Lol, that's another thing that annoys me! The gravestones thing, you can't even have your friends pick up your stuff anymore, AND the gravestone dissappears if you log out, so if you end up lagging out, you're basically screwed. Though I didn't die alot, it was nice nabbing some random dead guy's stuff.

Wooo, Happy Birthday Cube! Happy Birthday Hem! And the other guys too, though I only really see Cube and Hem around, so they deserved their very own happy birthdays.

Yeah, the market was much free-er before, I used to tend to do big buys and sells through fansite forums, and there was a general consensus on prices(though you could often make a few bob or very small loss with it cos of the wider range, and nothing to tie you to a certain price); they fluctuated in line with things too. Now though, with the GE, it isn't exactly like that, because despite what they say about not being forced to use it, you ARE, because of the balanced trading(plus its pitiful limit) and it being tied to GE prices, shop selling prices too are tied to it(though the shops still buy off players for the old prices, hardly fair imo). On top of that, the GE doesn't fluctuate the same as things did before, and there are price ceilings and floors in place for certain(possibly all) items too. Beyond all that, I can't help but think Jagex probably fiddle prices for certain things to their own ends, how would you know if they were or not? There's also things like lootshare/coinshare, where items will always sell at the lowest possible price in the GE, even though it could easily sell at the highest. Ususally items like that are the new, incredibly expensive items, such as godsword parts. If you consider these can be worth like 20-40m+, and the price will range 10%/5% either side of the average, that can be a good few million that's easily lost through it. They argue it's for the convienience of it, it's only an inconvienience because of their epic rapage of the game. I'd never sacrifice even a million for the sake of the effort of finding a buyer for an item. Also what really pissed me off, as a clan we can't do prizes for events anymore because the trade limit is so pitifully crap.

Wow, that looks like a pretty awesome mod to make, especially considering the crappiness of the GC pad for SNES games, I'm gonna put it on my list for the next thing to do after this, cos it looks a bit tricky. As for my controller, I took it apart last night to paint all the grey bits black. I also found that the sticks CAN come off, you just need to pull with a bit of force. My next step is gonna be to put it all back together, then play with it a bit to see how it's holding. Then I'm going to be painting the ridges/crevices(like on the stick, and the letters) of the blackened buttons gold once I get some gold paint and a fine brush, then also do the purple casing gold once I obtain my gold spray. I'm using acrylic paints if anyone cares. Also, some pichures! EDIT:Seems that despite painting them last night, and given my sister's reports that the paint'd dry within a few hours(she neglected to mention she was basing that off painting on canvas), the paint is actually still not dry. I'm kinda regretting the idea of painting it on with a brush, think it's gonna take a while to dry off, should have tried to get myself some black spray instead. Also some little bits of fluff from the house being cleaned today seem to have stuck to the paint a bit EDITEDIT:Oh noes, it seems I used oil paint rather than acrylic, and though I don't entirely understand the difference, I'm sure it isn't good :s Ok, now I sort of understand the difference, and am throroughly unimpressed with my sister for giving me her box of acrylic paints and not knowing she even had oil paints, and throughly unimpressed with myself for managing to pick the one oil paint tube out of a ton of acrylics. Totally repainted everything with acrylic, though it looks a bit shit cos there's a few brush strokes here and there. Getting the oil paint out was not fun nor easy EDITEDITEDIT:ARGHARGHGHGGHGHG! I SUCK! I'VE LOST MY FUCKING START BUTTON! I THINK IT WENT DOWN THE BLOODY SINK, I AM MOST UNIMFUCKINGPRESSED.

Damn that cookyman! I got an invitation straight to my wii message board(a bloody sensible idea really) to add him as a friend if I had the game! Alas, I do not, and kinda wanna play it first before I actually buy it, though I guess either way I'd end up getting it regardless out of loyalty. Anyone played it yet that can offer their first impressions and opinions?

Yeah, addresses and identities aren't that hard to fake, especially on a small scale like rental shops. It doesn't sound too profitable due to the possible risk costs, but then if you took a deposit to cover the cost of the console, you'd effectively be covered regardless, the problem with that is you're likely to get less demand due to less people being willing/having the money to front for a deposit. The best way to implement it'd probably be Moogle's suggestion of a cafe type thing, though it has the disadvantages compared to a rental service of things such as the hassle of going to the cafe, there is likely to be more scope for multiplayer stuff.

Hyde Park 4th-6th July N-E Meet and Mainland July 5th Meet in Holland
Rummy replied to jayseven's topic in General Chit Chat
Wow J7, that 1000 blank cards thing seems like an awesome idea, even though my mind isn't anywhere near abstract enough for it! I'm still gonna propose it to some mates soon though, have a day out in the park or round a house playing it and making a ton of cards, I'm totally in for that on the day! -
I totally agree! The only ones which look useful(from what i've heard, not actually looked at rs since like monday), would be the air ones, assuming air running/crafting is still a possibility under the new trade system. One thing I used to love about Runescape was pondering its economy though, I dunno how much other RPGs are like RS(i find it fairly unique) but the implication of things upon the economy and the way prices changed used to be fascinating! Of course, it's all changed now due to their whole balanced trading and grand exchange. Hopefully they'll up/remove the limits after a while.

Breaking someone's trust? How? I happen to think mine was quite on the balance of going too big, whilst keeping it good. Really, it's very simple, I'm just a bit concerned about whether it'd have consequences I'd rather it didn't.

Mehhh, I have a few 'dream jobs' which'll probably turn out to be not so dreamy in reality, so I'm not setting my sights on anything yet, gonna take it easy. Currently about to finish a BSc in Psychology this year, and working part time in an acute psychiatric setting, but tbh it's not something I really wanna go into anymore. If there's one job I would/do like, it'd be to be a counsellor, but it's likely I'll need some experience and have to go back and do 3 years of study, and at the moment, further study can fuck off, I wanna live! My dream job otherwise'd be to get paid lots to do something I enjoy, as with everyone, preferably even paid lots to do nothing!

I've been at work for the afternoon, then came home and have somehow killed 5 hours with a lack of productivity, though to be fair a couple of those were spent learning to dismantle a gamecube, in preparation for doing so in attempts of a mod job! Anyone out there ever done anything in the way of console modding, or know their paints, or even their electrics? Cos if you do, I'd quite like you to pop along to tapedeck's thread in the Gamecube board :P I think I might actually go to sleep now, being up all night playing LoTR Risk on monday seems to be catching up with me. Haha, I was totally the opposite! Hated stats but breezed through mechanics(in a 100% sort of way ), wish we'd done M2 instead of S2, probably woulda gotten an A overall

They did a shitty half job of implementing it though, it's like...they had a brilliant idea, but did it in the most ridiculous way possible. I actually just started playing again last sunday after like a 6 month hiatus(when my internet broke), cos of an old clan comp thing that happens every year, so this was like proper timing! Shame the actual thread for it is so dead, I also never realised how many people here had played it at some point or another! Having said that, it is like the disowned RPG child of the internet, alot of people know of it and just disregard it, though I half hate it too, I half love it as well, it's strangely addictive for me. I think it's generally down to the 'bad graphics, bad game' mentality that some people have. (I dunno if 8 days counts as a bump btw, if it does, then apologies, but I've not been around, saw this thread and couldn't resist!)

One day I intend to come out to my parents as an april fools joke, but this plan has been in my head for like 4 years already, and I'm a little worried that if I do it, they'd react slightly badly whilst trying to put on a good face(hence the hilarity) but then they'd not believe it to be an april's fool after I do it and think I'm just covering or something, or will perpetually think that I am secretly gay for the rest of their lives. I kinda don't want my parents to forever think I'm gay, so I've not yet plucked up the courage to do it. I totally need to get a hidden camera set up too, cos if it was to work, I'd wanna have it forever.

Giving this a bit of a total hijack and bump hoping someone might be able to help on the best paint front, I've now decided to extend(though I'm doing it first) the plan to an actual gamecube which I recently purchased off Esequiel(spent a good few hours working out taking it apart, even with internet help), gonna make it Gold then somehow cover the black thing all black, then put a triforce on top of that, but I still dunno what'd be best ways to do things. I might also replace the little orange LED with a green one, though I dunno about that either to stop any sort of power issues cropping up. Someone has suggested that enamel paint will be best for the controller as it'd obviously be under alot of wear, and other paints might come off easier or something. Any recommendations/advise? Secondly, anyone know their electrics and that who could tell me what I need to be mindful of for the LED replacement(do i change the resistor too, or must the new LED's ratings match the old?), and lastly, any suggestions on colour of the LED/anything else mentioned or design?

Aha! I remember bookmarking this way back in the days that the wii had just come out, off a link on these forums, I never really used that bookmark...until today! http://kotaku.com/gaming/wii/wiis-uses-about-onetenth-power-of-360-216051.php I once had a much better page breaking it down, but I guess I couldn't find it again, it was all done with proper multimeters. EDIT: I see someone posted in the gap whilst I was finding that. So nevermind. But, compare the figures(possibly changed now since changes in 360 design) and running an Xbox game for an hour is roughly the same as running a Wii game for 10!

Wii Freeloader Thread - FAQ & Info in First Post
Rummy replied to DiemetriX's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I have to say, your posts are most confusing and I'm not entirely sure I understand what you're saying. The way I see it, the freeloader works as follows; Wii discs often contain firmware upgrades on them, presumably for people who haven't updated their wii through the internet for one reason or another. These discs will install the firmware on them unless a newer version is already on the Wii. The Freeloader will boot import games, and regular games, by somehow fooling the disc into thinking there is a more current version of the firmware or fooling it into thinking it doesn't need to install the update. This is with the regular method(put in once). With the alternative/second method/the one where you put the freeloader in twice, it makes the wii/disc ignore the region coding but DOES NOT bypass the firmware as in the above step. It boots the disc as a disc would regularly run on a wii system of its specified region. Hence, the button will say Update, instead of start, and when you update as such, it will take place exactly as if you weren't using a freeloader. The Wii now has the firmware, and the Freeloader no longer bypasses this or selectively decides what installed aspects to use. It does however, still fool discs into thinking they can run and not need to install new firmware. I second this notion, but found it hard to believe he was actually suggesting such a thing, as I find it a ridiculous idea. If it was the case, there'd be no need for alternate methods, surely? -
Wii Freeloader Thread - FAQ & Info in First Post
Rummy replied to DiemetriX's topic in Nintendo Gaming
It seems to be what is currently being discussed. You do not HAVE to use it on every single game after, Datel RECOMMEND that you do to avoid firmware that could stop it working from being installed. I do believe the Freeloader regular boot method totally bypasses any sorts of system update/firmware updates the disc offers, and the second method installs everything the disc wants to install. I find it hard to believe the freeloader is intelligent enough to selectively install off a wii disc. -
I saw both Celebi and Jiarchi in like my third ever brawl match, useless celebi, i really needed a good pokeball! Made me giggle a bit when afterwards it said that they're rare sights, two in one match! Not seen Mew yet though, he'll probably pop up eventually. I'm not up for farming yet, or looking up how to unlock characters(got sonic, ganon, marth, luigi and captain falcon so far). Just looking to get them all along the way sort of thing. Not played much SSE except the other night, planning on finishing it off with my mate, maybe. Been hitting up classic and events really, good stuff. Had a few brawls, and a few mates round for some, am liking it. Overall, it feels different to Melee in a way I can't place, but I've gotten used to it now, only the changed dodging bothers me a bit, as well as some slowdown of stuff like trasforms and the baseball bat. Online, my first few matches had no lag, but lately I'm getting more here and there, can be reallly annoying lagging bad in a match. You know what? I agree with you quite alot on that point. I still think it was worth the £40 though, but it does feel a bit boring at times, but I'm putting it down to not having discovered all of its brilliance yet. The SSE's story is just fucking sublime though, absolutely love the cutscenes!
-
Spent about 2 hours on SSE with a mate last night, good stuff, wicked story, though the whole thing gets a bit tedious and repetative over time, saved only by the excellent story and character variety like. The cheeky bugger correctly guessed who was behind it all too! About 25% through on that save, we haven't been sticking stikcers and shiz though(i stuck some in my main one, before i read you can't get them back). One other thing bugging me, what happened to the list of bonuses in Classic mode???
-
I too, am broken up for easter(not like it'll make much difference given my previous attendance) and of course, my dissertation is 99% out of the way, so today I was gonna go do some aikido in a park, then go get drunk in the pub, but the weathers bad, so I'm only doing the getting drunk in a pub. Curry night! Spent last night/afternoon playing SSBM, my mate come round about 9ish, and we played SSE for about 2 straight hours, then I told him to go home. Been nice. I can't wait til pubbing tonight, should be cool seeing faces again, and actually getting under the influence, been a while! ReZ, why do you call the LONDON EYE the millenium wheel? It sees all ReZ, IT SEEEESSS ALLLLLLLL....

Strange question about small(literally) money transfers?
Rummy replied to Rummy's topic in General Chit Chat
Haha, no. I did realise it sounds a bit iffy, which is why I thought it might be a strange question. The money wasn't going to be going to charity either. It was all part of a rather excellent idea I had, but I wasn't going to reveal until it was actually doable, but it looks like it's going to the shitter, and had no reply back from PayPal -
This is why I have a problem with your current point, and attitude. It seems, like an overly zealous religious person might, you totally missed the question and thought you'd preach to me about science, and maybe assuming I don't already know about science. However, all you've done is confirm that science can't prove itself right and prove religion wrong. My question was a short, clear question, asking WHY science can't prove it wrong, not asking HOW science can't prove it wrong.
-
That's clearly his point, why can't your precious science help you to prove itself right and religion wrong? Scientists are not the purest and most logical of people either, it's not hard to make a study show what you want it to one way or another. I think some people put too much faith in science, just as much as religious people sometimes put too much faith into their religion. What sort of good scientist will get anywhere with closedminded and narrow views?

Been playing this a bit, suck a little(done 4 classic runs, fought a secret character at the end of each one and lost on three occasions, lucky me I got the one guy I really can't be fucked with having. I'll show him some damn moves!). First reactions? A bit meh, I was in 16:9 but then went to 4:3 cos the TV isn't the biggest in the world, and things picked up. Gameplay wise, felt a bit melee-ey, and a bit different in a way I didn't like, my last 3 runs was with new characters though, and I got to enjoy it(Pokemon Trainer and Olimar wooo!). I'm liking it a bit, and can see it being better in the other areas.
