The music we've heard so far has been phenomenal, can't wait to hear what Uematsu has done with some of my favourite tracks from the game! Also, looks like we've got the western box art... ...bit weird that it doesn't say 'Part One', but oh well get a feeling that that's something people are going to latch onto and complain about.

Will be in this week's State of Play; apparently the media are getting some behind-closed-doors time with it too. I have to imagine that we'll be getting a release date...

Okay, okay, so the title sounds like a hot take, but honestly, after watching Dunkey's latest video, I'd really like to see a discussion about where Xbox is going. And I had no idea where to put it, so here we are Honestly, I'm clueless, and agree with a lot of his points. Even with them buying up a bunch of studios as of late, I think that many here will agree that their palette of games just isn't varied enough - in genre, art style, general design ethos and direction - to support a console going head-to-head with both Nintendo and PlayStation, in what is arguably their greatest forms. Their drive to innovate and refine technology is a noble one, which clearly pushes Sony a little more, but it feels like they've built a beautiful Ferrari which they forgot to place the engine into. Options, I think we can all agree, are great, and the more we have the better - so why shouldn't Xbox be varying their catalogue a bit more? It's great that they're buying up studios and building for the future, but just have a look at what happened with Rare...and now imagine those mistakes being repeated with those new studios. The scariest part of all is that it's really not that farfetched. I'm looking forward to seeing what they do moving forwards, but I don't see the same spark in Xbox that I do with PlayStation and Nintendo. It'll be interesting to see if they can prove myself and others wrong in this coming generation.

The Erdrick trilogy is officially coming to the West on September 27th, the same date as Dragon Quest XI S's release, via the Nintendo eShop - day-and-date with the Japanese release! Only US prices are up so far: For those wondering, a physical edition is available to import from Asia which comes with an English language option, which is available on Play-Asia. This version is due to release next month. Here's Square Enix's press release on the titles: EDIT: And yes, I know we're talking about it in the Switch thread...but it feels deserving of its own!

Could it be a Galarian Farfetch'd (or evolution)? I'm kind of seeing a leek right at about the level where it's beak would be...

Yep, from the old thread about their new project which turned out to be this game:

Amazing how just a few lines give an entirely new context and meaning to his astounding work effort. Ultimate bringing every character back and having such a great variety of characters joining, either as DLC or before that in the base game, just makes so much sense now.

Aaaaaand it's also coming to PS4.

It's up on the official Star Wars site in their article covering the Star Wars part of the panel, so I wouldn't consider it a spoiler (at least, Disney clearly don't think it is). I imagine it'll be part of a behind-the-scenes reel that we'll probably get tomorrow for the film. I imagine that it's a red herring a la Finn wielding the lightsaber throughout the marketing campaign for TFA, and is probably part of a vision in the film (assuming that it's not on the cutting room floor). I probably should've put the promotional poster in this thread: -

Gaming Podcasts: A Thread about Listening to Others
Julius replied to Goron_3's topic in General Gaming Discussion
I'd highly recommend the Game Informer show, if you haven't checked it out already. Funny, informative, and just an all-round good time. Especially great to listen to when they come back from trips for their cover stories, as they go all over the place spending time with developers as a result. Plus, they're always quite long, and typically close with a developer interview. Speaking of EZA, though, Kinda Funny shot their E3 2019 review with them in their new studio, and I think it's some of the best content KF have put out in a podcast for a loooooong time: -
Read this on Reddit a few days ago, and while I think you can take some of the numbers with a pinch of salt, the points being made about Game Freak are important ones: Heck yeah, I love myself some Pokémon mock-ups! This one gets me dreaming: Oh yeah, that's 100% the case. It's a huge feat of brand synergy that they're always able to line up their different products so well. But I think it's even more of a reason to either: - give Game Freak more support in development - bring Pokémon entirely in-house at Nintendo - look to let a different developer take the reins for a change. I'm not envious of anyone working at Game Freak at all. Their team is far too small, they don't have the time or budget to show a shred of ambition, and they bare the brunt of any backlash when it comes to the largest IP in media — despite supposedly only owning a third of it, at best.
