Main issues for people are that it slows down updates as carriers add their own branding. It infuritates customers more when the carriers add their own version of freely available apps which perform to a lesser extent than the default. Also demo applications which can't be removed but take up precious already limited space is often a deal breaker for most. As far as the orange update goes no additional crapware has been added.

They had already urinated on stock 2.1, they just needed to do a bit more for 2.2 Don't know what additions they've made but I doubt it's anything people want.

There is a setting you can check first, I can't tell you exactly where it is as the menu options in 2.2 are different. But I think it's in setting --> privacy.

Forgot to mention the update depending on carrier is around 80-90MB, so unless you have a sizeable 3g connection and good reception like me wifi all the way. Also you need about 25MB of free space for the update to install.

I got mine on Saturday. Sometimes it can take a while for the update to pop up. If you go into settings --> about phone --> System software updates you can manually start the process if the update is available. Must say froyo is sooooooo worth it. Browser speed is noticeably improved, performance in games like Ex zeus is noticeably improved. Apps to SD works like a treat on the space limited desire. Added a flashlight app from HTC, some crap that doesn't work from t-mobile too. Flash is awesome, watched the inbetweeners on seesaw, and some documentaries on current.tv. The wifi hotspot feature is pretty cool too I've used it quite a bit. I've also been using chrome to phone quite a lot at work to take articles I've been reading on my pc with me on my way to my lunch break. Will be well worth the wait when it drops. You orange customers just need to moan a little more.

Losing people I care about I guess. (I.e they die) I've never been in that position, and I'm not sure how I'd handle that.

Considering the desire HD myself. Although I don't know if I should wait a few more months to see what's on the horizon. Some dual core chips are on their way. Kind of hard to image that phones are now more powerful than some of my first PCs.

Yeah I love my desire, but as I've promised it to my mum sooner than later I'll be moving up one to the HD and letting her have my current one. Which I don't mind too much as t-mobile still haven't given their customers the sweet taste of froyo.

While mashing f8 on start up is there something like an option that says halt on errors / disable automatic restart or something to that effect? Or can you not even get that far? Edit: never mind I think its a Vista / 7 only option.
-
It depends really. What is the error message? Usually if it's a complaint about a missing dll, I just download it and put the file in the correct location using ubuntu live which you can run from a USB drive in the case of a netbook.

I think you would have to do something like nested tables. So essentially have two tables inside a bigger table or within a div element. And then specify the width for particular cells. And using attributes such as colspan and rowspan for cells that go across multiple cells or rows. Is tables a requirement? Because I think this layout would be easier to accomplish using spans, divs and floats. As for the whole image link thing. I know using CSS sprites it's easy to an image hover that swaps out one image for another. But beyond that I don't think basic html and css will foot the bill. You will probably have to use javascript with some onclick events.

HTC's press conference is happening on the 15th I believe where they will be revealing the Desire HD among other devices such as the HD7. As for current market the most powerful android phone on the market is the Samsung Galaxy S, followed by the desire.

I know this lifestyle all too well. Glad those times are behind me. Saying that my cousin is now at uni and he claims to always skint. He hasn't really put 2 & 2 together and come to the realisation it's down to all the steak he keeps buying.

I named my home network side 7. I name my car according to how I feel about it at the time, names so far are: Little red (riding hood) Red comet Red rust bucket Red lightning which I think shall be the naming convention for my furure cars (color here) lightning.
