretly hate everyone on this forum, and it's really pissing me off too. It's like a never ending forever growing snowball of hate!
  17. Looks like the tables have turned since the giant enemy riiiiiidgeee raceeerrrrrrrrr days. A few people have raised some good points, what ARE nintendo doing? Actually, maybe I'm being a bit blind. I mean, there's plenty out for the wii, but...nothing stands out to me! I guess actually, Strikers does, the obvious like Galaxy, Corruption, SPM, though I haven't played Corruption or SPM. I feel it'll be Brawl that kicks some damn life into the system, and I say life, but I don't mean life, if you know what I mean? I dunno, maybe the Wii just isn't catering to me and I'm in denial of it, who knows? The Rare thing still bugs me, Ninty need to get some good second party devs on board like, and they themselves need to produce some games that really show off what the wii can do! To show it's more than a gamecube 1.5, and considering the fact it IS a gamecube 1.5, they should be so experienced with it that they can do awesome stuff with it, but I'm not seeing it much. Maybe they're too focused on the DS, but didn't they state they'd reroute some efforts from DS titles to Wii titles? Maybe, as dire as it sounds, it's just a case that Nintendo aren't gonna do anything simply because they don't need to. The DS prints money, the Wii prints money. They've got a unique hook with both systems(touch screen ease, wii control system) and a market the other consoles haven't got so much of. The Wii's are STILL hard to find in places, Nintendo don't need to make any effort to sell these things, they're rolling in money and are probably making 5 or 6 figure profits every day, so why bother putting the effort in now? Save the resources and money until you're down in the dust and actually sruggling. Hell, as much as I hate to admit it, it'd probably be quite a sensible business thing to do.
  18. Meat-ups eh? I dunno what sort of brawling you guys are into! I think it'll be worth giving the freeloader it's own thread after it comes out and people know a bit more(cos this is cluttered slighty :P). I'm interesting to see if there's any problems, what'll you guys do if there ARE problems with it?
  19. Stu. Get it? A wii trajedy, stuwii...a trajedy? yeah? no? ok. Anyway, I'd hazard a guess at you turning the game off/cutting power/resetting or something whilst the games were reading or writing. I think turning your consoles on and off quickly does the same. I dunno if it was caused by that, but I know like everything these days tells you not to ever do that, but back in the SNES days it didn't, and somehow alot of our SNES carts got themselves very fucked up at times, countless saves lost dammit! Then again, we did have a gammy plug that'd cause us to, in effect, turn the power on and off. I experienced something similar once with Baldur's Gate on GC, after spending HOURS playing, I saved then turned off the GC while it was on that 'Don't turn me off or you'll die a terrible terrible death' screen, then thought 'shit!' then turned it on, found my saves gone off the card(everything mind, but it wasnt anything important as it was a secondary card) and it sometimes gave a message it needs formatting. I proceeded to run to GAME so I could redo it all, they were closing and wouldn't let me in, I found ANOTHER memory card at home after looking for an hour, then played for ANOTHER three hours on BG to get me back to where I was(me and a friend had both bought it, and I wanted to finish it first lol). Then like...my original memory card magically fixed itself, and I was throughly fucked off. So yeah, I can understand the annoyance.
  20. Waawaawaa, ITT we spend pages talking and crying about shipping and status as if it's something that's never happened before and achieves absolutely nothing but taking up thread and people's time not even considering the fact none of you have brawl yet. Sorry, had to get that out, was REALLY bugging me. I thought I'd point out, I checked over at Yes-Asia and this VG+ place, and it's looking about the same price from both after conversion, but I'd recommend going with Yes-Asia for it as they appear to do their free shipping on Brawl(though I'm not entirely sure if it'll take longer than this VG+ place), and depending how exchange rates and all that fluctuate, it might save you some pennies. Though I mean that literally, only pennies. I'm still gonna wait to be doing this stuff though, I feel like something'll happen that'll make things suck. You getting locked out of online, online lagging like a bitch cos you route to american servers and back, and the very slim chance of Nintendo actually managing to 'fix' this. EDIT: I do have a question though, whats the cost of shipping from dvd.co.uk compared to straight from codejunkies themselves?
  21. The fact that it's a staple part of a multiplayer gaming sesh! +Online, equals=moar multi gamage! I might go so far as to say Mario Kart is one of the original multiplayer classics, from the SNES to the N64(many hours) and through to the DS. It's been overtaken by other titles now such as the Smash series, FPSes and such, but it's still got its place, and I think I'm after it mostly for a fresh bit of snake free life in the MK series. I am firmly of the opinion that snaking is certainly NOT in the spirit of mario kart's air.
  22. Am I correct in thinking that's 9 pieces of paper just for his feet?? Looks like it'll be awesome! Sorry to be the neek here btw, but shouldn't things like this go in the creative gallery?
  23. This man has hit it on the head. I've got numerous moments from games, all Nintendo ones. Darunia pranging out to Saria's Song, a few other moments in the OoT story, MM's little bits here and there, chainsaw man in resi scared me shitless, I was just in shock like 'wtf! the game can't do that! wtf....WTF!'. The opening sequence to mario 64. Opening of Galaxy. Honestly, too many to mention.
  24. Fanatsize eh sir? Did a bit of Jynx float your boat sir? Tick your tock sir? *nudge nudge, wink wink*
  25. Fuck it all in the ear! That's what I say! As long as you're alive and well, that's what matters. Just take each day as it comes for now, My 'plans' as it were for now, are getting through this degree, then getting very bloody drunk, and seeing where I wake up in the morning. Oh, and getting a car is in the plans, but certainly for after the whole drunkage thing.
