  1. The quality of the show seems to be getting back little by little to where it was in its glory days now. If only they would start bringing back some of the characters who've disappeared over the years to replace the generic characters they keep adding in these days, it would be perfect.
  2. There's a difference between blocking off the area and dialing the emergency number and actually going to try and help the person in a medical sense. I think most people would still consider that to be a 'moral obligation'.
  3. There's nothing wrong with learning access, its just not a great way to learn programming. If it wasn't for work, you'd be much better off learning to program, then applying said knowledge to access afterwards.
  4. In that case, why not just get a 2 or possibly even 3TB HDD, copy over the files, and install the new one in the box?
  5. convertedName = Left(originalName,1) & "." & Mid(originalName,Instr(originalName," ")) That should do it. I don't know MS access, so there may be a minor syntax error in there, but you should be able to figure it out based on that. Please tell me that this is for work and that you're not actually trying to learn how to program using access.
  6. I've been playing the 1.9 per-release 3 for a while now. Is anyone else seeing the 1x1 bedrock to height limit towers of glass? I'm also seeing enderman spawn during the day. One of them fled as soon as I looked at it rather than attacking me. Strange.
  7. I suspect his replacement was the one really running the company for most of the last year to be honest. At least since his last medical leave.
  8. At this point its looking like the raspberry pi ($25-$35) might actually be decent for media.
  9. Open Computer Management (Assuming you're using Windows) and take a look at the disk management section.
  10. Impossible, they'll hit the bedrock way before they reach 300 meters.
  11. Looking at the final specs you posted in that thread, it should run perfectly on that build provided you have the 64-bit JRE installed.
  12. I tend to do the same thing. Its especially bad when I KNOW the next day is going to be just as long.
  13. I've been playing quite a bit of creative mode recently. Sure, its not as rewarding when you build something, but you can build much larger structures. That said, I think I might lay of Minecraft for a while. I've got tons of studying and coursework to do these days, and I just can't justify playing it so often anymore.
  14. WD are good, just avoid WD Green. I keep hearing good things about samsung's drives these days as well though.
  15. WARNING HUGE IMAGE That ocean 'bit' goes on for about 10km so far. When I first started the world, I was thinking the SNOW area was massive. Cartograph can't really seem to render the mushroom islands properly, but I think you get the idea. What Minecraft really needs at this point are bigger faster and more durable boats that have a chest, bed, etc. on them. Additionally, more interesting stuff in the ocean would be cool (Ship wrecks, coral reefs, etc.). Interestingly as well, squids don't seem to spawn in the ocean at all.
  16. Is Alpha Protocol worth buying at $2?
  17. I've been playing the 1.9 Pre-release for a while. The biomes are MASSIVE now. I was wondering around a tundra biome for a few in game days, and I still couldn't find anything. Eventually I built a boat, and started to cross the ocean (They are very deserving of that title now) and found a mushroom island (no mooshrooms though), built a small base there to store a bit of stuff, recorded the coordinates, and kept going, I've been 'sailing' for several minutes now, and I can't find any other land mass. I'm now over 4km from the spawn point and nothing but a few VERY small islands.
  18. If you're in Uni, a laptop is definitely a good idea. Regarding getting a Mac, you're much better off getting a ThinkPad. Better price (for the same specs), trackpoint (which is much better than even Apple's trackpads), better build quality, etc. Although, aside from maybe the X series, they're probably still out of your budget. 19. NEVER buy ANYTHING from Acer. Unless you're okay with the computer only lasting a year or two that is. Also, always buy laptops from the manufacturer. You'll usually get better deals and you'll be able to customize it. Now, you don't need an incredibly powerful computer to run Photoshop. For quite some time I was able to run Photoshop CS4 on a G4 with no real problems. It was slow, but perfectly usable. That said, if you're doing anything incredibly involved with it, like working with images that are multiple thousands of pixels by multiple thousands of pixels, you're going to want a decent CPU. With CAD, unless you're doing something incredibly simple, you're better of with going for the fastest thing you can afford. If you don't absolutely need portability (for instance, if you're a student, or you travel a lot), you're much better off building a desktop to suit your needs, as you can get decent specs for MUCH cheaper, you don't have to worry so much about heat, and you can more easily upgrade everything latter on rather than buying a whole new computer. However, if you're dead set on a laptop, here are a few things to look for: Not Acer or Dell. At least an i5, preferably a sandy bridge one, and preferably a quad core. At least 4GB of RAM, go up to 6 or even better 8 if you're rendering. With CAD files you're going to want a big hard drive, 500 GB should be lots. The specs on that Acer are actually not bad, but the build quality is going to be terrible, so its still probably not worth it. One other thing is to keep in mind that Photoshop is starting to use hardware acceleration, so you would benefit from a proper graphics card. I don't know about AutoCAD, but I do know that its primary competitor Vectorworks is using hardware acceleration more and more, so I expect AutoCAD probably uses some, might be worth checking out. 20. For those not wanting to try the pre release due to multiplayer, you could easily just rename your 1.8 jar file and switch them around whenever you want to.
  21. Except Wii sports was essentially a technical demo. It wasn't representative of video games in general at all really. Yes it was accessible, but a game that presents much more complicated ideas cannot be simplified enough that it can both be enjoyed by the masses as well as contains a good enough balance between the story and the game play to replace movies. What are you expecting, people will play rail shooter versions of movies and be able to enjoy the story without the game play itself becoming tedious? Additionally, how do you deal with the player failing? If you have a "game over" type scenario, the story is no longer continuous. If you do not penalize the player for failure, you no longer have a game.
  22. I was going to write out something similar, but I think this post sums up exactly what I was going to say. People like to be able to sit and do something without thinking about it much. And at the same time, the type of story that can be told in a game is dramatically different from the type of story that can be told in a movie or other form of passive media. You have to include some sort of activity for the player to take part in in a game, downtime is boring, etc. In a movie, you don't have that problem. There's also the issue of the actual production of a game vs that of a movie, as well as the price.
  23. I understand guns are more common here, but try replacing "gun" with "Knife" and "Shoot" with "Stab". I wouldn't call my country's culture "gun happy", but the average person, can still get a license for one, and so you still have to consider it here, but again I do understand they're less common in the UK.
  24. I have similar feelings. Religion is more dangerous however because its taken seriously by more people, and laws end up being based on it. Again, its not the government's place to ban it, but mentally health adults should know better than to believe in it. Government should not be responsible for making sure people don't make stupid decisions. That said, if he was actually telling the people that they WOULD be cured by paying him, then he's guilty of false advertising.
  25. The 460 SE is a VERY bad idea. The only 460 worth buying is the non-SE 1GB version.
