Super Mario Maker 2 challenge - June challenge has started!
RedShell replied to Sméagol's topic in Nintendo Gaming
So we can use anything from the Terrain, Items and Gizmos palette, but only Spike from the Enemies one? Sounds like a fun challenge, I shall give it a go. -
I did a couple of Mewtwo raids with some randoms, failed both times. It was fun seeing someone’s Zacian get instantly KO’d though, while my little Corsola took the hit with around 30% HP to spare. But yeah, Mewtwo hits hard! Not sure it’s worth it for those rewards... At least throw a gold bottle cap in there.

Looks like I need to do some more tweaking though, as the cannon can get stuck. Animal Crossing stage is now fixed though! It’s no longer possible to get trapped on the right side of the screen near the tree. And you can take a dip in the “water” too. As for the Mario Paint Robot stage, well it seems to work ok, although as I suspected everyone just ends up in the middle of it, at which point it becomes very similar to my infinity stage. So yeah, not so good for stock or (long) time battles, but perfect for stamina. Anyway, thanks for the games everyone. Nice arena title BTW, Glen-I. -
A couple of highlights: Gotta Mario Kart.
-
It seems they just faff about (taunting and stuff) until time runs out and Sudden Death kicks in. It’s super weird. The worst thing is when people don’t title their arena properly though, so you join in thinking it’s a normal one, only to discover another bunch of Smash pacifists. Have none of you ever encountered this before then? You must not play Battle Arenas very much, or just be super lucky to have not come across it. Literally every time I go online I see loads of them.
-
Apparently so, yeah. They tend to be the main type of arena that has custom stages enabled too, which is annoying.
-
Great vid @Glen-i! Jigglypuff and Wolf could join one of those weird “no fight” Battle Arenas.
-
Oh yeah, indeed I do. Thanks for reminding me. Wouldn’t be able to do too much damage, but it looks like survival is the name of the game with this particular Max Raid. Will take a look at my other Ghost/Bug/Dark Pokémon as well, see if there’s anything else that might be good for it.
-
Just been reading about this, apparently it’s insanely difficult! Sounds like fun, if you’re not playing alongside the CPU or randoms that is. I’ll try to join you for that if there’s room. I might have to be lame though, don’t think Pikachu is gonna cut it. Do you get the T-Shirt right away, or at the end of the tournament?
-
I think so, yeah. Not actually spent much time preparing that Pokémon TBH, I just thought it would be fun to have the shiny Seismitoad siblings encounter each other in a battle.
-
Good game @Glen-i. You certainly trained your Seismitoad better than I did.
-
Ok.
-
I’m up for that. Surprise surprise.

I wasn't capturing yesterday (due to my controller calamity) so hoping that you got the Pikachu Home-Run Bat shenanigans. Anyway, was fun. Cheers for the games! -
Yeah, I knew that. What I meant by dodgy this time, is if it's hacked.
-
There is of course 1 benefit to playing with Joy-Con, I get the capture button back:
-
So this arrived via Wonder Box today: A time traveling dodgy Ditto! Do I dare transfer it to Shield? If I were to use it for breeding, would the offspring also be considered dodgy?
-
OK, so when I powered up my Switch just before 8pm, my 8BitDo/Wii U Pro Controller combo decided to absolutely freak out. No matter how many times I reset it, the control sticks just wouldn't stop moving all over the place! So I had no choice but to grab my Joy-Cons and use tilt controls as the sticks on those both of those also suffer from severe drift. On the final GP I tried using regular controls with the Joy-Con anyway, it was horrible but I still did better than with tilt. Anyway, if I can't get my Pro controller working I'm gonna have to skip on tonight's Smash session (the sticks on my Joy-Con don't register taps) or I'll just spectate.
-
Ah, good point. That could very well be the reason.
-
Yeah, although it is a little bit weird how they're also referring to previously established holiday events and special animals as "updates" now. Are some of these AC traditions really missing from the base game? No big deal I guess, just kind of strange. Nice to see pattern QR codes from New Leaf and Happy Home Designer will still be usable via the phone app though.

Aww, man. And I had a new stage all ready for testing (plus some more tweaked ones ) oh well, next time then. See you at 9! -
I wouldn't say I didn't enjoy it, although yeah... it is indeed a bit rough around the edges. The worst thing is how long it takes to load/get into a game. I'll probably keep it installed for a while yet though, at least until I've tried out all of the modes, only done co-op so far.
-
So it looks like New Horizons will be very similar to previous games in the AC series (albeit much prettier ) I'm actually OK with that though. The biggest surprise was definitely terrain customisation! Super excited for that particular feature. Hopefully there aren't many/any restrictions to how much you can modify the overall shape of an island, if it's completely unrestricted we could be seeing some really interesting and unique island layouts. Looks like that aspect will unlock quite a while into the game though, would've been cool if it was possible to manually modify island shape at the very beginning as well... although, I'd likely never start playing the game if it was like that. Anyway, roll on March 20th!

OK, I just tried all your levels. @Sméagol I like the concept, but the platforming becomes way too tricky for my liking. Also, your checkpoint flag should appear earlier I reckon. Couldn’t reach the end. @Dcubed, very creative ideas as usual. I like how it’s split into little sections too. Couldn’t get past the part with falling donut blocks before the checkpoint flag. If you’d have just put the checkpoint by the entry pipe instead, it would’ve given more incentive to keep trying. @Glen-i, an enjoyable level overall. I like how there are multiple routes with varying challenge. It was fun destroying the wall on both routes and your checkpoint flag was well placed. The little bonus area just before the goal was a nice touch too. My vote for this theme goes to Glen-i for Spooky Explosive Donuts. I would’ve liked to have taken part by creating a level too, but I still haven’t got my Mario Maker mojo back really. Maybe on the next one... -
Yeah, I should have ‘em all. Cheers for the games.
