Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Online Thread

Cool. Don’t think I’ll make it for 9:15, but will join as soon as I can. -
Not sure when I'll get around to this game (hopefully sometime this year) but stuff like that definitely has me excited to play it! What's the fan noise like when playing this on the base PS4? I imagine it's going to be pretty bad, especially as my system has always been on the loud side. Anyway, nice to see you guys are enjoying it.

@Glen-i Don’t think I’ll be able to make it for this next week, will hopefully get back home in time for Smash though.

Yeah, really cool theme this time. I love how when you K.O someone you “catch” the Pokémon that was in their window. Good luck catching ‘em all!

Hehehe! Glad you enjoyed it. I had a lot of fun making that one. Anyway, cheers for the games everyone. They were OK! -
This is so entertaining. They really did get the balance between fitness tool and video game just right. In fact, they may have even gone a bit too far with the game side! Great stuff. I can definitely see this holding my attention for longer than Wii Fit, which will be good. Hell, I might even get in decent shape!

Yeah, this is an awesome change! Finally it’s possible to easily mix things up with different rules, item combinations etc. without having to reset the arena itself. The new text chat feature is very nice too. Perhaps there’s even still the possibility of seamless spectating in a future version of Battle Arenas. The fact that they are at least updating the mode gives me some hope. Either way these improvements are great.

Have been managing to play for around 15-20 minutes each evening and I’m currently approaching the end of World 5 at Lv 37. I had a nice surprise when I booted the game up yesterday, a gift had arrived from Stevo (aka darksnowman)! Some Exp, and smoothie ingredients. I wasn’t even aware of this feature, but luckily the game then mentioned that I could also send gifts to people on my friends list via the Multitask Mode, so I checked that out and returned the favour. Turns out Multitask Mode is actually pretty cool, as it doesn’t require the game to be running (or even your Switch at all for that matter) and works solely with the ring and right Joy-Con. It uses HD Rumble in a very cool way too, every time you push or pull on the ring it makes a beep-boop sound (or a boop-beep, depending on if you’re pushing or pulling ) whenever you hit 100 reps it does a little jingle, then a longer tune when you reach 500, which is the limit. It really seems like the sounds are playing out of a Wii Remote style speaker, HD Rumble is so cool. Anyway, then when you return to the game it’ll know how many reps you’ve done and allow you to either add them as an Exp bonus to your Adventure Mode character, or gift them to someone else. I’m not sure how the data is recorded though, I suppose the Ring-Con must have some kind of internal memory. But yeah, loving Ring Fit Adventure and I’m definitely starting to notice a slight improvement to my arms, which have traditionally been very Mr Burns-esque when it comes to strength.

I like the sound of the cooperative online aspects, very similar to what Q-Games were trying with The Tomorrow Children. *sniff* Had to skip through most of that vid though, couldn’t handle listening to “Alan Carr” any longer.

It didn’t run away. I was kinda disappointed.

Thanks. It was purely by chance. Originally the graves were just decorative, but then I started trying to make them into some kind of gameplay feature, and through experimentation with the different stage gimmicks, I just stumbled on to the thing with the upside down cannons. I have absolutely no idea why it only kills sometimes, but it adds to the suspense and makes it even funnier, so I’m very glad it turned out like that. -

So I take it all the version exclusive stuff is known now then, I’m still not quite sure which version to go for, but I’m thinking Shield at the moment. Looking forward to getting back into the series though, not played a Pokémon game since Black 2 on NDS!

New games arrived yesterday (looks like weekly releases every Friday will be the trend going forwards for Apple Arcade) and the latest bunch included Monomals! This is a game I was really looking forward to after playing through Heroki on Switch, and having now spent a couple of hours with it I can safely say it doesn’t disappoint. It’s a fantastic blend of exploration, “platforming”, puzzle solving and music creation! Really good fun. Picomy are ones to watch, mark my words. Can’t wait to get stuck into the music maker. While it appears simple it’s actually pretty deep and can be expanded by playing through the game.

I really don’t mind, do whatever is easier.

Post-MK Smash tonight? I’ve made a new spooooky (and of course silly) custom stage... -
The old school Konami/Mystical Ninja vibes on that music!! If the entire game sounds that good it’ll be a must-buy for the soundtrack alone. *plays trailer again...*

Yep, I got one. Had a good laugh at “no moustache Mario” on the spot the difference. Anyway, nice try Nintendo UK store, but even with that 10% discount you’re still the last place I’d ever buy stuff from.

Well, my abs certainly got a good workout after this happened!: I’m still laughing about it.gif

I’m giving this another go at the moment but am really struggling to get it. The presentation is cool, but the gameplay seems all over the shop. It just feels like the entire game is running on fast forward and it’s almost impossible to react in time to most of what’s going on. I guess the idea is that it’s geared towards replaying stages multiple times and memorising each sequence. That, or my reflexes are shot to shit.

Can’t say I’m a huge fan of this theme, the music is awful and the slimy border looks really amateurish, it doesn’t match the quality of the other assets at all. I still hit 100 points to unlock it, even though I never want to see it again after this event.

I finished part 1 of this yesterday, with just over 3 hours of gameplay on the clock (although a bit of that was me going around in circles trying to figure out where to go/what to do next ) it’s a fun game though, looks and sounds great too. Will be keeping an eye out for part 2.
