I've been playing this the last few days (when I should have been watching films instead, <sigh>). I'll post about it more elaborately tomorrow (including decks if you want, though since you're on A10 you probably don't need to look at them ), have to check my history, but in short: finally managed to get my silent and defect up one ascension (it's now 4 / 4 / 3 for me). Again, I have to check, but I had numerous runs with the silent, including a few good ones which all ended up with a variant of a skiv deck.. against the time eater. It's frustrating, because one of those decks had godly cards and relics, but wasn't focussed enough, had some clutter. But I was confident a similar but more focussed deck could definitely win against him. And it almost did. At some point I had a similar but much more focussed deck.. But unfortunately lacking a lot of the synergies the other deck had as well. Purely because of lack of clutter, it actually outperformed the other godly deck, and I came close to killing him. Alas, when I unlocked A4 I didn't get my rematch with time eater. Edit: was also playing around with an (corruption) exhaust deck for ironclad. Forgot how far I got with that one, but it was fun.

Hey @Ronnie, I get the feeling you don't like Discovery.

You may want to better plan your final classes though. I regret not paying more attention to it in the beginning. I'm finally now near the end of my first playthrough, and it's only now that I know what I want for my team. But not everyone's going to get their masterclass. Basically most masterclasses are "it's the same class. But on a horse". So if you want your magic users on a horse for example, you need to teach them horse riding. But this is better done on the field, so you need to actually make them a cavalier. Which also means they'll need minimal lance skills. You can use those class chores (forgot what they're were called) for horse riding, but this may not be enough in itself.

Mark Brown (game maker's toolkit) did a video about it, and I'm definitely interested. If they do a Switch port I'll probably get it there, otherwise I'll get it on PC at some point.

After 3 years (haha, damn), I finally started playing this. Don't know why, because I won't be able to play it for the next 10 days. Anyway, I'm enjoying it so far. It's too early to tell, there's things I think are imrpoved over the previous ME games, and there are things that are worse, but overall I'm liking it, and it looks like something I would have liked a sequel for, or extra story dlc, but we know how that turned out. Oh and obviously playing this game 3 years after launch helps, as I don't experience the game as it was at launch. Anyway, I did Eos, established an outpost there, then went to the ice planet first. Prologue could have been more streamlined, I would have liked a bit more linearity there. Was getting used to the controls and the fact it was open world, and I had a hard time locating a person. But it was better on Eos, and I liked driving the Mako Nomad. I like how you find the "normal " (linear) levels within the open world sections, that's an improvement over ME1 I like. Overall I like the exploration, though sometimes I still want more shooty stuff to do, like more linear but perhaps less elaborate side missions. The balance between ME1 style and ME2/3 is better, though it could still be improved. I took the default character by the way (though I used the custom character to change the default first ability and obviously changed Shepard to female). I kinda liked how the default looked, and while I played with the custom appearance, I couldn't be arsed to redesign the twin to match.

I dunno who that is. Don't worry, I'll replace him with another hot babe soon.

I wonder if there's going to be some sort of connection between Picard and Discovery.

That's pretty cool, though I still intend to collect all of them on Blu-ray at some point, the cool Japanese releases. All of them, so that includes the best like Nausicaa and Kiki's delivery service, and the worst, like Tales from Earthsea and Grave of the fireflies.

Whenever the fuck you want (well, apart from doing the plateau first). Like Ronnie says, just explore and find some shrines first. If you're struggling with combat, shrines will help out. Make sure to do all the Bokoblin camps you come across, just to practice combat. Those combat shrines are actually good practice too, those guardians are a good way to practice shield parrying, very useful in combat, plus they reward you with some good weapons. You can practice shield parrying too with the derelict ones you find scattered in the field. The best place to get weapons? Hyrule Castle. But that will be too daunting for you right now.

Haha. That looks stupid. Stupidly fun! I think I may have heard about it, but then forgot.

If they can make Phoenix Wright work, I'd like to see him over a lot of other characters, but I just can't see it happening from a gameplay perspective. Viewtiful Joe on the other hand, would be perfect, and, also from a gameplay perspective, would make a better character than say someone from RE since he inherently has more moves to work with. But he's lacking the popularity. I would love to see both as assist trophies though, I think they may be more suited for that for overall reasons. Ryu at least has both the relevance and various moves to work with. Various power-ups can be his special moves, and his recovery move should be an eagle that appears out of nowhere that damage boosts him upwards. Wouldn't mind seeing Rayman as well, for some western representation.

I don't think there were enough cutscenes in Iconoclasts. Game's pretty good, love the sprites, love the upgrades, and I really love the worldbuilding, but they leave some things to vague, and not all the characters are developped well.

I dunno man. Maybe in Japan, but world-wide, he's bigger than any remaining potential characters combined probably, in terms of impact on gaming history. Resident Evil may come closests. The violence is a non-issue, they got around that with Snake, and Bayonetta is more violent than Doom guy I'd argue. Yeah I was just mentioning the names I see mentioned the most lately. I forgot about Lloyd. I love Lloyd.. But he'd also come with the nagging realisation Namco is really shit when it comes to Tales games on Nintendo consoles. Overall I think I'd still want him (another sword user, yay! :P), but that very fact just leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Oh yeah, and I'd prefer Wart over Geno. I think I'd have to think about it more, but I'd think I'd be happy with the following 6: Doom guy Lloyd (despite <sigh>) Travis Leon (I don't care about the spirits :P) Rex I ehh, I dunno. I guess I can leave one wildcard, as long as it's not Master Chief / Sora / Steve / Waluigi. So yeah that's 3 new sword users haha. I'm actually pretty confident about Rex getting a spot in the 2nd fighters pass.

Yeah I'm also not happy with Mindhunter not having a confirmed season 3. I mean technically it isn't cancelled, but they're usually happy to announce a season 3 asap. Mind Hunters is one of my favourite shows on Netflix. I actually don't watch a lot on it, but I was watching that. I was also unaware they cancelled the OA. I didn't like the first season, and even in season 2 there was stuff I don't like about it, but the story was getting intriguing. But we're not going to find out what happens in that 3rd parallel universe.

I haven't. I didn't know there was a film about it. I also didn't know there was a film about Dragon Quest, but apparently that's also coming later this year to western Netflix. I also tried this French time travel drama "Twice upon a time" (forgot the exact French title), but didn't like it.

As for new characters, what are the remaining most requested and not totally unreasonable characters? Again, my personal; number 1 left is Doom Guy. He has Nintendo history going back to the SNES, with a 12 FPS port of Doom which I've played, and a Doom game on N64 which had been an exclusive up until this year. A surpise port of the latest game on Switch, and the new one coming out later as well. Doom guy is a gaming icon, important in general gaming history, plenty of history on Nintendo systems, and a new game to promote.. He just makes sense. I also wouldn't mind a Leon Kennedy. I think he's more appropriate than Chris Redfield from a Nintendo history viewpoint, though they can easily include Chris as a alternate costume or even a echo fighter. Ryu from Ninja Gaiden, hmm. He's not someone I'm personally rooting for, although I definitely wouldn't mind him either. From a Nintendo history point of view he also makes sense. Dante is also not someone I'd personally want. Guess I won't complain about him either, but I think Bayonetta already fulfills his role pretty much, and I'd prefer characters who would make more sense. Geno.. I just don't know the guy. He's too niche, I've never played Super Mario RPG. At least he makes some sense, so I guess I wouldn't complain about him either, but I'm not rooting for him simply because of unfamiliarity. (GAMING) Characters I do NOT want to see are: Master Chief. Had an impact on gaming history for sure. But none whatsoever on Nintendo consoles. This hasn't stopped other characters before, but I don't want too many of these characters. Sora. I just have something against the Kingdom Hearts franchise. He also has barely (I think?) any Nintendo history. Stevie. I just have something against Minecraft. There's some justification for him being there.. But with his simplistic visuals I don't think he fits. He's also not interesting as a character. There's no background info on him as far as I'm aware, just "fan-lore".

Yup, and totally neglected this all year haha. But I'm bumping it now for the very reason I started doing this in the first place.. I got an e-mail that I have gold coins expiring for the first time in a long time (well, exactly a year). It's shit that I forgot about this, because by now I've missed all the new year sales. My total is 1742. As per tradition, I'll be spending it all in the great gold coin cycle, before any expire. Actually, the 2 latest directs gave me a good thing to spend them on, completely removing the downside of having missed all the sales. I think I'll be spending it on either the Pokémon season pass, or the Smash Brothers Fighters pass 2 (in the case of the latter I'll also finally get all; the mii costumes). I'll have a look at my wishlist if anything's on sale that I may want right now (or even regardless of any sale), but I doubt it. Edit: That's also less gold coins than last year, eventhough I'm pretty sure I've bought more games. This is thanks to all the limited release games (mostly from Limited Run) and imports I've been buying which don't provide any coins.

On a sidenote I wouldn't mind a Fire Emblem spin-off at all. A fighting game with just Fire Emblem characters. Would perhaps work even better as a tradional fighting game. Add a cool single player campaign that explains why the characters from multiple games are interacting with each other (again). Add in a few cool guest characters like Link and Geralt, and you've removed the need for a Soul Calibur port. Edit:

I mean, if this really was the last one, I could understand (and then I'd still personally be happy about it), but damn. There are a confirmed 6 extra characters in the making. I have still hopes for Doomguy. You should have hope too. Unless you want master Chief or Stevie (or Goku or Shrek). They have no place in this game and are not going to be in it. Edit: Oh and again, love the Mii costume extras. Cuphead is great. Altaïr also a nice surprise.
