  1. I've just seen IGN's online play impression, looks very good to be honest. I'm not sure how final there version is though, as some of the info seems to contradict the info from iwata asks. The online challenges looks like it will be a good feature http://uk.wii.ign.com/articles/865/865110p1.html
  2. God all the modes availiable make it pretty obvious that this is a spiritual successor to Mario Golf, even the menu system is very similar. Don't bother me, as I loved Mario Golf on the GC , and playing with classic capcom "costumes" will make a good alternative. Not to mention the Wii controls seem good.
  3. Basically it's a quick way of seeing if any of your friends are online without having the Mario Kart disc in the drive. It also shows any ghost data you have been sent and your ranking I think.
  4. I was sick of it last generation when MS stopped Halo comming to PC first, that betrayal has put me off buying any MS consoles. I was looking forward to Halo for close to 2 years and then a month before release MS brought bungie and it was going to Xbox first and PC shortly afterward. Fast forward a year and it eventually came out on PC but wasn't nearly as original as it had been. Still annoys me to this day.

    Wii Fit

Are you implying that Australians floss there teeth too much? Because thats very racist.
  6. 4-Player GP is essentially 4 player co-op where you can play through the main single player with friends. The original SNES game had 2 player GP, as did the other home console version AFAIK. 4-Player versus is just a single race, you could probably play through each of the cups in turn. But you wouldn't unlock things this way.

    Wii FPS

Each to there own I suppose, if you prefer controls that in my opinion are slow and clunky, that's up to you. IMO the Wiimote is miles ahead of dual sticks, the fact of the matter I've never really been able to get on well in first person shooters on consoles until now. They've always felt too slow and cluncky, especially for multiplayer. Oh and when it comes to realism darkjak, theres a time and a place for it in a very fast paced game like the original quake it didn't matter. And I really can't see CS being as popular as it is if it didn't bend the rules somewhat.

    Wii FPS

That made me laugh, if you were anyway a hardcore FPS fan, you'd realise that the mouse + keyboard is the best way to control them so far. The Wii controls arn't quite as good as M+K but they are miles ahead of analogue sticks. I still remember play Quake online years ago, jumping over the top of someone shooting at them as they were under me and keeping my sights on them throughout the arc of my jump. When that's possible with a pad then I'll reconsider, it's still not possible with the Wii remote but its closer than dual analogue.
  9. If two Wii's were connected to the internet via the same router and from what I've heard Wifi play on the Wii is mostly peer to peer, then playing online will essentially be Lan play. Maybe with a roundtrip to your ISP but that should be neglagible. Unfortunatly by the sounds of it, it'll only be 2 players per Wii via Wifi, so you'd need an awful lot of space(not to mention 6 TV's) to have 12 players in one house. Then again if a Wii can connect to a DS via Wifi I don't see why it can't connect up to another Wii, whether it'll ever be used is another matter. I havn't seen a LAN option in BWii, so I don't think that has this feature.
  10. Lol I suppose, will give you a similar steering wheel orientation of a big truck. Don't know how well that would work though, I'd either go back to holding the remote facing me and it wouldn't work. Or I'd end up holding the wheel like a plate and in that case I might as well not bother with the wheel.
  11. How can you play Excitetruck with the Wii Wheel? Excitetruck has you holding the controller face up but the wheel is orientated so the remote is faced toward you.
  12. I think it probably stems from the face that the US Wii's can't output an RGB signal, they have S-Video instead. It could be the case that the US game is out putting a S-Video signal on the RGB cable. Just thinking alloud here but is there perhaps a way to switch you TV to expect a S-Video signal on the scart socket you plug the Wii into, I'm pretty sure my old TV had that option. Actually thinking about it, the pins on the Wii video port are probably wired up to output the S-Video signal the game is outputting to the wrong pins on the scart. I don't think there's anything Datel could of done about it TBH, I wonder if a US S-Video lead would work with this. I guess we'll just have to stick to using the two different output methods we have in common with the US, composite and component.
  13. I think the confusion with profit here, is based over time. Owing to what you guys are saying they made a profit in 2006. But I think over the time between Xbox launch and now, they have only recently started to re-coop the money they lost in the early days.
  14. I don't think this looks too bad really. Seems like they're trying something different, not sure how it will control from that side view. But I like the idea of aiming weapons with IR.
  15. You'd probably need a cross over cable, but they can be purchased for a few quid. You'd just need to switch internet connection sharing on the PC you plug into the 360, oh and you'd need to have the PC on when you want to go online. This isn't based on experience on wiring up 360's, as I don't have one, but general networking experience. You might get away with a normal ethanet cable, as you can with two pc's if they can switch the cables in software. No idea if the 360 can do this though.
  16. I guess I'm one of the oldies as well, my first computer was the Vic-20 (Well it was my brothers, but I played it too) I don't think gaming has got worse, it has been getting better. With quite a few different genre's being born here and there. I think I found a good balance of gaming last gen, having the GC for some casual fun titles and the PC for some of the more serious titles. But this gen my PC is looking a little worse for wear, and I havn't been too hyped for any PC games of late (bar Orange Box). So I've been channeling a lot of my time into my Wii, and I've been having a great time. But I have noticed myself buying more games before I've finished the older ones. And with MKWii comming soon I don't see that changing for a while. And I still want to get hold of Ghost Squad, Geometry Wars and Mario & Sonic. Before when I was a bit poorer, I think I tended to get more out of my games. Well at least when me and my gf finally get on the property ladder I'll have a lot of games that still need completing. Having a bit more of a chance to think about it, I don't think gaming's got worse or better. There's still casual games, it's just theres more of a market for them. I mean if you think about it, Solitare had a huge buzz around it in the mid ninties. Nintendo continues to innovate and make simple fun titles. The XBox seems to have taken a lot of the PC market with it's excess of FPS's, which will still be horrible to control, sorry XBox owners but it's mouse + keyboard or Wiimote + Nunchuck for me (I still don't know why a mouse + keyboard combo hasn't been released for the 360, I mean you could play Quake 3 on dreamcast that way). And sony continues pump out titles that fail to interest me in the slightest. Anyway, so things have moved forward but in my eye's continue to be the same in the console world. Hopefully with WiiWare comming out soon, it will bring along some good innovations. You see this sort of thing with flash games online, and hopefully some of the good ideas get snapped up by punters and dev's alike.
  17. I think the 4 new videos on IGN are 150cc, as they all seem to have bikes and karts in the same race. I think it looks fast enough for me, especially looking at the koopa video. I think this will be similar to ExciteTruck in regards to boosting, in which it could seem a little slow until you got your boost on. And it seems the mechanic of getting as much boost going as possible has transfered over, especially with the bikes(wheelies). I have only really played SMK and DD, but I enjoyed both of them. Never had a problem with the speed of DD, my main gripe was lack of shortcuts.
  18. Alternativly you can find a list of the Lore on a FAQ.
  19. It's a bit of a pain if you haven't been sending the dude who gets treasure out (Can't remember his name) regularly throughout the main story. He can sometimes find "Lore" that gives you clues about how to find the other chests on each level. The clues don't tell you what level they refer to, but I think they say what world. I've found a few chests by accident on a second play through, but I haven't got many "Lore's" and now I'm faced with sending whoshisface out starting a level and quiting it to see him come back. Apparently he can find something that means he returns instantly so if you have that it wont be so difficult.
  20. This might be my way of owning the uncensored No More Heroes. Fingers crossed it doesn't come out much later than that. But either way it's nice to know I can own this version of the game at some point in the future.
  21. I don't think it looks that bad, if you read the guys comment about the wheel in the comments section.
  22. Yeah I still have a Medal Of Honour & Max Payne tee shirts that I laze about in from when I worked in game. The only nintendo one I had was a GBAdvance one, but I think some ex girlfriend of mine has that (Or I threw it out because it shrank, lol).
