  1. There definitely seems to be less players in Simple Mode, but it’s been that way since the game launched as far as I can tell. Yep, I’ve been playing simple games exclusively since the start of the July tournament, and that matchmaking issue (if you can call it an issue) is the only thing that’s happened to me occasionally as well.
  2. You could be having that same enjoyment every Thursday evening if you joined the N-E League. I know, I know... You’re not interested, but figured I’d mention it again anyway. Glad to hear you’re still getting some fun from the game though, it truly is a multiplayer classic.
  3. Oh my word, the demo has got me so hyped for this!! Lol at there being a microgame where you have to attach Joy-Con to a Switch. I’m still a little annoyed this is exclusive to 3DS (especially with Sushi Striker and Captain Toad being on both) but I now know that once I start playing the full game I’ll have forgotten about that pretty quickly. And it looks like there’s going to be substantial use of the mic in this game too, so that no doubt influenced the decision to keep it 3DS only. Yeah, the game features full voice acting (which is awesome BTW ) and according to the manual there’s even an option to re-dub Wario’s dialogue! The amiibo art thing sounds entertaining as well. This game really is going to be GOLD.
  4. I picked up Super One More Jump recently, great little game. Would definitely recommend it to anyone that's a fan of twitch gameplay/platformers. There's also a demo on the eShop which gives a pretty good taste of the game. It's what sold me on it actually.
  5. For some reason I didn't think Pocket Rumble would feature online play, so was going to give it a miss. Very interested in checking the game out now though. Should help to scratch that fighting game itch until Smash Ultimate comes out.
  6. IN!
  7. Awesome stuff, Glen-i. Loving the pastel profile pics! And this: Congratulations on the win too! No mean feat considering the constant barrage of attacks you have to endure every race, 99.9% of which are probably sent your way by me. Like that "Bloody hell!" Bob-omb you narrowly avoided on GBA Mario Circuit last night... Anyway, looking forward to the next part of the league. Very curious about these random tasks too, so yeah, I be IN for next week!
  8. I might put together a vid of tonight's action, but in the meantime, here's the main highlight: Thanks to @Glen-i, for providing yet another genuine laugh out loud moment.
  9. Right I’m off too. Thanks for the games everyone, was good fun.
  10. Ok, turf war it is.
  11. Or private battle with spectator rotation.
  12. Give us a minute then...
  13. I’m cool with either.
  14. Hey, at least it backfired spectacularly.
  15. Stilllaughingaboutit.gif Can’t wait for Smash Ultimate.

  17. So I finished the "adventure" mode, and man... even with low expectations it was a serious let-down. It's not just the lack of content that's the problem either, it's also lacking the polish you'd usually expect from a high-profile Nintendo game. There were times when it almost felt like I was playing a knock-off Mario Tennis, that's how lacklustre some of this stuff is! I mean, basic world map design, incredibly bland UI, boring missions that are either way too easy or ridiculously difficult... I could go on and on. It screams of wasted potential. Quite how it's possible to have access to the entire Super Mario IP yet create something which is severely lacking in variety and more importantly, completely soulless, I'll never know. Actually, I think I do know, and it's probably that the staff at Camelot have simply become sick of making these games, so instead of it being a fun project to work on that receives due love and attention, it's just a chore that they want to get out of the way as fast as possible. Well, that's what the end product feels like this time around, at least as far as the adventure mode is concerned. Although having said that, it's not like other aspects of the game aren't showing similar signs of neglect. Stuff like those recycled renders on the character select screen and court banners are also not a good look, and an indication that they either couldn't be arsed to create original content, or weren't given the opportunity/time to do so. Anyway, here's hoping this game is set to receive free DLC updates in the future (and not just additional characters) otherwise I reckon it's going to leave a lot of people very weary of the series going forward.
  18. Good games last night @BowserBasher & @dazzybee! I didn’t realise you could set the game to alternate between singles and doubles in free play, or that spectating was possible. I definitely need to get my controller situation sorted out though, the stick drifting problem is getting really bad now.
  19. Can you imagine combining that play style with the uncontrollable bike theme we did? Would be truly spectacular. Looks like it's possible to zoom the camera slightly when using the Toy-Con Motorbike handlebars, would've been cool if they added a 1st person view as well though.
  20. The LED on my right Joy-Con has decided to no longer light up for some reason, it still connects and functions correctly but it's a bit annoying when using the Joy-Con grip as there's only 1 of those little green lights on the front now. Not a massive issue obviously, but I do miss the symmetry of it. I'm more concerned about the drifting problem on the left Joy-Con control stick, which is also starting to happen quite frequently on the right one now as well... Think I might finally invest in a Pro Controller soon, as what with control sticks moving by themselves, LED lights dying and the paint gradually wearing off their surface, I'm starting to get the feeling that my Joy-Con won't actually last the duration of the Switch's lifespan.
  21. Yeah, I picked it up too and have to say this is one occasion where the Switch Tax is actually somewhat justified, the HD rumble effects are just superb! It's perfectly replicating the game's dynamic soundtrack via the rumble motors, it works incredibly well and massively enhances the overall experience. There's also an option to sync up a couple more Joy-Con and double the HD rumble goodness, but I've only got the one set so won't be able to try it out. Not sure where exactly you're supposed to put those other Joy-Con when using that particular feature though, anyone here know?
  22. The main thing on that one is to have good timing on the trick shot, for returning his shots and avoiding the attacks. Being able to block without using Zone Speed is pretty handy too. I got it on my second attempt, although I never managed to block when he did a Zone Shot to the opposite side of his tentacle. I guess you need to trick shot over in advance and then block. But yeah, didn't make much difference anyway, as long as you're getting the ones he shoots directly at you and his standard shots it's doable without blocking the ones on the opposite side.
