  1. It was looking great a long time ago, now we have things like Xenoblade and The last story on the horizon. I'm still interested though, but it really depends on if they get rid of the English dub for the European release. I'm not a fan of dubs in general, but this is just a slap in the face.
  2. Mine hasn't arrived yet, but I'm sure there are more people here who'd like to order her: I ordered mine from HLJ.com, where the initial batch went fast. Yesasia also has her, and figures don't seem to disappear quickly there.
  3. I don't care about timed exclusivity, what I care about is it not coming to the Wii or PC at all, at least, no plans are known at this point. I mean, it's goddamn 2D sprites, the Wii, can handle that. Just a resize of the artwork is needed. Unless the all the data exceeds the filesizelimit for Wiiware games. The game looks great though. Even better than the movie . And I do intend to buy a PS3 sometime, but it looks like I won't be enjoying this game in the meantime.
  4. My experience with arcade(machines) is extremely limited. I did get to play this gem though: Asterix & Obelix (arcade - never ported)
  5. Also, I don't think there's a general Halo topic, so I'll put it here, but apart from Halo: Reach, there's also [Halo 2600].
  6. Regardless of what year they're coming out. Ehm, from your list, Crysis. I was a fan of the original, I hope they optimized the code so it'll run as smooth or hopefully smoother than Crysis 1 did (but.. Probably not). Even on my monstermachine, I had to set it at the 2nd best setting, and even then there was the occasional framedrop (videocards == bottleneck). I love the urban setting much more than the island setting. What I don't like is that it seems to be a "reboot" of some sorts (that word is more and more leaving a bad taste in my mouth). I like my continuity, thanks. Also, definitely looking forward to what Id software's cooking up. I had a interest in Brink when it was announced, but it has waned in the meantime. I'm still curious, but it's not high on my priority list right now. I'm not going to moan about it, but Fallout is not what I'm considering for my next FPS fix. Neither is X-Com, but that said, I'm really looking forward to that, maybe even the most of the games you mention. I never played the original games, but I read the IGN hands-on, and it's looking great. Well, not litterally, the trailer looked a bit crap visually, I should say, it's looking fun You forgot Medal of Honour, but I can't say anything about that, haven't seen any gameplay video's. I'd like to know first what multiplayer is like. And, like I said, I don't care what year it's coming out, so also very high on my priority list is Deus Ex. Don't care about the next CoD (maybe the next Modern Warfare, but that remains to be seen), and Halo isn't an option. Can't think of any other FPS games at the moment, well, yeah, I'm waiting for a patch for Blacklight, and after that I'll see if Blacklight 2 is without the oversights of the first.
  7. Ehm, PC (?). I've also found out I've been playing hardcore too much, I can't even play normal games anymore. I wanted to do some objectives based stuff again for variation, but it seems Mosh Pit is gone, so I had to choose one particularly. I've tried some sabotage at first I think, at Favela. It just takes too long too kill someone . The exception is when I use my knife (Oh I love to knife). I actually had a very good run on Derail (Demolition I think), where I outflanked the complete enemy team, and stabbed a lot of people in the back. Got my harriers to defend our objective. Next round, I wasn't killed, so I got my choppergunner as well. Got to 19 kills without any deaths. Quite an achievement for me. Got my first "The show" accolade.
  8. Nostalgic as I am, I can't resist such a thread. Mysterious Cities of Gold and Jayce and the Wheeled warriors were my 2 favourite cartoons (next to the obvious transformers), but I watched a lot of stuff of course. Those 2 were already posted though. It's also funny, you can make a fair guess of a person's age judging by his choices . There's plenty stuff here that may be good, but I wouldn't consider classic (yet) or not retro at least. It also unfortunately shows that the quality was much better back in the day, now only good stuff comes from japan, and can be hard to get.. Oh, and Voltron may be a classic, eventhough I remember little of it (I remember very little in general ), but that intro is just shit . Just start already!! Anyway, I'll add: Macron 1 Robotech Back in the day, Dutch kids grew up with a lot of English cartoons, but some were dubbed. Nowadays though, it's worrying to see everything dubbed, even reruns of old cartoons that once were not dubbed. Anyway, this one was dubbed back in the day, but I'll leave you with the English version. Teddy Ruxpin I am going to expose you to some Dutch though, for this one, there's no other way: Alfred J(odocus) Kwak Edit: Thanks Retro-Link, can't believe I actually forgot "that other one Dutch cartoon". Here's the original Dutch opening of David de Kabouter (David the Gnome as you call him). The illustrator of the book this cartoon is based on, was born in my hometown (check my location). David de Kabouter Also dubbed here, but I'll leave you with the Japanese version Wizard of Oz And there are plenty more. For laughs though: Transformers (Japanese rmx) And in response to the Iron Man intro posted earlier (I have never even seen an Iron man cartoon..) Iron Man classic So this was the British version? What the fuck did you people do with it? Fort Boyard can still be seen in France, and it's the only gameshow I can still watch today. It's just epic. Anyway, this is how it's supposed to sound. Fort Boyard
  9. I also played for a bit over an hour, to get a feel for the game, but I'll start over properly. About the fireflies, I think it's just to get you accustomed to look for those soundsources / added flavour. There's another one near it with some frogs, that also doesn't do anything. I was wondering about those cattoys as well, didn't get a cat to do anything too, but the manual says that you have to be patient and / or time it right I think, so I'll try again.
  10. I'm now have the nuke set up just in case, in my 300+ hours into the game, I've never launched one, didn't think I could ever get one. My killstreak should be proof, it's 19. Then again, this is also dependable on your killstreak rewards, I was more of a fan of getting all the choppers, and now, since I mainly play hardcore, I use the more modest rewards (UAV, carepackage and predator missile). But since for the nuke the best thing seems to be harriers, chopper gunner and then nuke, I've got that now, just in case. I was actually on my way of getting it in a game, I was in one of the ideal maps, Afghan, I got my Harriers, which they failed to shoot down from what I gathered (I hate when this happens when I'm the one carrying the Stinger), and I got my chopper gunner too, but the enemy team got an EMP, so I had to wait. I finally got my chopper gunner out, but there were few seconds left on the timer.. My class now: - M16A4 + holographic sight - M93 Raffica + silencer - Stun grenades - C4 - Marathon - Lightweight - Ninja I love the ACR, I used to use that normally, but I wanted some variation, and also, even on hardcore it sometimes takes too many shots to kill someone. I also used to carry a stinger with me by default, but I get the feeling nowadays there's usually another teammate who understands the need for anti-air, as opposed to in the beginning, so now I use the Raffica which I just think is damn cool. And now I have a 3-burst theme going on. I still have my stinger class, and I do blow myself up with my C4 whenever there's a plane, so I can choose my stingerclass. I also used the silencer on the M16, I love silencers, and I want to be a quiet as possible, but I also don't have a great aim. I was getting kills, eventhough I don't like the ironsight very much, but I have the feeling the holographic sight is helping. But I'll have to play with it some more.
  11. What do the PDF files represent? Are they all single page, or multiple page? Are they the same size? If for example they're al just single images, you should convert them to an image file and put those in a pdf. But I assume they're not and you'd figure that one out on your own. I haven't used the program myself yet, so I don't know if it does what you want, but I installed [scribus], a free (= opensource, but also "really" free) dtp program, as an alternative to an Adobe Indesign which I can't afford, for when I'd need such a program. Also, Hotmail's filesize limit for attachments isn't 10 MB anymore, it's 10 GB total now, although I'm not sure this also means you can upload a single 10 GB file, but I think you could upload a combined pdf file even "as is".
  12. Hmm, while this was the film I was most anticipating this year, it was very disappointing (although not dissapointing at the Iron Man 2 level). Too bad that the combination of me having a bad memory + the film made to look complicated, results in me not able to tell why, so I have to watch it again (and I'll probably will soon) to pick the details apart. Like mentioned by Daft, although I don't agree it's pretty much the exact same thing, I was also reminded by Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind, and also thought that film handled this matter much and much better. Again, I can't remember the details, but during the film I constantly had the idea that it was intentionally made to look complicated just to hide all the errors. Things that bothered me was the whole limbo thing for example, but lots of other stuff too. I'm also inclined to go for the "it's all a dream" ending, which would legitimize all the stuff that's bothering me, but I'm not happy with that. I can choose between the cheap ending and the nonsense ending. I really expected something better from Nolan, I love the guy normally, and the cast was great (Marion Cotillard. Anyway, I'll go watch it again before I draw my final conclusion.
  13. If you're into point & click adventures, check out the Lucas arts stuff for example. I still need to download The Dig.
  14. So yeah, I'm not playing this game actively anymore, just once in a while, and apparently I've been banned and un-banned a few days ago, and gotten a copy of L4D2 for my "inconvenience". I actually read the news first, then saw the e-mail in my in-box, then checked Steam for any gifts.. Oh well, I'll take it. So banned people, check your mail. Original mail:
  15. Heh, read the spoiler.. Didn't know who you were talking about, and wondered if I had missed anything, but he/it just comes up very late in the game. He's cool though. I finished the game, have done practically everything, Except for the Overlord dlc, since I wanted to keep 1 assignment left to take the aforementioned guy from the spoiler with me in my squad. There are no other mission left, and I figured there would be some unique dialogue perhaps, if I took him with me. Unfortunately, eventhough I loved the game, it's pretty buggy, can't remember having issues with ME 1. And the game always crashes during the Overlord assignment, from what I gather from googling, it seems to be caused by choosing this particular squadmember (is it really a spoiler? ). Also, kind of disappointed that I never got the option to invite Kelly to dinner, can't recall any bad choices. Then again, I intended not to cheat on Liara anyway, even with a minor character. But it also means I can't buy any fish . Hmm, just got a look of her voice-actor, pretty cute too. Anyway, now I'm one of the many who have to wait 'till the release of ME3 to see what happens . I'm really curious what carries over. My choices (the ones I can remember):
  16. I got my copy Tuesday, that's why I haven't touched that free game Alien Swarm I've made a thread about. This is more important . First, I've downloaded the Bring down the sky dlc for Mass Effect 1, forgot all about it during my playthrough, but I installed it and played through it and the last mission again, to update my save. Pinnacle Station didn't seem worth my money. And now I'm finally enjoying Mass Effect 2, I've already been through a lot. Recruited most of the people, and have also done some sidequests. Only Tali is missing from the "core" group, and I'm about to start Kasumi's heist. Great to know more stuff is coming soon, especially more Liara, she's my love interest .
  17. Steam in itself is a digital distribution channel, or a store that sells digital games. It's very easy, you can use a credit card, and bought games are yours forever, you can redownload them on whatever system as much as you like. All your games conveniently show up in your Steam library. Also, you never have to look out for the latest patches, Steam automatically updates your games for you. Most games also incorporate Steamworks, you don't need to know the distinction right now, but most multiplayer games you can buy also use Steam to acces your friendlist, so you can play together and use voicechat. Will your craptop run Steam? Probably yes. Will it run the games you'll buy? Depends on the games, and on your laptop's specs, so you'll need to be more specific. But again, Steam in itself is a digital store, and the game's free. You can always try if it runs, if it doesn't, you can redownload it later when you get a better laptop (or computer). There are probably plenty games available who do run on your laptop, but those you'll have to buy. There are plenty cheap games too though, and often there are special deals. Ghostbusters was € 4,- last month, for example.
  18. Hmm, was busy doing something else, so I forgot about it. Anyway, at the moment I get "Steam servers are too busy", so I'll try again some time later.
  19. Ooh, I can make this even shorter. - Top down sci-fi Left 4 Dead. - Released on Steam tomorrow. - Includes sourcecode. - Free. [Alien Swarm] (official site) [Alien Swarm] (Steam store page)
  20. Hmm, still have a major backlog of games to buy (and to play), but i finally ordered this from amazon, along with Fragile, and Final Fantasy (was just about € 15,-). Oh and Mass Effect 2. Now I'll have to play the first one though, never got the extended ending.
  21. I just did a somewhat eleborate (well, at least more elaborate than intended, but I also have different standards ) opening post on another forum, plus I posted some stuff on their official forums as well, so I'm gonna make this short (really). [blacklight: Tango Down (official site)] IGN video review: In short: Multiplayer downloadable FPS game in a cool (not too) futuristic setting, with familar gameplay. Anyone who needs a diversion from CoD 6 (and/or thinks the mappacks are overpriced) feels right at home. Its distinct feature is the HRV, think of Samus' visor in the prime series. One push on the button will locate all your enemies (and allies and objectives) for you, but you're defenseless while doing it, and it needs to recharge. Instead of a great selection of weapons, you have your baseweapons, and with each level you unlock some weaponmods, resulting in many customisations, altering your stats and appearance. € 15,- will get you 12 maps in all the usual multiplayer modes, and also 4 very basic co-op maps. Some flaws: - You can't join an already running game, which leads to long waiting times for joining lobbies. Hopefully they'll fix this (but that's left to be seen). - A lot (most?) maps ultimately lead to (spawn)camping in teamgames, due to their design (one spawn at your base). Your base is defended, but it's possible your team (or the enemy team) gets trapped in their base. Camping feels a lot different than in other games though, it must be said, thanks to the HRV (everyone can see everyone). Thanks to this, the trapped team is not automaticcaly lost. - Requires Games for Windows Live. <sigh>
  22. I've been busy (finally) cleaning my room the last couple of days, and I've gotten a good look at my Cube collection (my whole Nintendo collection actually), and I've given them a nice place in my room now. Got rid of most of my Nintendo stuff (temporarily mind, as in: put them back in their boxes untill I have more space for them and a new TV with more scarts ), but I'll keep the Cube, and I've finally connected the Gameboy Player as well. I don't have many Gameboy games, I bought it pretty much for the collection, since it was only € 10,-. Old stock the store wanted to get rid of at the time. I'm pretty happy with my Cube collection, the only glaring omission is probably Mario Sunshine, I got my Cube late in its lifecycle, and I prioritized games that were hard to find or that were new, so I never came around Sunshine untill it was too late. The few other games I stil intend to get one day that cross my mind are Beyond Good & Evil and Viewtiful Joe 1 (I do have the sequel, picked up for € 5,-), oh and Killer 7 (and perhaps P.N.03 to complete the Camcom 4/5 ). And if at some time I have money to spare and no new games to buy, I may even get non-players choice version of some games I already have, I really hate those covers . Edit: Also, I need a new memory card, as mine is pretty much full, so that'll be a problem if/when I get new Cube games, I'd also like to get hold of a broadband adapter, mainly for the collection, but also for the 2 occasions in my entire lifetime I may need it on a multiplayer party. Oh, and Baten Kaitos: origins, but that's also going to be a problem, since I don't like to mod my hardware, so I'll need to get an US Cube as well.. :|. I was anticipating that game, would it've been released here, I would already have it. Idiots. Out of the 4 games in the opening post, I'd get Chibi Robo no matter what its current price is. It's great, and still worth full value as far as I'm concerned. Fire Emblem is cool too, if you're a fan, but not as cool as Chibi Robo if you ask me. Pokemon, I don't even know what kind of game it is, I'm not really a Pokemon fan, but even then I'd stick mainly with the "real" games, and only get the spin-offs if you're a big fan and you got all the other essential Cube games. I actually bought Batallion Wars full price, and it's one of the few games I regret buying, and this doesn't happen often. The only other Cube game I regret buying is Metal Gear Solid. But for both games few share my opinion . Again though, Chibi Robo, get it now.
  23. Wind Waker isn't exactly high on my Favorite Zelda game list, but the Triforce hunt wasn't the problem in my opinion. As I recall, it was hunting every other little thing you needed/wanted. Treasures, rupees, bottles, maps, and oh my god the figures. The fucking camera could only hold 3 photos. You had to wait a day before a figure was finished.. It was never the concept of sailing that I didn't like.. In fact, I find it pretty epic. Especially the first time, when you depart from Outset island, you really feel like you're starting an epic adventure (with only 4 main dungeons). I don't mind the sailing from 1 big location to the next. But it gets very boring, tedious or plain irritating if you're hunting down every little object the game has to offer. The triforce were just 8 pieces you needed to collect, you were done quickly.
  24. I posted my thoughts on DK 64 somewhere else on this forum, can't remember which thread though. I loved it back in the day, didn't mind the "collect-a-thon" (well yeah, being a Rare fan huh ). Although I also don't know I if could play through it now. It had some very nice level designs, I especially love the waterlevel, with the lighthouse. I never had any troubles with the arcade machine, though I couldn't get the banana from the mechanical fish.. That was the only one I really hated. It took a long time to get another attempt at it.. Years after I got the game, I finally gave it another few goes, and finally got it. It was the last banana I had to get, apart from the 2nd race with the owl, but that one was easy, I simply never really tried it because I was frustrated with that fish.. Then after going through one of the most epic boss fights in gaming history again (also a Rare trademark), I finally got to see the extra ending.
