Looks like I had a £5 code too! That'll be my 5th, not bad... Dat MK8 deal. ;) Would definitely like to see this promo return, and also extended to include 3DS eShop purchases. Considering the high pricing of retail downloads on the eShop there should definitely be some kind of discount/reward system in place. Will be interesting to see what they do...

:D :D :D :D I can't stop smiling! This amazing game game just got even better. Love how bonkers the DLC is, it's beyond surreal seeing and hearing Link in Mario Kart (although I'm not too sure about the whooping. Link's not American, is he? ). And the new courses... daaaaaaaamn. The Mute City track is absolutely incredible, as is the attention to detail on the Blue Falcon kart. :awesome: The Zelda one is great too, and changing the coins to Rupees is a lovely touch. I'm also amazed that they managed to integrate a...

That probably would have been the case back in the 90's. But no, pretty sure it was this. That enemy/torture attack does not appear in Bayo 2, while everything else is pretty much on the same level as the original Bayonetta.

Smash Bros. is 1080p @ 60fps, and I certainly wouldn't class that as a weaker title. There's clearly some kind of witchcraft going on with that game though.

The "review" amiibo sent to gaming press were no doubt pre-inspected by Nintendo to ensure there wouldn't be any duds. But yeah, getting some of these in-store is definitely the way to go. *EDIT* Has it been confirmed if that little square inside the packaging stops the amiibo from being scanned yet?

So I finally decided to upgrade. Went with the 42" Sony in the end, and it is awesome! :awesome: Even on the factory settings stuff looked pretty great, but after calibrating... wow. Man, I should've done this a couple of years ago! Wii U and PS3 games looks amazing on this screen, but it's also a shit-hot PC monitor. Actually contemplating ditching my old monitor now too, and just using the TV. Anyway, huge thanks to everyone who posted in here. : peace:

To save paper? To advertise Flipnote? To annoy everyone that's waiting for the 3DS version?
-
Sure I'm up for that. Won't be on right after MK though, but at around 10. Will jump online then anyway, see if you're about. : peace:

Soooooo good. Can't wait for next Thursday! Hopefully my Wii U will auto-update this time.
-
Other way around I reckon. Anyway, I thought that was a pretty great Nintendo Direct. It was annoying when Miyamoto mentioned using Flipnote Studio to storyboard the Pikmin animations though, I really thought that was going to link to a European announcement for Flipnote 3D, but apparently not.

Yeah, it's not as bad as I was expecting. Plus, I need that Falcon Mii costume for MK8. As for the final Luigi amiibo... Damn, it looks like he's fallen into a urinal.

Awesome stuff. 3D Out Run time!

Nice. That's the predecessor to the TV I'm currently looking at buying. Do you still get low input lag even outside of game mode? And is picture calibration possible in the game mode on that model too, if so, what's it like?
-
42" is pretty much the max that I'm gonna be able to get away with, and at the moment I can't come across anything better than that SonyW7. But if you can point me in the direction of another 40-42" set that has at least 3 HDMI ports, an input lag of 25ms or less, and for under £500, then please do. Do you use the Game Mode for that TV?
-
As some of you might have seen on Miiverese, I'm currently trying to defeat...

Good example with the GB screen, I know exactly what you mean. But now I'm wondering what the input lag is for my Panasonic TV then. Never noticed any lag though, so it must be pretty good in that regard. Yeah, I still have a 4:3 Sony Trinitron CRT kicking around for my old school gaming, love it. :awesome: It does seem to be way more complicated than it should be. But they do also mention how there are 2 game modes, and one of them can be configured: Anyway, I shall do some more research, and try to check out the TV in the flesh at some point too.

Oh yeah. Can't believe I didn't realise that before. I so should have twigged, seeing as I'm always capturing Wii U footage and seeing it say 1280 x 720. Oh... I thought they were the same thing. What the hell is response time then? Yeah, I've checked out that site before. It's one of the reasons I'm interested in that Sony I mentioned in the opening post. Here's what they say about it in their review: What do you reckon, sounds like a winner, no? I did indeed get through that wall of text, thanks a lot for all of that.

Will get one from the first batch (still not decided which one though ), just to test out the features in Smash. And I definitely want to get that Captain Falcon amiibo! As long as it looks like this: If it suddenly becomes this: ...then perhaps not.

Cheers for the replies. I've only just recently started thinking about getting a new TV to be honest, but yeah, there's quite a lot to consider. By the way, what's the difference in resolution between your LG plasma and the LED you use for gaming? This gives me the impression that there's not that much improvement from 720p. I definitely wouldn't care just knowing something is 1080p, unless there was a substantial and noticeable increase in quality. Interesting. Not heard that before, I'm always hearing how the bigger the screen the better for 1080p+. I should also mention that I don't watch television, so that's not something to take into consideration here. My current TV is used exclusively for gaming, and its potential replacement will be as well.So yeah, I'm really just interested in the difference between 720 and 1080p, from a gaming standpoint. : peace:

So here's the deal, I currently do the majority of my console gaming on this: That's a Panasonic Viera TX-26LXD60 from 2006 (got it when the Wii came out ). It's been a great TV, and is particularly good for gaming as the response time is just 8ms. The only drawback (other than being a bit on the small side) is the fact that it's HD Ready, so limited to 720p. Fast forward to today, and I'm now thinking I should upgrade to a screen that's not only bigger, but also full HD. But... having done a bit of googling, it seems that not all is as it seems when it comes to console gaming and 1080p. Now I'm no expert on any of this (hence the thread ), so please correct me if I'm wrong. However, from what I can gather, the only Wii U games to feature a native 1080p resolution are Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate and Wind Waker HD (with Super Smash Bros. to join them next month). Just 3 games?! It appears to be equally rare on the PS3, I went through a list of games I own for that, none of them are over 720p! So here's my question, and the main reason for this thread... Is the upscaling to 1080p on PS3/Wii U worth getting a new TV for? I'm guessing it ain't, but would like to hear from anyone that has experience with both settings, see what they think. Keep in mind that I do plan to purchase a PS4 soonish (whenever games like Tomorrow Children and RIME start to come out) and it looks like true 1080p is much more common on that. Here's a TV I've been eyeing: Sony KDL42W705B It's supposedly a pretty decent set to game on, response time is 14ms (almost double that of my current TV, but I'm assuming the difference will be negligible ). Anyway, looking forward to hearing what N-E has to say on this matter. : peace:

It's a shame they were so insistent on the amiibo for Smash retaining the poses of the in-game trophies. I mean it's pretty cool that they do, but I'd much rather they were just different and therefore stable without the need for any additional support. How Link could have easily been non-wobbly without the yellow block of doom: I've actually got that figure somewhere (without the Smash Bros. base, obviously ) think it was from pre-ordering OOT back in '98. Just like the new Link and Marth amiibo, he also suffers from the floppy sword problem.
-
Are you crazy?! I be referring to the new Pokémon games. So don't worry, you'll be able to kick my ass at Smash on Wii U too.
-
Oh yeah... ouch. I'm not getting either of those games, but this is gonna be very annoying for those that are.
