My girlfriend had depression for quite a while before we started going out and then it came back after we'd been going out for a while. She'd been on anti-depresants before we went out, but after she felt better stopped taking them and got worse. After a while she used her repeat perscription to get more, but by then her depression had got very bad, and the pills kinda made her worse (anti-depresants give you your energy back first before making you feel better, so before them she was like "I could kill myself but I'm too tired", after starting them again you have the enegry to do it). She took about 10 paracetamol whilst at work one day, and it was pretty scary for a while. But luckly they didn't need to pump her stomach, as the stomach did most of the work for them. If anyone thinks OD'ing is a good way to commit suicide, think again, if you die from it you basically drown in your own vomit. After that the doctors put her on a higher dose of venaflaxin, and also diazipan to keep her calm. She's still on the venaflaxin, but last summer she reduced her dosage. She's hoping to come off of them completly this year. My advise, is if you do feel you could be depressed go and see your doctor about it. They can refer you to a therapist if they think it will be helpful to you, and they will be able to tell you if you have depression too. Don't think about it as being whiny, at the end of the day depression is an illness like any other. It's a chemical imbalance in the brain. If a diabetic can't think themselves better, why should someone with depresion be able to do it?

You hold the balance board at the side of the screen, and move it up and down? Personally I'd like some Monkey Island remakes for the Wii :-D Or maybe it would be better on the DS.

Head Tracking for Desktop VR Displays using the WiiRemote
steggy replied to BeerMonkey's topic in Nintendo Gaming
The only reason I compared TrackIR to light guns is because they're both aimed at the same market. The only other peripheral I can think of that aims at that market are steering wheels. Which are a lot more popular than light guns, but they are an optional extra, that doesnt need any extra coding by developers. I didn't realise that TrackIR had as much support as it does, but the PC peripheral market is very different from the console one All I'm trying to say and I think we both agree on this, is that it would be more successful if it came with a console. I do hope the Balance board is supported well, and if nintendo have done things well. It could slip in, in the same way as steering wheels do at the moment. Because essentially all it is, is an analogue input, so if the Wii can translate this as a substitute for maybe the analogue stick on the nunchuck then there should be next to no work for devs (Heck if it worked like that, SSX blur would work straight away). -
Head Tracking for Desktop VR Displays using the WiiRemote

I agree with DCK on this, if this tech came with a new console it would be more wildly used than if it came out as just a peripheral. There have been far more peripherals that have gone under used than there are that have been a success. If the Wii remote would of been an add on to the GC, heck even the PS2. We would have less than 5 titles that would of used it's features. The main difference between the one's that have been a success and one's that have failed are there main audience. Singstar, guitar hero & dance mat games all have a big apeal in the "casual" audience. The closest add on to the TrackIR in the console world would probably be light guns. How many games use the light gun on the PS2? I'd hazard a guess at less than 10. Now how many titles use the pointer function of the Wii remote? Look at how many games support TrackIR on the PC, and that's a platform where games can be easily patched and updated to work with it after it's release. -
Unfortunatly not, it's the playtrade side of it. Ranging from £58-75, and the £75 one is second hand too. I feel sorry for anyone stupid enough to buy it at those prices. Play Listing

Yeah I was thinking of getting this but couldn't find it in stock anywhere online. There are some on play.com going for £70!!!
-
If you haven't played it then it's definitely worth trying. http://www.trackmanianations.com That's the link to there free version of the game, it's more cut down than usual if I remember correctly but it's online mode is great. With some great downloadable tracks. If this game comes out on either system I'll probably get it, my favorite mode is the puzzle mode

Most Inappropriate Things To Say In Any Given Situation Thread

Lol, asteroid?

No need to Vicar, the rumour started when the publisher sent emails to people who complained saying that it could happen later in 2008. I mentioned this here.

Let's not forget that according to rising star, that it is the developers that have decided we should get the cut down version. I'm not buying it to prove a point, I do think the game still looks good. But I know whenever I kill one of the bad guys I'm going to be thinking how much more better it would be with the original graphics. Which is why I'm either going to wait for a way to get the developers original vision. Be that either an un-cut European release or a Wii version of Freeloader. Either way the developer will end up with my money, just not at launch. I don't think it is to be honest, judging by the fact that the first videos shown had the blood in them. And they were released(Mar 07) way before Ubisoft were announced as the publisher(Sept 07). And also looking at the similarities between this and killer7, it kinda seems to me that the blood was Suda's original vision. But he decided to change it for the Japanese version, since as someone else has said. Some Japanese developed games have to be changed to get past censors in there homeland, RE4 for example.

My email conversation with Richard Barclay And his reply

Rising Stars reply And this from Suda51 From www.gamesindustry.biz All I can say is, that the original video's that came out with blood in it, were released before Ubisoft were annonced as publishers. And I'm still not going to buy the European version, roll on Freeloader for Wii.

PaRappa the Rapper Creators Making Wii Exclusive Game
steggy replied to gaggle64's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Did some digging and it seems that mojib, never made it to europe or the states. Unlike Vib Ribbon which only made it to Japan and Europe, it's understandable though as mojib is very much centred around the japanese language, rather than the international language of music. -

PaRappa the Rapper Creators Making Wii Exclusive Game

Na was published by Sony, was developed by Masaya Matsuura and his team though. I never knew there was a sequel, then again I didn't own a PS2, did it get released over here? The reason I mention MP3's is because I don't have any songs on CD's now-a-days, or even then really so MP3's would be my ideal situation. -

Maybe Vib Ribbon 2 Updated to work with MP3's on an SD card. -
1000 Point cards are now up, I need a couple of 100 point cards though.

Yeah maybe I am overreacting a little, but I really liked the OTT style and shock value of the art style in this game. As with Killer7. Plus I like to throw my toys out of the pram whenever we get an inferior version than NA. This sort of treatment really f**ks me off. Besides the publishers will probably only listen with there wallet's anyway, so saying I won't buy would be the best way to get noticed. And I don't want to make myself a lier do I?
-
I've signed the petition and sent an email. If the game is released without the blood I won't buy it, hey it might be cutting my nose off to spite my face but I can be a stubborn b*stard when I want to be.

Lol yeah. I think the idea of a Mii having a FC, And having one list of friends which carries over to all WFC games would of worked best allowing the best of both worlds.
-
I see where your going with that, sorry when someone says "import" to me a think of one operation that transfers a list of data from one place to the other. Which wouldn't really be viable if more than one person used the Wii in question. But still what you are saying wont work, that well. Say you have a friend on your Wii list that has two smash bros online Mii's. You choose to add him to smash bros from your wii list, you then have to be shown both accounts of his from smash brothers so you can choose which one you want to add. This could potentially be a hole in the pretty water-tight protection that the FC's have been implimented for.
