Looks like @Glen-i will be doing a few max raid battles on Friday then.
-
Pretty sure it’s just a shifty way for Nintendo to sell more Switch consoles.
-
Yeah, the frame rate is noticeably better in the current build of the game. Well, the gameplay itself can actually involve quite a lot of waiting too (you increase the rate at which your weapons level up by simply standing next to them ) but yeah, good idea to check the demo first. Just keep in mind the performance of the demo is not exactly indicative of how it is in the full game.

Not C64 long, but still too long. You're looking at 40+ seconds to load (or even retry) a stage.

PixelJunk Monsters 2 is currently a whopping 80% off on the eShop: https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Games/Nintendo-Switch-download-software/PixelJunk-Monsters-2-1376031.html Even though I'm not a huge fan of the tower defense genre I decided to get it, have been finding it pretty enjoyable so far. It's somehow simultaneously stressful and relaxing, a weird combo for sure. Performance also seems to be a lot better in the full game than it is in the demo, although the loading times are still pretty lengthy.

I'm not really surprised (been a Nintendo fan for too long ) just incredibly disappointed. Animal Crossing: Let's Go to the City was one of those annoying Wii titles that didn't let you back up the save data to an SD card, but I believe it was still possible to move it via system transfer. Something which I now regret not doing as my save for the game is currently trapped on a broken Wii. I totally should've system transferred to Wii U.

Overall I’m happy with the amount of content it offered, but seeing as none of the characters genuinely appealed to me I’ve also been left somewhat disappointed. If I were to rate everything from least favourite to favourite it’d be... So there you have it. Overall the Fighters Pass was a bit disappointing for me, but at the same time I've enjoyed so many hours of Smash Ultimate (it's my most played Switch game by miles) that I probably shouldn't complain too much. As for Fighters Pass Vol. 2, well I'm certainly not pre-ordering this time. I would love to, but after the direction they took with the first one I'm just not confident that the selection will be any more to my taste with round 2. Having said that, all it would probably take is for the next character reveal to be one from my prediction list and I'd bite straight away!

Oh man, seeing Yakuza 7 li-lo guy in the fixtures image got me again.

Yeah, crazy powerful character! If we were playing stock battles instead of time, the fights wouldn’t have lasted very long at all. While Byleth clearly has amazing offensive capabilities, there is a lot of delay involved with most of those hard-hitting moves, and movement speed in general is pretty slow, so the balance is probably about right. It is pretty crazy how you can meteor smash with that up B though. Cuphead (aka Mii Gunner) proved to be a great counter to Byleth. Getting instant KOs by bouncing back Byleth’s arrows was super fun. Another enjoyable evening of N-E Smash. Cheers. There’s a bit more to the “Too Much Fire Emblem” one than you saw last night, but it requires a specific item/final smash in order to trigger it, which didn’t happen during any of those matches. There was more than enough chaos going on anyway. -
Wow! Thanks for the heads-up.

@Glen-i Always IN! for both leagues please!

Great stuff as always. That "Kiryu" vs Simon finale on my Yakuza stage was so damn awesome! Thanks for the games everyone! Expect me to not pick that lame-o character. I bet now I end up really liking them. -

Eiscue is fast becoming one of my favourite Pokémon. Tough, yet still ridiculous/cute in appearance.

I just happen to have one of those. Think it’s holding a choice scarf though, is quick powder a better option? Anyway, it wasn’t on my team for that particular match, as I was testing some of the Galar Pokémon for the next competition. Speaking of which, are you up for another doubles battle today, say at 5pm?
-
2nd online beta test is currently running, this time those without the gold pass can also take part. If you want to see just how quickly a mobile phone can lose its charge, give it a go!
-
So I gave the demo of this a go a couple of days ago (Asian version) and have played through it a few times since then (way too much in fact ) anyway, I am super happy to report that I was completely and utterly wrong to be upset about the change to the combat system. It is amazing! Day one! I just hope the now politically correct Sony don't mess with the Western localisation. But anyway, Yakuza 7... HYPE!

I just encountered the most bizarre strategy in a ranked doubles battle. My opponent (using all shiny Pokémon BTW *cough* bloody cheat *cough*) sent out Lucario and Whimsicott, the Whimsicott then proceeded to attack the Lucario with a multi hit move and every single hit raised the Lucario’s attack stat, meanwhile it was taking hardly any damage at all! It ended up with a 4x attack boost from a single turn (I imagine it could have even been 5) then he Dynamaxed it and basically tore my entire team to shreds! Afterwards I checked his team out, to try and see how he did it. Basically the Whimsicott has no attack IVs at all, but maxed speed and defense, plus it’s holding a focus sash, and the Lucario has an ability that raises its attack when hit with a dark type move. 2 questions... How the hell is this guy only in Poké Ball tier 4? And how the hell are you supposed to counter a tactic like that?

So @Hero-of-Time, you want the good news, or the bad news? The good news is, I received your EXP gift today when I started the game! The bad news is, now I can’t seem to send gifts to you anymore. You’re still in the leaderboard section, but have completely disappeared from the multitask area! Something is clearly very messed up with that particular online feature in this game.

Yeah, I’m always amazed on the super rare occasion that I don’t encounter one in ranked battles. Hopefully at least some of the future competitions will ban it.

Sorry, I didn’t realise we were on 10 min time, otherwise I wouldn’t have chosen the infinity stage. I also didn’t realise that Mii Brawler kills himself when doing a Final Smash on there, but oh well, live and learn. That was a classic for sure. Thanks for the games everyone! -
Cool. Already did my session for today (finally made it to World 9!) but I’ll check out the goodies tomorrow.
-
So what is the total number of Fire Emblem characters in Ultimate now? I’ve lost count.
-
Cuphead is a cool addition, but man... what a disappointment the rest of that was. Can’t see myself getting the 2nd pass.
