Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection (2023)
Happenstance replied to Julius's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I actually tried going back to Battle Network 1 a few years ago and struggled to get into it so I don't know if I'll be bothering with this. Shame because I do have fond memories of playing that original game. -
Not one I'll get straight away now after buying Trails of Cold Steel but it's nice to know it's worth getting thanks.
-
It's dangerous enjoying a new Star Wars show, it's always puts me in the mood for more which means I end up spending money. Just ordered another 2 Star Wars omnibus'

I'm about 3 hours into Trails of Cold Steel and I'm enjoying it. It doesn't feel like the most unique jrpg out there but it's solid enough and I'm sure it'll pick up. I can see where some of the Persona 4 comparisons come from with spending time with classmates. Only real complaint would be the music. I don't think I ever realised how important music is to me in games like this but this is some of the most generic ass jrpg panpipe music I've ever heard and it's starting to drive me a bit nuts 😆

Bought a few more games in the sale, think that's probably me done now
-
Decided to go with Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel. Read up a bit more about it and it looks like while playing the earlier arc will help with the story, it's not a necessity so if I like this then it'll give me a 4 game jrpg series to look forward to.
-
Yeah that's an idea. I've owned the early ones and they never clicked with me but maybe the later ones will. It's the same thing I had with the Legend of Heroes games. I started with the first one but being in the mood for a more modern RPG I never really latched on but also didn't know if I could just skip to a later one.

Anyone ever play the Atelier games? Still looking for a jrpg to buy and it seems like Atelier Ryza could be a good jumping on point but I basically know nothing about that series.
-
Nah I'm good 😝
-
Yeah I remember you didn't like it but it still interests me and as it has mostly good reviews I'm just hoping we'll have different opinions on it. Gave Katana Zero a go anyway and really enjoying it so far. Reminds me of a cross between Hotline Miami and Gunpoint.
-
Got myself a copy of Katana Zero. I may still get Tales of Arise but I haven't decided yet.
-
Nothing yet, I agree it's not the best sale ever. I might just get a couple of double dips that I wanted to play on my Steam Deck like Shenmue and Dead Cells then wait for better discounts later for other stuff. I was tempted by the FFVI pixel remaster but that can probably wait as I've still got other long games waiting to be played.
-
I think the series maybe had a few pacing issues but overall I really enjoyed it, especially Obi Wan's journey from where he was at the beginning to where he ended up. Good stuff.
-
Should be the start of the Steam Summer Sale tonight. First time in a few years I actually expect to spend quite a bit during it (as long as the discounts are worth it of course!).
-
Should be able to get onto Paramount+ tonight with Sky and finally start watching Discovery season 4 and Strange New Worlds. Sounds like theres a few episodes missing here and there in some of the shows (I think both the TNG and Enterprise pilots were missing for some reason) but I'm sure it won't take long to sort.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (29th February 2024)
Happenstance replied to Julius's topic in Other Consoles
I loved the original and I loved remake. Thought they did an amazing job remaking a beloved game while not just rehashing everything all over again. That original story is still there but this gives a new direction so we don't just know what's going to happen. It was my favourite game of that year and I loved watching the mystery unfold as I was playing and noticing more and more differences. -

Crisis Core –Final Fantasy VII– Reunion (13th December 2022)
Happenstance replied to Julius's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I don't think I ever managed to play Crisis Core, even on emulation so it'll be nice to play this. -
TMNT: Shredder's Revenge (Switch, PS4, Xbox, PC)
Happenstance replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Just an addition to the thread thing from yesterday as the Crisis Core thread made me think of it. If we are going to start putting multiformat games into the Nintendo section then we at least need to list their platforms in the thread title. -
I remember enjoying Ryse but I don't remember why lol. I think it was the combat...

Anyway, back to the game. I might pick it up tonight on Steam. Looks like one that should fit well with my Steam Deck. -
TMNT: Shredder's Revenge (Switch, PS4, Xbox, PC)

I think it was also when the Nintendo section of this forum was a very hostile place and a lot of people stopped going into it. Nowadays that's just any thread with a Sheikah and Ronnie argument happening -

Not really, always worked before. You just spoke to the people playing the same versions you were.
