  1. I honestly don't want anything.
  2. Considering the details as to how Obama's healthcare plan was supposed to be implemented, its actually pretty sane to object to it. Rather than having a single payer system through taxes, the system would basically force everyone to pay for private insurance, which is a terrible idea if you think about it. Having a proper single payer system isn't a bad thing, but there are still problems associated with it as well. Having to pay for the medical treatment of people who made stupid decisions (Smoking, heavy drinking, etc.) is the main one.
  3. Like I said, its just the impression I got. I know the UK tends to be more sane overall (although you have to remember, the US is a federation, and education is a state thing) regarding things like this.
  4. Watch that video that was posted earlier in the thread...
  5. Industrialcraft^2 is out for 1.0.0. Just waiting for the peaceful pack and the Zipline mod now.
  6. Canada is largely secular in its policies. Religion is not taught at all in public schools, except for an optional elective in high school (which is a study of religion from a secular perspective). There is also, in my experience, no tolerance for people who disrupt lessons due to religious beliefs. I remember in a biology class I took in high school, the teacher very clearly explained that if people didn't want to learn about evolution, nobody was forcing them to be in the room, but they would still be tested on it regardless. I wouldn't have it any other way. The only issue is really public funding for so called private schools, which is decided by each province (provinces are in charge of education in Canada), so isn't an issue with Canada itself. In my view there should be no public funding for private schools at all regardless of their curriculum, so its not even particularly an issue of religion. The religious private schools here also (from what people tell me) actually tend to be very secular themselves outside of a religion class that students are forced to take. And they aren't discriminatory in who they accept either. Reading some of the stuff in this thread, it sounds like the UK is more backwards regarding this issue than even the US. Also, interesting article: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-12811197
  7. Yes. 1010101
  8. The Steam holiday sale started today, Just Cause 2 for $5, Portal 2 for $8, etc.
  9. I installed Flan's mods yesterday (vehicles and weapons) and decided to build this in creative mode to go with it:
  10. The only consistent symptom is that there's a slowdown correlated to the amount of stuff you've done in the game. This could be caused by any number of problems, and could very easily be something completely different. I'm not saying it isn't the same thing, as it could be, but we don't have enough information to really say that.
  11. There are way too many variables to even speculate on what the actual problem is. The fact that it only happens on the PS3 would suggest that they had a less experienced team port it to the PS3, but that's really all we know. It could be some sort of inefficiency in the format of the save files, the data structures they're using to store the data in memory, or the algorithms they're using to process it when doing any number of tasks.
  12. Most of Flan's mods are updated for 1.0.0 now, including the planes, vehicles (tanks and jeeps), and guns mods. The American jeeps and tanks are broken in the current version though.
  13. You could always just use separate executables (minecraft.jar) for multiplayer and singleplayer. Actually it would be pretty easy to write a script that lets the player choose which one to use when launching the game, I might make one after my exams are done. Either that or install Mo's creatures on the server (assuming there's an SMP 1.0.0 version of it out).
  14. Thanks. I'll probably try it out again in a week or so after my exams.
  15. There's already an explosion type thing for the fireball(?) spell, so it would probably be reasonably easy to mod something like that into the game.
  16. First name means "Young Warrior". Last name is a type of soldier. Forum name means nothing.
  17. What you need is the destruction perk called Impact. Being a pure mage becomes a lot easier at that point. Naturally you should still carry some conventional weapons though just in case. There are also destruction perks that make enemies run away when they've been attacked with certain spells when their health is low enough, and if that's not enough for you, I think there are some spells in the Illusion school that make people run away from you.
  18. There are tons of mods that offer late game type stuff. Buildcraft for instance allows you to automate quite a bit of production (You can build factories, automatic mines, etc.) but you need a lot of resources to build some of the stuff, so it tends to be better once you're at the stage you're at. Unfortunately, you're going to have to regenerate the bits of the map you haven't built on, as oil (added with Buildcraft) only shows up on chunks generated after you installed the mod. Its also recently been released for 1.0.0. There are a few other mods like Industrialcraft^2 and RedPower that go quite well with it, but I don't think they've been updated yet. Industrialcraft also has the same problem of having to regenerate areas you haven't built on though, as it adds new ores to the game, plus rubber trees.
  19. Did this a week or so ago. Taking a few Illusion perks to decrease the cost of Illusion spells makes it even quicker. Invisibility (Can be bought from the Illusion expert at the magic college once you have 75 Illusion), Muffle, and Silent Casting (Illusion perk) together make sneaking quests easy even if you have a low sneak skill.
  20. I would join, but I've got exams starting in a week and ending mid December.
  21. What a shitty law. My point exactly. People just ignored the racist comments she was making. She was simply dismissed as a crazy and nobody really cared. As far as the language is concerned: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African_American_Vernacular_English
  22. How it should have been handled: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ouiMy73Ouvs
  23. Perhaps I missed something, but I don't remember her ever threatening anyone, or instructing someone else to harm anyone. She was expressing her opinion, and although, a rational person would disagree with her, she's still entitled to it. She never harmed anyone physically.
  24. I can't really see how arresting people for what is essentially just words is better than before. Perhaps better than before in the sense that most people don't think like her, but ideally people would either just ignore her, or laugh at her. That would truly be better than before.
  25. The real problem is that if you actually have a chance of convincing a large number of people to hold an opinion that opposes that of the US government (which really means American corporations), they will find a way to shut you up.
